Yeah, I noticed that this morning alright. Today was supposed to be the first proper good day down here, but it looks like the weather gods didn’t get the memo. Either that, or someone’s been letting my dad back at the controls again 🧐

Either way, Homeside here, waiting for a load of laundry to finish running. Fired off emails to the MS nurse unit and the council yesterday, let’s see what comes back… Coffee comes first though!

Deskside in my home office, busy getting through online thesis student presentations. Sunny but very windy outside.

Still fuming over an online meeting this morning with a thesis student I was supervising. He did not meet me back in April when he was supposed to and was incredibly rude, disrespectful and belligerent in the meeting when I pointed out major flaws in his thesis methodology and work plan - he was also in a very noisy cafe on his phone and I initally could barely hear him.

I was insulted by this student who was extremely rude and disrespectful and I contacted the programme chair after the meeting to let her know that I will not supervise this student going forward. I've noticed in recent years an increasing number of rude, abusive and disrespectful/verbally abusive students that I and my colleagues in the faculty have had to deal with. It is just not acceptable behaviour for us to put up with.

Once again at work, but not at work. On call at Java house sipping an iced black coffee whilst keying a report due Monday. Kept getting distracted by a live songwriter and singer on the tiny stage. Soleil Faye singing while playing her guitar some grand folk songs. Was told she just cut her first disc. Would have bought one, but didn’t see any left for sale. Plus, the folk song genre really fits with the old Java house atmosphere.

I think the weather has something to do with it. I'd presume that everyone that can is trying to get out and enjoy the sunshine and warmth while we have it.

Hell, if I was a bit steadier on my feet, I'd be on my way to the regional park with my drone!

Just got my latest household item delivered, OH will be amused or pissed to discover that we now own an aircraft catering trolley as my new household rolling bar :):) Have searched for this for over a year, but not only did i finally find one, it was free and delivered to my house for free :)

Couple winters ago went skiing with a sound man from a SoCal recording studio. He claimed they could make you or break you when first starting out. Don’t have such details for this song writer/singer. She was pretty good live at our javahouse. Then again, maybe I was in mood for folk?

Oh, I believe you, Fathom. Didn’t want to come across as doubting. She has a good voice and a knack for songwriting, that’s for sure! I just felt like her songs would work better with a more sparse instrumentation. Say, just a guitar or two and a single singer. Then again, I could be biased as well, given that I’m currently on a bit of a Norah Jones/Katie Melua trip…
