Raducanu serving for match and is broken...ouch.

And breaks right back and serving for match and closes it out just about. She can be so good when playing on the front foot.

That is a really excellent first set for Raducanu v Jovic breaks again to take it 6-2.

Is it on TV? What station

Raducanu a few more tricky moments against Jovic than 6-2, 6-2 would suggest, but she was very gutsy great to see and aggressive. Vekic should be an interesting matchup in the final.

Raducanu serving for second set at 5-2...and is broken...then serving again for the second set at 5-4 and broken again, missing set points....very fun contest so far! The three matches in what 30ish hours maybe catching up with her.

Vekic takes set and match on the tie break, could be a very dangerous floater at wimbledon. Still a positive tournament for Raducanu.

Lordy help us…….Bublik and Kyrgios get a w/c to the doubles at SW19…..What could possibly go wrong?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 33,610 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

I can't be doing with Kyrgios and all his histrionics and antics - but Bublik is hugely entertaining and I'm 100% in favour of him!!
Some fabulous tennis yesterday in the qualifying in Elm Park - I'm looking forward to tomorrow and hoping Dimitrov and some of the Irish players survive today and are listed again in the morning!

ETA - ohhhhhhh, I missed the "doubles" in that sentence first time around….. well, I'll be getting the popcorn in for that match!!!!

Agree with you on Kyrgios, what a waste of talent. If he had just given a bit more commitment off the court he could have won a couple of slams. I also think his carry on is a tactic to upset his opponent.

Got to disagree with you on Bublik, another one with talent, not as much as Kyrgios, but preferred.to be the court jester. One of the worst type of players to play as you don't know what you are going to get, he could light up the place or he could stink it out.

I thought it was a good week of tennis for the women on Queens especially Boulter and Raducanu. I think Raducanu would have won the final if she could have taken the second set.

I see they have rolled out the Wimbledon team for the mens in Queens. Andrew Castle is tough to listen too.

It looks like we are in for the BBC fawning over Serena and Venus at Wimbledon

Oh god, that was painful at Queens - thankfully coverage of the 1 game only lasted about 10 mins but I was at my limit by then anyhow. Will not be watching any of her/their games from now on!

I've only fairly recently started paying attention to Bublik - I've heard loads about the joker/doesn't take it seriously/random play stuff, but seen precious little of it to be fair - is he taking his game more seriously these days maybe, now that he's got up in the rankings?
Despite all the talk, I don't think I've ever seen him pull an underarm serve!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,625 ✭✭✭Floppybits

I will say Bublik is funny in interviews, when he was asked about his rise up the rankings last year he said he was like a soldier, talking about regimented he was. I seen a couple of his matches last year and I remember he played Draper in the French open and was brilliant won in 4 sets then the next round against Sinner he was beaten in 3 sets 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 and was awful. It was like he was happy to get that far and that was it, no fight or anything.

Andrew Castle is literally stealing a living....absolutely clueless...everything he comes out with is like something Alan Partridge would say.

But seemingly his last one at least!

I watched a bit of that match earlier, he was a bit of an arse. Carried on the night before wanting the match stopped so he didnt have to serve first. The umpire was saying that it will end on an even score. He was leading 2-1 at the time with Perricord to serve, he asked how long left and the umpire said about 30 minutes and then he heads off court for a toilet break then comes back and then starts carrying on.

Some good news (if it's true....)

ETA it really pays to read the article before posting - next year, we get to suffer him again this time.

I just hope Anabel Croft is given a many matches as she wants/ is able for - I'd listen to her all day long.

Castle is so annoying, I feel he keeps trying to make a comment that will go down on history or something like "they think it's all over, it is now" which i think is something that comes naturally instead of trying to manufacture it. Another annoying thing is when he goes off something unrelated to tennis, yesterday he was commentating on the Moutet/Perricard match and the camera when to some young lad in the crowd who was at the match the night before and he caught a ball and Castle just went on about this and how which PSG strip he was wearing yesterday and the night before

Decent win for Arthur Fery against Mannarino at queen's.

Another fabulous day at Elm Park - Dimitrov sadly was a whole different class to Gannon, but he and Charlie Barry put on a fabulous display of doubles to take out two Venezuelans - amazing viewing!

What they're planning to do about Friday, I have no idea - I overheard a LOT of talk about weather apps and rainfall accumulations as I was leaving!
