Congrats on your house. I’m hoping to be in your position this year or next. Irish house prices terrify me.

TBH they were always terrifying. Even 22 years ago when I bought my house I couldn't believe the debt I felt I was getting myself into. Just do it, start paying month by month & you'll forget about it. Little by little it disappears & with the way it feels the years are flying by before you know it it doesn't seem so insurmountable.

Soon enough a house becomes a home & then it doesnt feel like a debt or a bill. Best of luck with the hunt!

Congratulations on the new house!!! Its not the size of the tree and all that, its the people that make the Christmas so don't be worrying about that.

Best of luck antimatterx!! I really hope you find somewhere to call your own. It took me long enough but I got there in the end. Now to find a man 😂

Was convinced I had replied to your post @leahyl 😕

congrats on the new house, and as per the pic above, its not about the tree or whats under it, its about the people around it.

Best of luck, and may you and yours have many happy years in your new home.

Congratulations on the new house @leahyl

You'll squeeze one in some how.

    We're also into the 190's.

We'll be seeing stuff appearing in the shops in this 100's.

Congratulations @leahyl on your new home, love to here of people getting their own little corner of the world. Won't be long till all the Christmas bits start appearing in the shop.

We made our last mortgage repayment on the house last week so keep the faith, it feels like the mortgage will never end, but it does.

Dad came home from hospital yesterday and he's doing really well, he was 77 yesterday and still fighting fit!

@BK5 so glad your dad is doing well.

Wtf type of weather is this for June, hailstones, thunder storms, flash flooding, windy, cold, it may aswell be December!

We've had the heating on for a while every evening since Saturday. I'm half thinking of putting up a couple of decorations.

Wow, I know the temperature dropped a few degrees from that great week we had recently but I haven't felt the need to put the heating on, I'm still in shorts when knocking about the house for example. Must be a good bit cooler around the country so.

    Ramdom question.

When did visting Santa become so expensive/a family experience.

I'm 34 this year and a visit to Santa was general in a local business or maybe a shopping centee. You sat on his knee, told him what you wanted and you got a picture and maybe a a little gift.

When did these big family day outs starts?

@BK5 great to hear that your Dad is out!

@freshpopcorn preach! One year we had both sets of grandparents go with us to a Santa thing. It was in Bunratty castle, madness, good pics though.

On the Santa thing we are flirting, looking down the back of the sofa, with going to Finland for Santa this year. I know a few of you elves have been. We are thinking of staying in a ski resort (Ounasvaara Ski Resort) about 10 mins away from Santa's village and doing a day trip to Santa and then ski the other days. Any pointers greatly appreciated.

We started bringing ours when they were 4, (before then it was a visit to santa in the blanch s.c.) first year we did Santa at Tayto Park, then 2 years at the Santa Express in Palmerstown house before we wrapped up with 2 years at Causey Farm, Covid prevented one last hurrah in 2020 as they were too old (according to themselves) when things reopened in 2021/2022. BUt we had been hearing of these santa days out for a long time before that through my sister with my nephew, they'd been doing them for years. So its been a thing for a good while now.

Morning everyone, lousy weather yesterday but that's been the story of 2026 so far. Hopefully we see an improvement soon.

Have a work do later on so looking forward to that, be good to unwind and have a laugh.

Class @Jude13, you'll love it. I'd research where you want to see Santa - there are a lot of "searching for Santa" day trips. Santa's Village is very commercialised - we lasted about half an hour in it, got over stimulated & uber'ed ourselves out of it pronto! Depending on how much time you go for, I'd defo recommend Lapland Winter Park (we spent the entire day there & had a ball) and we did a husky ride too with Bearhill Huskies; that was really good.

Finally getting a chance to properly check in again here. I've been dipping in and out but work has been pretty crazy this year and I try not to be online in the evenings. Although those addictive Facebook reels keeping reeling me in. Doing exactly what they're supposed to do I suppose!

It's very hard to believe that we're nearly half way through the year. With the constant rain for the first four months of the year, I thought it'd go by at a slower pace this year, but I think that's less and less likely the older we get. Nice, sunny and dry, but windy out there at the moment, but I'll take that over yesterday's grey skies any day.

We moved office earlier in the year and our new one isn't too far from St. Patrick's cathedral. One of my first thoughts was that I am definitely going to one of their Christmas concerts this year! Been on the bucket list for a while, but I've no excuse now. I'll have to keep an eye out for when the tickets go on sale.

It's so nice to see so many posts in here when I do get a chance to log on. Hopefully I'll be able to keep adding to them.

Has summer made a return? Certainly feels & looks like it in the Wee County today ❤️

Hope everyone had a great weekend - we're still in recovery after Louth's win yesterday 😅

We're away on our holidays on Saturday and I cannot wait. Busy week before then though but hoping it'll fly by.

Think the weather is to get wetter later in the week but that's the story of summer in Ireland at the best of times.

Class - were are you off to? We are off to France Friday week…cannot wait! Like that, I've a ridiculous amount of stuff to close off in work but it's in touching distance 🤩

    And by a point- what a nail-biter! 🥳

I was thinking of you when I seen the result. 🎉🎉 Who are Louth up against next?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,883 ✭✭✭CheerLouth

No nails left!😂 Thought it was all over but there you have it…not over until it's over!

TBC for the next match, will be drawn from the winners of next week. Some shake ups to come yet I think looking at those pairings.

Off to Gran Canaria (haven't been there since 1994) and never been to this are so is a totally new experience.

Weather currently 26/27 degrees and sunny which is perfect, so looking forward to not having to think about work for the best part of 2 weeks.

Great win yesterday btw, what a way to win it too, mad scenes at the end.

Meath are heading to Mayo for the next round of the football championship, I'm well old enough to remember the big brawl in the All-Ireland final of '96 so should be an interesting contest.

Cannot believe the Summer Solstice is on Sunday, is there any events that celebrate this or is the Winter Solstice more of a special event historically speaking?
