Another +1 for Sama and Cliffords. Fejka, if you're into melodic dance music. Chalk, Madra Salach, Biird and Overhead, The Albatross would be some of my other picks

Also really looking forward to see how Max Coopers 3D/AV show pans out

If I could recommend to the honorable gentleman a pursuit special based on a Ford Falcon, from watching the current televisuals, it seems to meet the current requirements.

Bunch of clowns as usual followed by the even stupider… And the media making it worse. 😒

On another note - Has anyone got any specific non-music acts they are going to see or recommend? We like the odd pallet cleanser through the day so will dip into a few things, bit of comedy and some cabaret but will certainly be going to Sean Ronayne's talk on Sunday being quite relevant to my work.

    (edit for spelling)

I have a friend staying in the campervan site with me but arriving later. Will he have to go through the main entrance, through the arena and then to campervan site? Will there be an issue if he is bringing all his alcohol that route?

He had that kinda show when he played in BTP in 2023. The Big screen behind him, and the mesh then separating the stage and the crowd, with the visuals projected onto the Mesh. Mesmerising

The coach pick-up/drop off area is on the campervan area side of the estate. So he'd need to go via that entrance. If he's in his own vehicle then it'll be via the primary main route car-parks and might have a few hoops to go through from main entrance one end to the other but should still be interchangeable. It'll be just the arena itself that's restricted till performances start. This is assuming he has a campervan wristband

Edit: shocking typos and spelling as usual 😅

Is a separate campervan wristband required to gain access to the campervan area? I'm staying with a friend who's bringing his camper. I will be driving myself so if I go in the main route and park, will I be able to access the campervan area?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,662 ✭✭✭showpony1

its not the strictest operation - if they even check likely you can just say to them youre staying in a camper and arrived after and they'll give you a wristband for that area.

I see the further away campsite actually appears on the map to be nearer the late night camp fire and the circus act is up that end too?

when i went in 2024 most of the circus stuff was going on just in middle of the arena or perhaps i'm thinking of something else.

one thing that was good in 2024 was New Brass Kings kept popping up just out in the middle of the arena in amongst the crowd and doing a set.

Looks like Booblaboom will be covering a bit of the pop-up brass act bill on and off stage this year.

@Duine_Eigin - There will inevitably be a bit of convo with various stewards but you should be able to sort getting there. The person you are staying with should be able to collect your campervan wristband when they enter with the van and get it to you later or meet you at the stewards into camper van area. As long as you pick up your full weekend band when you enter. As @showpony1 said, there's various checkpoints and the key thing is your overall weekend band. Just expect to be challenged at some point if they are doing their roles right.

If your friend is driving it will be a bit of a mission to get from the main carpark to the campervan site and there would be a decent risk that they won't let them through the arena. Could end up having to walk back out onto the roads and around to the campervan entrance. Could you meet them before you leave and bring their alcohol and gear in the camper? That way they can just stroll through wristband > main campsite > arena > campervan site.

Careful now! If by far back you mean up by the campfire then prepare for sunrise parties!!

I never went up that far…What happens there? Am I missing out?

Anyone know if there is showers in the campervan site? What are the hours the showers are usually open?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 191 ✭✭jellybeano

As far as I remember, you don't need to go through the main arena to walk from the campsite to the campervan area. Your friend parks with the other cars at Oldtown entrance. Enters via the main campsite. Head towards the arena. The arena has the lightning bolt signage. Take the path on the left before the⚡⚡up through Acushla, bit of a trek, but not unmanageable. I don't see bringing alcohol through being an issue.

What names are people thinking of for the special guest slot in Puc Fada?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,662 ✭✭✭showpony1

a lot of terrible questions going into the BTP WhatsApp now to organisers

"there was showers in the campervan areas last year - will there be this year?"

    "will you sell coffee anywhere"

    "is water wet?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 131 ✭✭murdog!

"Is there specific parking for glamping?"

"Is there a red carpet for glamping?"

"Does everyone know that I'm GLAMPING?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 131 ✭✭murdog!

    I asked ChatGPT:

Short answer: nobody seems to know publicly yet.

The organisers have only described the Saturday night Púc Fada closer as "a giant of Irish electronic production" (or similar wording like "legend of Irish electronic music"), and they appear to be keeping it tightly under wraps. Recent coverage repeats the clue but doesn't reveal the identity.

If I were making educated guesses, these would be near the top of the list:

    • Sunil Sharpe – although he's already on the bill elsewhere, so probably unlikely.
    • Kormac – already announced on the lineup, so also unlikely.
    • David Holmes – absolutely fits the "legend" description and would be a very Beyond the Pale-style booking.
    • Roger Doyle – one of the true pioneers of Irish electronic music, though perhaps a less obvious festival closer.
    • Donal Dineen – influential, but the wording "electronic production" makes me think they're hinting at someone known primarily as a producer.
    • John Tejada or another surprise guest seems less likely because the clue specifically says Irish.

My strongest hunch, purely on reputation and the wording, would actually be David Holmes. He ticks the "legend" box, has broad crossover appeal, and would be a genuine coup for a late-night secret set.

That said, festivals also love a bit of misdirection. If they're saying "legend of Irish electronic music" rather than "DJ", they could be pointing to someone from an earlier generation whose name wouldn't immediately occur to clubbers.

Anyone hear how the ground is up there at the moment? I would imagine they have the bark down on the main paths.

No idea on the ground but raining all day here in Roundwood anyway!
