I was just down for Sunday but I really enjoyed it. Madra Salach we're great and they really seemed to be blown away by the size of the crowd. Nice to see them doing well. Max Cooper was amazing also, heavier than I expected and I really enjoyed the AV show. We enjoyed what we saw of Father John Misty, New Dad, Of Monsters and Men, and Mike D.

For those down for the weekend, was it roughly the same crowd size as last year? Seemed similar on Sunday but plenty may have left by the time I arrived.

I’d have thought slightly more people than last year. Excellent weekend - savage weather helped.

    Marie Davidson my standout performer.

Honourable mentions to Dug, Sabres of Paradise and Mike D. Sadly I ended up missing Soulwax but reports were good.

Definitely up on last year which is great to see and I agree with Marie Davidson. What a performer.

Only made Saturday, but seemed busier than last year even with the change to Cirrus (which definitely helped for 2manydjs compared to a couple of years ago!). Was on drop off's yesterday evening and seemed quieter around the periphery compared to Saturday.

2FM spent the weekend giving away tickets for next year fwiw.

Absolute blast.... I'd say 20-30% busyer at the peaks, deffo more day visits, but certainly up over all. Should have solidified it in the calender for organisers and Fuel. So many I spoke with over thr weekend it was their first time.

Need to get home and some better analysis and reviews coming later in the week. (And my obligatory hot takes list 😅)

I thought the average age of the crowd had jumped a good bit lower as well so it was a nice balance.

did anyone else notice Father John Mistys backing track appeared to be skipping at one stage near the beginning?

What an outstanding weekend. I think they have picked things up from last year and made it even better, especially the deal they did with the weather Gods, so very fortunate that the weather was like that over the entire weekend given how poor the previous 2 weeks were. The overall vibe, crowd and set up was excellent, everyone including every single staff member I encountered were sound out. I thought the numbers were up on last year which is only a good thing and bar a very small number, from what I saw very very little in the 18-25 age group.

Onto acts, I honestly didnt see anyone I thought was poor over the entire weekend. I try as much as possible to stay for all of a show or as near too as possible so wont include ones I just saw bits of. This means ya dont see everything you want but until cloning technology exists such is festival life.

    Friday

Ela Minus - hadnt heard of her before, but really enjoyable set, kicked it up nicely as it went on and set the tone for the night ahead.

Jan Blomqvist - very good stuff

Caribou - What can you say, as expected, absolutely fantastic, blew the non existant roof off the main stage area

Groove Armada - One of the highlights of the weekend for me, a blinding set that just weaved in and out of Superstylin for its duration. One of the benefits of Sama sadly not being able to play was that I got to this instead.

    Saturday

Mr Scruff - perfect start to the day and in the sunny setting of Cirrus too. One ropey moment with some Irish trad which was a bit pandery, didnt see the last hour of three but understand that was better again.

Sabres of Paradise - just brilliant, tore the tent assunder and was wonderful to hear them doing it so well, a few weapy eyes at stages too.

Sister Sledge - Excellent! Great good times vibes, love that type of thing and even better than last years Boney M/Sugerhill Gang offering on the Saturday

2 Many DJs - standard enough 2 Many DJs show, did seem to be hampered a little by sound early on. Anyone know why they only did 90 min after starting 30 min late?

Marie Davidson - This might just be the live show highlight of the weekend for me. Absolutely belting and fantastic energy

Primal Scream - Good but a few errrr, not too sure early on. Kicked on from the bit where Kevin Shields joined them. The bangers at the end as good as you'd expect. Bob's voice on the wane for sure though.

Gui Boratto - Ah he was brilliant, it was such a pity the crowd was small by the time he ended, 'Beautiful life' deserved a packed area. Just clashed with Heavyweights like Ben Klock and Soulwax.

    Sunday

Glasshouse - perfect start to the Sunday and as mentioned above lovely to be able to sit on grass and watch as opposed to having to stand last year

Madra Salach - Great show and seemed genuinely thrilled with the size of the crowd which is always nice

Gabriels - A very good set more Cirrus sunshine and everyone enjoying

Primary Colours : Loveball - These folk know how to throw a party! Exceptional stuff and everyone there certainly enjoyed

Horace Andy - Couldnt quite believe my ears when the announcer said he was on stage till 2am in Portugal the night before with Massive Attack. Put on a great show in spite of this, again very weather and time/day suitable

Moodymann - Mann he did not disappoint! A wonderful set, and was great to see him after being disappointed he couldnt make Friday. It did mean I missed Max Cooper though

Mike D - Excellent! I went in hoping he would be at least good and praying he wouldnt be awful. But he (they) were great. Played mostly his own stuff too. The crowd were litterally baying for more for a good 2-3 mins then boos when the roadies came out to clear off. I did wonder that they might not have any more tunes.

