I answered the questions as they were posed to me. You should take it up with yourself

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,681 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

No, some of them are racist. You will also see those same people singing their 'up to our knees in fenian blood' songs later

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 633 ✭✭✭B2021M

True. We saw a racist attack last night too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,156 ✭✭✭morphy87

It’s horrific all that you have mentioned , how many more victims do we have to have before these things get sorted

unfair to call them racists… according to some

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,277 ✭✭✭Glenomra

Quite simple and effective policy of the loyalists. They know that if they put enough pressure on the migrants, that they will force them to go to the Republic where they will be accommodated and cared for.

You don't have to answer any questions.

I find it amazing that anyone with empathy would come into this thread and give out about the aftermath and not mention the victim.

You obviously have a different outlook on life than most ordinary going people.

reports are that one eye has been gouged out, blinded in other, nose cut off and throat hacked at in attempt to chop off

Honestly everytime I see you here it's to talk about the far right.

Have you anything to post about the poor chap who nearly got decapitated?

Public: 'We have literally no idea who is coming into the country - we don't feel safe'

GOVT: 'We hear you. We acknowledge your concerns. We will send a new box of iodine tablets and, a pack of kevlar neck warmers and goggles to every household in the country, because your safety is our priority'

Roderic O'Gorman: 'I feel very safe because I have Garda close protection 24/7'

RTE: 'Everything is fine Mary and Paddy, absolutely nothing to see here - PS to Govt, The latest instalment of the €725m is overdue, please attend to this matter'

Yet your first interaction is to ask me why I said the people attacking non-white people tonight are racists. You do not care for victims in any of this

This is a terrible scenario on all sides.

Firstly an innocent man was attacked in an attempted beheading, a man it seems who also may have had some physical impairments and was somewhat vulnerable.

Most worryingly the perpetrator entered this Island through Dublin airport and seems to have migrated northwards without any proper check and balances. The hard questions need to be asked as to how a violent individual entered the country in this way. Our visa system, asylum system and general immigration system is being exploited badly and it's the safety of the people on this island that is in danger as a result.

Conversely, the Loyalist / far right rent a mob group have used the attack as an excuse to riot, vandalise and cause civil unrest. They need to be dealt with swiftly and harshly by the PSNI. This is not a legitimate form of protest.

And yet again the silence from the left is deafening. They are busying themselves attacking the rioters (justifiably) but are eerily silent about the attempted beheading.

Thankfully minister O'Callaghan seems to be one of the very few politicians not afraid to take action and begin to reform what is a badly broken system.

I feel so sorry for the victim in this.

I feel so sorry for innocent immigrants who will be caught up in this.

You care about the far right

I think it would be better for the man to pass on. The physical and psychological effects are horrific. By all accounts a quiet man. It's horrific. God help his family.

Seems to be just the loyalist community rioting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 633 ✭✭✭B2021M

You never mentioned the victim until you were forced to

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,681 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

No great surprise, they and Yaxley-Lennon are bedfellows and they want to hark back to the days of 1969

One of the racists out tonight, I wonder if they are used

No, but I am guessing you would have to go back to the Potato Famine or Diarmuid McMurragh inviting the Normans to Ireland

Michelle O'Neill's comment on this incident: “The debate today ... is about our inclusive society, our welcoming society.”

Is indicative of everything wrong with .modern politicians, they just stick to a script irrespective of what happens , you could have some respect for her if she actually had a real reaction but instead she just reads her lines and on she goes with her day.

What is this adding to a thread about immigration in Ireland.

You didn't expect a shinner to have a worthwhile contribution to government did you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,037 ✭✭✭✭walshb

SF are huge part of the let’s get everyone in here no questions asked. So dangerous. Far more concerned with immigrants, and Arab Muslims in Gaza than actual issues on the doorsteps of Irish people.

This newspaper article articulates everything wrong in today's Ireland:

    image.png

Mary down the road wants to save a few bob on a Temu order and have Maggie over the border accept delivery, Gardai will be out to Mary's door in a flash.

But some lad can waltz from Paris to Dublin and onto Belfast unchecked and then commit attempted murder, and the state will pile on the public decrying them as racists.

The absolute gawl of the state.

The Penal Laws most definitely, and much worse than now. Say 1690 to 1829.

The 7% elite put a tax on having a window in your hovel 'daylight robbery'. You couldn't become a member of a profession or mayor of a town/ hold public office, including becoming an MP.

A Catholic couldn't own a horse worth more than £5. If your eldest son became a Protestant he inherited all your land. Otherwise it was divided among all your sons.

You were persecuted for your religion. Priests were banished and could only be educated on the continent for 100 years until Maynooth opened in 1792. If a priest was found he was branded with a hot iron, and/ or castrated. Found a second time executed. Though this could happen when found first.

If you were seen as being unruly, a threat, you were flogged, also pitch capping with boiling tar was often used against United Irishmen. One tyrant active around Wexford 'Hunter Gowan' stirred his punch with the index finger of a United Irishmen.

We paid one tenth, Tithes, of our income yearly for the upkeep of The Church of Ireland until 1870, when Gladstone abolished them. This was irregardless of creed.

So all in all, it could be worse.

Edit: In the middle of it, winter 1740-41, came Bliain an Áir, the year of the slaughter. The big freeze when whiskey froze inside and a Famine that killed 1/3 of the population, a higher percentage than the Great Famine, 1845-52.

Is anyone in this thread claiming that the attack on that poor man was not a horrific and disgusting incident (and quite possibly a racist attack)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 35,672 ✭✭✭✭listermint

Unclear what customs conversation that happens in every country in the globe from USA to Australia. Has any bearing on immigration controls.

Who gives a **** about Mary and her temu purchases it doesn't have any bearing on how we should be handling immigration control assessment and actions.

It's a stupid analogy and adds zero to the conversation at all.

All this talk about lynching and racist attacks.

The lynching and racist attack happened to that poor man last night.

I'm on the verge of a site ban. Please don't rage bait me, I'm easily triggered especially late at night!
