Ordered weeks ago (fog) and my date keeps getting pushed back - was 9th June, then 11th, then 13th now 15-16 June!

Received mine yesterday - nice bit of kit, very comfortable. Slept with it on, did not notice it.

Just trying to figure out if it is best to wear on same wrist as watch (left, non-dominant) or to switch it over to my right hand - think it said optimal conditions was to wear it on non-dominant hand, just below wrist.

in the settings, you can choose to wear it on dominant/nondominant…

Any sign of third-party bands yet? I've been searching a bit and there's no sign yet. I think Google only released the CAD drawings last week, so maybe it's a while out.

Plenty showing up on aliexpress, amazon.de & amazon.com… shipping is generally listed as anything between end of June and end of July. All the images I've seen have AI photos, so they haven't even got a prototype to photograph.

That colour was out of stock for a while - you should have received it by now

I know - very annoying! Hopefully not much longer

we ordered a fog with credit from first order on the 5th and it’s shipping and due now on the 12th or 15th, so yours should be the same if not sooner.

Right so, a week on from wearing both the fitbit air and Apple Watch together, here's what I have noticed regarding the fitbit air, its excellent for recording my sleep, sole reason for buying it if i'm honest, I just cant wear the Apple watch in bed, find it to bulky. The AI on the Google Health app is decent. It's really comfortable to wear and no one actually pointed out to me that I was wearing two different wearables, the Fitbit Air is just like a fashion bracelet.

The heart rate is almost identical on both devices however the Resting H/R is a bit higher on the Fitbit, on the Apple it is 54/55 where as its hovering around 60-62 on the Fitbit, this could be down to the fitbit recording more data while I'm asleep, but not sure yet. I will look into this more. The steps on the days I am not training compare well to what's on the Apple W, however here is where the fitbit falls down for me anyway. I use the treadmill quite a bit and the distances are terrible on the Fitbit. Today I did a 7km run on treadmill, Apple Watch recorded 7.3km and the fitbit was all over the place, after 1km on the treadmill, the fitbit was at 0.3km, so I stopped that then, started a new run on the google health app and over the next 3km on the treadmill I hadn't even covered 1km in distance on the google health app. this lead to Google Health AI reading all the information incorrectly. I will try play around with it again tomorrow and see, but I dont think I will be replacing Apple Fitness anytime soon with Google Health.

my resting heart rate is consistently higher on Fitbit too. It’s weirdly consistent in its values too, 53 every day for last week. Apple Watch would vary 48,49,51,52,50 for those days. I thought Fitbit puts less of sleep heart rate in its algorithm btu if you don’t wear it sleeping that’s not it.

For hrv though it’s the opposite, Fitbit measures lower by 4/5ms every day.

It’s not totally accurate on runs outdoors for me, but I didn’t expect it to be.

Just a heads up on other bands, I got the Air Elevated Modern Band using the free 45 eur credit. Don't like it at all. Not as comfortable as the standard band. Going to send it back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,363 ✭✭✭Barr

The only issue I have with the standard band is I don't think its water proof

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,878 ✭✭✭caviardreams

Is there any store where you can see the bands in person?

  • Subscribers Posts: 17,209 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

it’s just plastic and Velcro, how would it not be waterproof? It gets a bit damp, similar to Apple Watch bands but dries out similarly too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,763 ✭✭✭Bluefoam

Apparently the Steph Curry band has an additional coating to make it more water resistant...

I wear the regular band in the shower most days and it hasn't been an issue. That'll probably be a bit uncomfortable in colder months though, with drying etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,878 ✭✭✭caviardreams

It's fabric and velcro though - not plastic so does absorb water. Dries quickly though

    It’s ’recycled material’ fabric, I.e plastic/nylon.

The Steph curry one has strips of rubber banding on inside to sit it off the wrist a bit for more breathable feel, otherwise it seems to be same material so no more water resistant.

Trying to ensure my phone is not in the bedroom going forward, too much of a distraction, doom scrolling, etc.

Will FitBit work if phone is other area of house? Will it still track sleep etc.?

Incidentally have to agree with sentiment above - by and large my HR seems to be a 5-8 beats higher on the Fitbit

Yes it uploads the information to your phone when it's back in range

Got mine yesterday. Few teething problems setting it up, had to restart the device twice.

The AI started pulling data from Garmin connect - but not the data Garmin was showing. Said I had done a fast 8k run (actually a slow 5k) and slept 10 hours (actually 8).

Wore it for an interval track session where I would have cycled there and back. It didn't pick up the whole distance at all - 4k versus 4.8k actual, whatever about the bike, I would have expected it to take the whole running distance.

I am curious what the AI will tell me about recovery and sleep but the data errors above give me a serious pause about trusting it.

Maybe its early days and I need to play with settings and calibration.

From an actual physical fit perspective it's light and comfortable.

Sometimes it will get the activity data from Garmin, sometimes not. The AI had me change the settings in Health Connect but made zero difference. For the moment I've given up after sending Google feedback via the app.

Was in the gym yesterday, forgot to start a session so started it halfway into it. I finished the session and then edited it so it covers the full hour. No matter what I do, it just keeps going back to a 30 minute gym session.

Due to receive mine in the next day or so, which is earlier than originally notified. Was hoping it might be delayed as there seems to be a lot of fixes that need to be completed.

Baffled that an organisation of Google's size would release such a substanard app riddled with faults.

I had something similar yesterday went over and back with AI a few times, but in the end it said there was an issue with how the session was recorded in it's database, best to delete and manually log it.

I did that and it worked fine, picked up the stats and attached them to the new session
