Where is the chain through the Civil Service who vetted this fella.. He's not a doctor, nurse, engineer, builder, general operative. Giving the screeching I'm sure he hasn't English. Where does the book stop, surely a middle rank to higher Civil Servant can block a person like this entering the country without fearing they'll be pulled up on it.

As someone who lives close to the border it simply wouldn’t work or be tolerated. Both sides of the border are interconnected. During the troubles most roads were blown up/made impassable by the British to be put out of use. I remember crossing the border with British soldiers walking around the car, inspecting it with guns in hand. People still made it across fields easily so it’s a pipe dream.

Even if a hard border was put in place, any migrant can simple cross any field along the border by foot so it’s pointless. In no world would a border wall be high enough or stretch across the entirety of the border for it to work. Imagine setting up a hard border along Dublins county lines with Kildare,Meath and Wicklow It still wouldn’t stop people crossing.

The only solution to make a sizeable dent to what you’re referring to is a united ireland. Most of the migrants are coming to Ireland from Britain via NI as it’s a domestic travel route so easy to get to. I never see anyone ever mention this either when it comes to cracking down on illegal immigration when it’s glaringly obvious.

    This is utterly chilling.

Some poor guy got up this morning and had no idea he was going to be nearly beheaded by this savage.

Hacking at someone's neck to behead them is an imported problem.

There are serious issues with immigration in this country where hordes of young man add nothing to our society except such savagery and mayhem.

The strange thing is immigration, if managed maturely by grown up politicians, could and should be a boon to society. Instead you have idiot politicians from leafy suburbs like Holly Cairns while are too emotionally retarded (what they see as empathy) to have an adult debate about immigration.

Not sure the idea that the Soc Dems or their voters are 'upper middle class' holds up. The fella who was elected recently in Dublin Central is a former League of Ireland footballer from East Wall and his late father was an associate of Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch. Other TDs of theirs are also very clearly working class.

If Restore Britain win the by-election that will take place in the UK in a few days, it may well send a message.

A win for Restore Britain might lead to a Restore Ireland Party, and then we can have our say at our next GE.

During Brexit talks the Unionists outright refused the possibility of having to show a passport after crossing from mainland UK to NI. This potential border idea was then dead and so we have the open door, free for all situation of today.

But, even we had border control, a person can just say they are seeking asylum and they are shown to the red carpet.

    Restore? Reform.

If Farage gets in the UK will toughen things and unleash a new wave of migrants coming to Ireland via the border. Add this to the EU Migration deal where Ireland will be forced to take some of the burden from Greece and Italy on the front line.

Restore is Rupert Lowe's political party.

    Reform is Farage's.

I always understood our border with Northern Ireland was being taken advantage of as a backdoor from the UK in to Europe. Surprised to hear the opposite is being reported in this case.

He was from Somalia earlier and now is from Sudan.

But there is no such thing as open borders and everyone is vetted.

Telling the truth and saying we have open borders is far right and dangerous.

More dangerous than lads who like to decapitate people.

For a sensible debate on immigration one of the main stream parties need to take this on.

Unfortunately those associated with immigration discussion are grifters and law breakers like Michael O'Keeffe, Derek Blighe etc. You've a lot of low calibre non entities like James Conway and Christopher Duffy emerging with the Fuel Protests. Mad men like Kieran Kelly also.

There's a plethora of parties forming and infighting among them, none of them inspire.

So a Sudanese (they think) flew from Paris to Dublin on an unknown date then hopped on a bus to Belfast where he claimed asylum. I can’t remember the exact date given for the asylum claim.

The PSNI are still saying “we believe” when they say he’s from Sudan.

What will happen if Farage becomes Prime Minister and they started expelling migrants…..guess where they will go?

Kerry hotel found to have discriminated against Irish worker in redundancy case

The operator of a Kerry hotel, which houses refugees, has been ordered to pay €5,000 compensation for discriminating against an Irish night porter by selecting him for redundancy over Ukrainian workers.

