Boardsie's Holiday Weather Reports and Obs

As many of us, who are lucky enough, will be heading off on foreign holibops in the coming months, I decided to set up a new thread for Boards members to post their holiday weather reports and observations while away, so as not clutter other threads (and allow others to completely ignore if they choose to!).

I am heading off to Greek Islands (Andros, Tinos and Syros) tonight, via Athens, so likely to be one the first to report tommorw morning!

#DOCARCH, challenge accepted! Currently in the Herault region of France where we’ve already had July weather towards the end of May, hitting 36/37 for a few days. Now a more normal 26. However, the prefecture has declared drought conditions already despite a wet winter into spring. More local authorities than the prefecture will declare what’s expected shortly.

That’s a long wait! I don’t really get the September holidays thing. For me it’s last two weeks of July this year. Can’t wait for a sun holiday given the miserable weather we’re having.

In Batsi on Andros now. Clear/sunny (as one would expect) and 25c. Always a breeze on the islands.

I like going in September because it's still proper summer weather there and far less tourists compared to the summer period when schools are off. Also it's a guarantee that if summer is crap for the most part, at least i'm guaranteed 2 weeks of good weather in September and it helps to shorten the time between then and Christmas. I tend to not take any time off work for the first half of the year other than the weekends and bank holidays but for the second half of the year I use up all my days off as holidays as I need it the most during the second half of the year.

Would love to hear a more detailed account of your trip, that group looks great, impressive credentials. It doesn't seem to have been the most active season judging by the youtube chasers. Would love to experience some of those storms and a tornado but couldn't handle all the driving!

In Andros Town today. 30c atm. Clear/sunny but seeing lots of cloud/anvils associated with storms over mainland Greece. Fingers crossed moving this way!

Weather improved during the day/full sunshine again by mid afternoon in Batsi, Andros. High of 25c. 19c atm. Off to neighbouring island, Tinos, tomorrow morning.

On Tinos Island now (near Tinos Town). Stunning day but no real idea of temperatures as now weather station nearby. Just have to go by what Google says/said! High of 25c today. 19c atm. Supposed to warm up tomorrow.
