I thought interest or reaction to this would be much greater

I’m 60 and never liked the original when I was a kid, bit to christo for my taste.

The kind of spiritual and uplifting programme that one would avoid like the plague.

I hated the original series as a kid. it was hugely popular though and was always being repeated, the opening and closing sequences of the girls running down the hill became as familiar as that for the Sullivans.

The conservative Christians in Middle America will lap this up after their daily dose of Fox News. Everyone else of a normal disposition will avoid this like the plague.

Hopefully this time they resolve all the unanswered questions from the original, like "Did the girls have to walk back up that steep hill after running down it?" and "Are the Olsen's ancestors of Jimmy Olsen who is friends with Superman?"

If not, then I have no idea why they bothered to remake this.

I was in 4th or 5th class when 2 American teachers from Wisconsin came for a few weeks to see our primary schools. They brought a lot of LHOTP books which no one had ever heard of (71/72ish) I distinctly remember them showing us pictures of their school and we were amazed that every classroom had carpet.

Michael Landon had a great head of hair, you'd watch this a kid as there was feck all to watch. Anyone doing so now, needs to check themselves into St. John of Gods.

yes. There was little choice of what to watch in 80s Ireland. Particularly on a Sunday evening. There Audi seemed to be a bit if a religious programming ethos on Sundays do stuff like LHOTP and Highway To Heaven seemed to fit the bill. I don’t render a great deal about Little House but it kind of seemed a bit painful. We just watched it at the time as there was literally no other option. I haven’t read the books so nit sure if they are as overtly Christian but if Netflix take the sane tack as the original series it won’t make me want to reopen my sub to catch it.

Looks to me like they are going for a more grittier edge like 1883 (Yellow stone spin prequel) or The Son (Pierce Brosnan) so might actually be good if it covers actual frontier life