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) ruled that Green Cliff Investments Limited had breached the Employment Equality Act 1998 by discriminating against Thomas O’Reilly on grounds of race.

The WRC also found that the company – which operates the Derrynane Hotel which is located outside Caherdaniel, Co Kerry – had unfairly dismissed Mr O’Reilly.

It awarded the former night porter total compensation of €7,340 for breaches of employment legislation.

Mr O’Reilly, who had volunteered in humanitarian efforts in driving aid from Ireland to Ukraine during his annual leave, also complained that he had never been provided with a written contract or employee handbook and had been underpaid for bank holidays.

In her ruling, WRC adjudication officer Úna Glazier-Farmer said she accepted that the hotel experienced a downturn in business but also that the role of night porter continued to exist, with Mr O’Reilly’s duties redistributed to other staff.

Ms Glazier-Farmer said the company had failed to demonstrate that fair procedures were applied in how the complainant was selected for redundancy, which rendered his dismissal unfair.

She also concluded that Mr O’Reilly was discriminated against on grounds of race, as he was treated less favourably than Ukrainian staff who carried out night porter duties and kept their jobs.

Ms Glazier-Farmer said he was the only Irish employee in that role.

She said the absence of objective evidence to support the selection of Mr O’Reilly compared to his colleagues, coupled with the retention of non-Irish staff performing the same duties, showed the company had failed to rebut the inference of discrimination.

The WRC ordered the hotel to pay the former night porter €5,000 in compensation for racial discrimination as well as €1,120 for unfair dismissal and €1,220 for other employment legislation breaches.

These AS simply travel by coach or train across the border, arrive at the IPO office in Dublin, say "asylum", and that starts the process.

The process does not include any checks with the origin country, that was confirmed by the Minister.

Well I don't know about a border wall like that between East and West Germany. Personally I'd be in favour of the army patrolling the border and checking who is coming and going, fields and all. I'd like to see guards on the Belfast train checking who is coming in, and arresting anyone engaged in people trafficking. Taxis bringing illegals in should be confiscated and crushed if their drivers are convicted of people trafficking.

When most of us say "social justice" we mean equality under the law opposition to prejudice, discrimination and equal opportunities for all. When Social Justice Activists say "social justice" they mean an emphasis on group identity over the rights of the individual, a rejection of social liberalism, and the assumption that unequal outcomes are always evidence of structural inequalities.

This is the European problem in a nutshell. And how did he get to Paris?

"He said the victim, a man in his 40s, suffered significant injuries to his eyes and serious slash wounds to his back and face after being attacked with a kitchen knife."

Almost worst case scenario now if his eyes are blind. Life basically over. I'm praying we get good news regarding at least one eye but that SAVAGE did his best to ruin them by the looks of it.

It is ridiculous that we allow asylum seekers to just roam around the country while their claim is being processed, that's just madness. Who was the person that brought that in? Whoever they were they should be shunned for life.

Anyone claiming asylum should be sent straight to a detention centre where they cannot leave till their claim is processed. If they don't like it they can always cancel there asylum application and are free to leave the country. No wonder these asylum seekers are laughing at us, when they make it here they must think they have won the lottery. No matter how bad the conditions are in the IPAS centres I bet they are still better where they left.

I'll tell you what'll happen. England will dramatically improve and Ireland will dramatically deteriorate.

Maybe that's the logic of us joining the migration pack? They know we might become overrun so that pact could make it easier to ship them elsewhere in the EU or even deport?

Sure thats a win for that company even though they lost the case and all it cost them was 7k. They should have had the book thrown at them and more punishing fines set against them. Company probably laughed all the way out of the court.

What would stop people coming over the border is cutting all benefits and deportations on the stop if caught entering. Nobody will take the chance leaving from the UK and anyway with benefits cut it'd no longer be an upgrade coming here.