Claptone - Great way to close out Cirrus for the weekend . Tore the place apart in a good way.

Honey Dijon - The legs gave up so didnt stay as long as I would have liked but what I heard (and continued to hear from my tent) was great, very positive report from mates after too.

Some grumbles (all minor stuff really)

Cirrus Garden didnt have the fence decorated/camoflaged and missed some decorations that made feel more like a Garden/Arena last year. Please bring those back next year.

The cans on the way in to the arena. Firstly the change this year was great and by and large everything went really well. some folk caught by surprise Friday to learn it was only 1 can in after 8 and 4 in before that. If thats the case, just say it before hand so everyone knows. In fairness they were telling people as we were walking back to tents Saturday evening so they were aware.

The toilets in the glamping needed a few more portaloos, the cabin style ones a welcome addition and bit more luxurious, but complement them by having some more portaloos please.

Showers were a) only cold on Friday during the open time and b) poorly designed in that some had the plughole on the wrong side of the hill so the water didnt flow in.

Thats only minor stuff though. I'll be buying 2027 ticket the moment loyalty pre sale opens

An excellent weekend all around and the weather definitely made it, although the sunny days did mean it got quite chilly at nighttime!

    Highlights for me:

    Caribou

    Maria Davidson

    Sabres of Paradise

    Christian Loeffler

    Soulwax

    Mike D

    Max cooper

    Overhead the albatross

Boolaboom (so good we saw them twice!)

The main arena opened late each day which meant timetables got thrown off and different stages were running in different delays. But only a minor issue when everything is so self contained. Sound was also a bit dodgy in Selective Memory at times, Róis had a 'mare for the first third of their set and had to cut their set short which was a pity.

Felt busier than last year so hopefully the new owners will keep running it for future years. Will be back next year if they are!

Another.great BTP, just a brilliant little festival full of sound people, the music this year across the board was excellent. I get the feeling its about to take off now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 752 ✭✭✭Blackie_IRL

Walked through all weekend bit a full backpack of.cns, not a single search, security were A1 this year, so chilled

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 294 ✭✭Heiser

My first time at BTP and won't be my last, it'll take the place of All Together Now for me which I feel is getting to big and losing the magic these smaller festivals have.

Absolutely fantastic weekend. I loved that it was an older crowd and everyone there was sound and up for a laugh.

Only negative was we were only allowed one open can through after 8pm on Friday which was a poor start, dont know whether they were trying to pull a fast one or there was poor communication between organisers and security. It sorted itself by Saturday anyway and they weren't even checking then.

Highlights were Caribou, Tinlicker, Biird, Sister Sledge, 2manyDJs and Claptone but for me Honey Dijon stole the show, absolutely fantastic set and loved the Sister Sedge 'He was the greatest dancer' remix towards the end.

The Cliffords were my best find of the weekend, they were incredible and one of those bands that really I was really able to connect with.

Cheers to everyone that helped make it so much fun and see you all next year.

I had a lovely six days, the weather was amazing for the actual weekend although a little artic chill breeze with the sunshine on Friday. Staff camp was about 2 minutes from main stage so could hear everything from my tent. Highlights: Sabres of Paradise, Caribou, Ben Klock, Kittin (Absolutely banging set) Cailin (Finishing with Aphex Twin's On), Sunil Sharpe. Sister Sledge, Madra Salach, Father John Misty, Horace Andy (amazing set in amazing weather) and Honey Djion among others. Will have blog report up in a day or two. Met fellow Boards posters @rubick, @desk tidy and @Kepler21 over the weekend.

Super weekend! I think my favourite BTP so far. Amazing atmosphere and installations with enough of everything (bars and toilets etc). Standouts for me were Soulwax, Max Cooper, Sister Sledge, Mike D, Prymary Colours and Honey Dijon. Hadn’t seen BoolaBoom or Chalk before and really enjoyed both. Hopefully the momentum builds for BTP as it really is a great little festival. Plenty of tents around us were packed up and gone by Sunday afternoon but I suppose that is the reality of organising a festival that doesn’t fall on a bank holiday weekend.

