Fair Deal Application Query - In relation to Solicitor

    Hi

I am currently filling out the Fair Deal Application form on behalf of my elderly mother.

Do I need a Solicitor at any stage for this ? I seem to have all the documents gathered & most of the form filled in.

I will be looking into taking out the Nursing Home Loan. I have my property valuation & Folio number etc. It doesn't make reference to needing a solicitor on the form.

So my question is, when does needing a solicitor actually come into play ? Is it upon receiving approval etc

    TIA

From memory you just fill the form to apply for Fair Deal and as part of that you fill the part of the form relating to the loan.

Fair Deal then make a determination as to whether you qualify for the Fair Deal scheme and will advise you of how much of a contribution that they will make.

Subsequently they will advise you of whether you qualify for the loan and will ask you if you wish to proceed.

I presume that the solicitor will only be required at that stage to draw up/examine the contract between you and Fair Deal.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking this myself because form makes no reference to solicitor.

No need for a solicitor. Just fill in forms and bank statements, assets and any income. Then decide if you’re paying home loan as you go along or defer.

Fair deal is one of them the less you have the better as if you’ve saved all your life and have a few quid they’ll hit you with bills to get it off you. Get the stuff reassessed every year I think you can do
