One of the prettiest mountain lakes in Ireland in my opinion.

Lashing D3 now, none forecast. Outlook looks grim for a while too.

Fair play, that's takes serious endurance. I have done all the peaks but not all at once. Some tricky slopes up there.

another week of summer , in the trash can, the high pressure that was set to build at the weekend is gone , so a weekend of damp, murky, grey pig gloom, drizzlely dross, low dull light, heavy thick cloud bases, sea fog impingements, and 15 degrees, while it’s 42 in France.

The slate grey galvanised coffin lid is being screwed down tight on the pratai people at the height of meteorological summer as usual.

The only improvement is that it’s gone from feeling like winter into feeling like late Autumn now.

Gas,It never changes, even in a warming world.

Think I'd prefer our weather than having 42 degress…that's not good at all

thankful it’s only a week or two into summer and 42c in France is torture

It's not just a one off 42C either, it could be a whole week of it based on some of the ludicrous runs. Seen even 45C being suggested. Feck that.

Even Paris looking like high 30s, possibly scrape a 40c over the next week or so. Yikes.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 18,433 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

whatever about 42C in France, we can't even get a run of 20C this June.

seems on edge for next week, went from minimal rain forecast yesterday to now every day forecast being a washout from Thursday. A lot of matches, concerts, sports days could be unpleasant!

42! I can just about tolerate 30C when abroad but only if there is shade. Pure torture.

but shure it’s grand, and a cold damp wind to keep you company on your way home .

My god, we really are cheated out of life in this country, on so many levels.

Hope you have a holiday abroad booked to alleviate the misery for a week or two.

It is pathetic when temperatures are in the mid teens in summer. It does look like warming up over the next 7 days so warm rain yay!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,593 ✭✭✭OldRio

Irritated Parisians? How could we possibly tell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 644 ✭✭✭Thunder87

Having lived in Australia for a few years I never really found the >40C days much different to anything ~35C upwards, as long as humidity is low it's all much the same, you just adjust your lifestyle to it, keep out of direct sun and the evenings and early mornings were lovely

Grey, dark and breezy in Dublin, looks like it's threatening to rain

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,512 ✭✭✭✭Thelonious Monk

Every summer when we're all frustrated and arguing here because our climate is so sh*t we go on about how much better it is in south east England compared to here so it's time. The forecast in London for the next couple of weeks would be like going on holidays to Spain. Sigh.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 18,433 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

I feel the remaining 2 weeks of June will be close but no cigar for us, we are likely to be on the very outer edge of warmth with an Atlantic flow nipping away at us. On most model runs the heat almost makes it here but falls short over Wales. It will turn a bit warmer here but for now mid 20s and higher looks unlikely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,059 ✭✭✭appledrop

London is totally different climate to here, we couldn't believe the weather at Easter on hols with the kids, blue skies everyday and in 20's.

I had to go into M&S across from hotel and buy them tshirts and shorts because I hadn't packed for the heat!

I know it's not nice all time but they do get a summer compared to us.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 18,433 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

yeah London gets a summer almost as good as Paris, just not quiet as hot but a different world compared to anywhere in Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 8,059 ✭✭✭appledrop

I'm actually not minding the weather at moment , since Saturday it has been really nice and yes bit cloudy yesterday and today but mild and at least it has finally stopped raining.

The first 12 days in June were so horrific I am easily pleased!

This seems to be the story of every Irish summer for the past few years. On each occasion we hear of some heat, it gets pushed back to next week, then the week after, then next month. It's almost some form of psychological warfare on the Irish population!