Sounds like a great weekend. Fair play to all concerned. Looks like it's back on track after a bit of a wobble.

Yeah agree with the sentiment of all the posts above. Best BTP yet. Good to see it busier though still no bad queues. Age profile a little younger than before, which made me feel my age, but can't complain as vibes were excellent all round.

The sun really makes all the difference. Such a treat.

I was sorry to miss Christian Loeffler especially but also Maria Davidson - you can't make them all and sometimes have to roll with it. It didn't help that most acts were running at least about 30 minutes behind schedule - what was the craic with that?

Have come to expect little to no coverage or internet for the weekend so embraced that. Would be better if they could do something about it though.

Also, Sama cancelling and Moodyman moving to the Sunday were a bit disappointing, especially so close to kick off.

Still, you'd hope that it did enough to secure its future.

Also, I cannot complain about the acts I did catch - they were mostly bangers.

Caribou put on a really good show - maybe even a step up from previous times I've seen him.

Groove Armada DJ set almost completely made up for Sama's no show.

    Tinlicker were excellent.

Late acts in Club Cucu on Friday were a bit meh.

Mr Scruff was perfect for his slot.

Biird were nice to catch in the sunshine. Could have done without the political messaging mind.

    Sister Sledge were most enjoyable.

Sabres of Paradise were fantastic - the performance of Smokebelch II was truly epic and a pleasure to experience.

2 Many DJs were decent though a little bit underwhelming. Didn't quite live up to the memory of EP from a couple of decades ago.

Primal Scream were mostly solid with some filler and the audience wasn't really feeling all Bobby's attempted engagement.

(Miss) Kitten was banging - enjoyed a good blast of her. Another one that brought me back a couple of decades!

Gui Boratto was very good from what I caught of him.

Soulwax put on a fantastic show - well worth catching.

Ben Klock served up a dish of exactly what the doctor ordered!

So all in all a very, very solid outing. And that's without getting any of Sunday. Bring on 27.

Superb weekend. Great to see BTP go from strength to strength.

Delighted for the organisers and everyone there that the weather was fab. It's the first year in 5 years there hasn't been any rain over the weekend.

It took us longer to get in, long queues on the way down to the entrance gate. It might have just been a busy time, after work on the Friday.

Saw Caribou - brilliant! Groove Armada 50/50, some great tracks, some cheese on Friday. It's a pity about Sama because all the late night options were very similar. Wandered into the Strawberry fields and saw a bit of Rathaus DJs, banging until a drag queen started screeching into the mic. Jenny Greene's set was very flat.

Went down for Kormac on Saturday evening. Over to 2 many djs. Soulwax were excellent. Such a great sound from them. Over to Ben Klock and Sunil Sharpe.

Moodyman and Claptone were the highlight. You can't beat Cirrus Garden on the Sunday. Immaculate. I was glad Moodyman ended up on the Sunday as I definitely would have missed him on Friday, what with the delays getting in.

Ended on Shakalak in Puc Fada. Love these guys. A great ending to a fantastic weekend.

Everyone was so sound, I loved all the effort from all the outfits to bubble doof sticks adding to the vibes. Well done everyone!

Delighted for the organisers too, as I've said before, it's too good to lose.

    Roll on 2027 🎪🏕️✨

One other suggestion - it surely wouldn't be too much hassle to have some seperate colour bins around the campsite and venue and ask people to only throw cans and plastic bottles in. They could go to some local charity/sports club or whatever to avail of the deposit return scheme

did anyone else find the sound in the selective memory tent for bands to be really bad. Any DJ I seen in there the sound was good, but went to AE Mak, Cliffords and Rois and left all 3 early because the sound was so bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭grudgehugger

Cliffords deffo sounded a bit off. Mind you I thought the same about Primal Scream and a few others on Main Stage. No issues in tent for Mike D, Sabres, Marie D et al

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 11,096 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

Yeah the sound was very muddy for both Rois and DreamBoy, something wasn't right.

Only see one mention for Overhead the Albatross, interested to hear how they sounded. Great reports, I'll be there next year for sure.

Did van passes sell out this year?

Next year likely to go on sale soon im guessing with all the hype, and wondering of i need to be prepared to move fast.

Well that was utterly joyous. Full review to come but just to add to the above that I was very definitely one of the teary-eyed during The Sabres of Paradise. Every so often they would gesture towards the empty part of the stage, took that as a reference to Mr Weatherall. Highlight of my weekend, but there were many.
