It's Radler, a mix of beer and lemonade, and it's extremely popular in Germany & Austria. It's name, which literally translates as "cyclist", stems from the fact that you could cycle to your local beer garden, have a few pints of those things, and cycle home without going over the legal limit 🍻 That's also the reason why I drink it, because it's so low yield.

There is no shame in that at all. Grief hits every one of us in a different manner, and there is no one way of grieving, or remembering the loved ones that we've lost. During what was to be my last visit to my mom back in 2017, she said something to me that still sticks with me: "Don't feel obligated to come visit our graves when we're gone. It may be where our urns are, but we won't be there." Your feelings, your memory of your brother, are not tethered to that plot. They're with you. And so is he.

Look after yourself, Sephers. And don't be too hard on yourself!

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

@Seph - please don't be so hard on yourself for not visiting his grave as often as you think you ought to. I'm not too keen on visiting my parent's grave with my dear big sister's ashes also interred there although it's only a few kilometres up the road from where I live - I do lay flowers there to mark their anniversaries, but I mark their memory in other ways too, such as lighting a candle in the evenings. We all grieve in our own way.

On that subject, my sister's 2 year anniversary is fast approaching - June 29th. Hard to believe that much time has passed already.

Kitchenside here, prepping a warm chicken salad for dinner, having our neighbour and good friend down to join us. 🍽

So basically an Irish shandy :)

My latest concoction is about 9-10%, so definitely needs to be watered down:)

He is ready for tonight's matches, it's also the OH birthday, her friends are all gate crashing our house for a surprise party, but she knows all about it thanks to me, life is simpler that way.

Now off to read a bit of Ulysses.

I totally agree with this post, I'm gonna amend the charter to say "hence forth if you own a cat you are hereby required to post regular pictures or suffer the consequences "

    😂😂😄

    Happy Bloomsday, Wherers!

Deskside in the home office, finishing up work for the day. Dull and overcast outside but I will get out for a walk as I need the fresh air.

My cat has figured out that the door to my upstairs can't close (needs new bolt). She can open it with her paw now. Her new spot is the bottom of my bed for sneaky naps. I've a throw put on the bottom for her. I'm not an animal in the bedroom person but a sneaky nap, I'll pretend I don't see!

Looks quite similar to your cat, Pooches.

Nice to see Sam back too. A Wherers reunion.

Had to visit the bank today for KYC compliance, rather annoying that the APP data was accepted when they entered it on my phone, but at least I got a free Nespresso

I’m off work for today, but here’s Bob taking his job of shedding fur all over my bed very seriously!

In other news, I have an online interview tomorrow for as close to my dream job as possible, so if anyone can send positive vibes from around 11:30 am I’d be grateful ☺️

Looks like you have as real purrfessional on the job there, Addmagnet! 😸

Out and about in a café, taking advantage of the weather and getting a bit of a break from things.

Waiting on my dinner. Chilli bean rice and baked potato. With cheese. A lot of cheese.

@Addmagnet best of luck with the interview

From the ylyl thread but it's cat related so I thought I'd repost.

Hah! Mrs G and myself laugh over that frequently - asking each other if we did our "stupid walk"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,339 ✭✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

It's much easier and much more enjoyable with a dog, because the dog always wants to go for the walk and the enthusiasm is infectious. When I go by myself it feels awkward and tedious. And with running I can add anxious and panicked to that. Cycling is actually much more fun. For some reason I can completely switch off with cycling. But needs to be a mostly quiet and safe route.

It's supposed to get nasty down here overnight. Not seeing much of it yet, and knowing my luck, I'll sleep right through everything…

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!
