Either you have had a lot of returns, you aren't handling this right or this is a particularly high value item?

I find it easy enough to get refunds so what are you doing wrong?

Are you being argumentative with the reps on chat or on the phone?

I’ve had one return in two years, the missing item is Apple air pods worth €120. Deliveries are just left outside the door so it may have been swiped but they won’t take any responsibility, high value items should be hand delivered and signed for.

Last refund I had was an amazfit balance watch the time they were discontinued down to £28 last August. Such a great bargain I ordered 2 and some fecker in the warehouse ripped 1 of the amazfit boxes open and swiped the watch. Amazon tried to blame AnPost but I told CS it was taken before it made it to Ireland as it still had the Amazon seal on it.

Who was the courier? I get pictures of the item delivered sat on the drive from DPD (?). If you have that then easy enough to argue that the courier didn't deliver if the picture is of it on the doorstep.

An Post are just scan but not sign on delivery so no 100% guarantee they have delivered.

I'd ask Amazon why they didn't use any additional security for a small high value item. A lot of the time its a pain to be there to have to provide a security code to the courier. But if that system was in place why wasn't it used?

I was genuinely taken aback. Aggressive (tonally) is the right way to describe the email I received.

What baffles me about this is I showed the items (still sealed), I offered to return them, and even said I understood how the mistake was made as the packaging on the two different blades is very similar. I offered to return the incorrect product, I was told there was no need to.

I wasn’t trying to apportion blame and I wasn’t giving out. I would have been happy enough with a straight swap - return the incorrect ones and get the correct ones sent to me.

I couldn’t fault the guy I chatted with, very helpful and friendly. Understood completely when he saw the pic that what I had received was incorrect, apologised and issued refund.

Then I get the email. 🤷‍♂️ It’s actually completely flipped a positive customer service experience into a negative. Leaves really sour taste in the mouth tbh. Bizarre stuff. And all this over £24 worth of razor blades?

Yes, the salary is enormous, I understand that, but that doesn't affect my soul.

I wonder if its because some winkle spanner at Amazon looked up a list of the most stolen items? Razer blades are always up near the top of the list with cheese?

I get that but this is a complete over-reaction from Amazon IMO. I’m not a serial-returner of things, and as I have said I offered to return the ones I was sent. This isn’t some elaborate scam I’m trying to pull - I was sent the wrong item!

I think someone has been reading “How to piss off a loyal and frequent customer in one email”.

Don't worry I have no loyalty to Amazon. At a lesser level I've had "returns" where the first guy I spoke to online wouldn't believe a word I said and the next one gave me a refund and said keep the item. Never had the we are watching you email.

I worked for Amazon at Christmas time in 2008 and 2009. The difference in policies and attitude then to now is amazing. Unless the value was huge or somebody had a repeated history of returns/replacements, you always just took the customers word.

The motto was to be the most customer centric company in the world.

    Those days are long gone.

Amazon are so big they could absorb all sorts of stock loss. They chose to change their policies. Billionaires want more money.

Who'd have thought Jeff Bozo 🤡 would have been the customers friend. It's actually gone downhill since he stepped back.

    Admittedly, he's still a 🔔🔚

he only owns 8% if the company, Blackrock and vanguard together own more than him.customer service is now chat bots mostly with AI programmes monitoring issues in the background and raising flags for returns and cancelled orders and call centres are in the arse hole of nowhere where it’s near impossible to get someone fluent in English, and they call this progress 😂

    The internet isn’t for everyone

Amazon annoy me and they keep finding new ways of doing it.

Has anyone noticed how something can be an absolute bargain but Amazon don't flag the fact in any way. An example being the First Aid kit that @Bellsandwhistles posted. The Bargain Alert price was £2.66 and the item has now gone up to £11.60 but Amazon made no effort to flag the £2.66 price was a reduction. Similar with the tapo C410 cameras.

2.66 was someone being fat fingered, or realising they have a load of stock that is going to expire.

I prefer other people not knowing about the bargain and instead it being posted here.

Can't say this annoys me at all.

I had a strange one a while ago.

I ordered 200 coffee pods on 14th April. I actually added them to the order to get free delivery on another item. They were out of stock and Amazon.ie's description stated order now and will ship when available..

I thought there was no possibility of getting them at the advertised price so I didn't post it here as I expected Amazon to cancel and it would definitely have been cancelled if Amazon suddenly got an increase in orders.

    They arrived 6th June.

Looks like someone made an error on the price.

    My order:

Personally, I am hoping this trend for shaved parmesan on everything ends soon.

Has anyone here had any experience buying from Amazon.ie and using the free shipping option? I'm just wondering if the advertised 15 day delivery time is worst-case scenario and the item (a book sold by and shipping from Amazon UK*) has a good chance of arriving well before that?

*it's a tenner cheaper on the Irish site

I've had orders that said had a delivery date a week out that came the next day, and i'm currently waiting two weeks for an item (that was much cheaper than usual) that should have arrived in 4 days so I don't think there is any standard rule, it's just a roll of the dice.

Thanks. Seeing as it's being fulfilled by Amazon UK and not some third party, I'll roll the dice on the free shipping option. 👍️

Either its not coming from the UK or they haven't printed it yet but have the ink and the paper in stock 😀

Tried to get those really useful boxes but the price doubled when I added them to the basket. I'm taking it as a sign that i don't really need a really useful box

Thats because the price has gone back up. No way are they worth 30 + euro each but at under 20 I think they are a good deal.

I bought 2 at about 11.45. Really handy for the attic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,923 ✭✭✭savemejebus

It hadn't gone up when I tried to order, only went up later. Support couldnt' figure it and suggested I order and they'd refund the difference to a amazon gift card when it arrived. I said no thanks to that and said i'd just leave it and they offered me a €20 voucher for my trouble.

Can't get over how different the customer care experience can be from day to day, one day you're struggling to get them to issue a pre-paid postage label and the next they're giving €20 when you're not even complaining.
