Thought we could use a separate thread for the AP Higher competition which closes for applications at 3pm today.

Competition is open to all APs with 2 years or more service and the top 160 from the first stage OOM of the 2024 competition.

Anyone know if there will be the usual psychometric testing for this one?

Good luck to all who applied.

Link to circular (space after www as I can't post links): https://www .gov.ie/en/department-of-public-expenditure-infrastructure-public-service-reform-and-digitalisation/circulars/circular-142026-interdepartmental-competition-for-appointment-to-assistant-principal-officer-higher-in-the-departments-of-the-taoiseach-finance-and-public-expenditure-infrastructure-public-service-reform-and-digitalisation/

I applied for this last time around also but cannot remember if there was psychometric testing.

I was cut at form shortlisting in previous comp

Apparently the recruitment is demand based so the psychometric test may not be utilised.

Last internal AP higher campaign in 2023 only shortlisted a little over 100 people.

Thats interesting, good find with that PQ.

Given that the competition includes serving APs and those who already scored well in the general competition I just wonder if it will be deemed necessary to repeat the testing.

In any case, with little over 100 shortlisted the competition must be fierce. Good luck all!

Also I noticed that there's no requirement to be an AP for two years. Only need to be in the civil service for 2 years. This will definitely encourage more people to apply than 2023. But the good news is that most of my peers will not apply as those 3 departments are guaranteed to be a lot more busier with more in office days than other departments. I'm hoping everyone thinks like this and didn't bother to apply. 😂

Has anyone received any communication yet? I was hoping the process would be a lot faster with the new platform Oleero...LOL

Not thrilled at the department's on offer for this competition. Will we be able to go for mobility after 2 years?

Anyone have any idea how many posts on offer and in what areas?

Yes. the Advertisement based mobility is for not AP standard and higher.

No idea. I am not even sure at this stage if there will be many shortlisted as they have launched two standard AP competitions after this internal campaign. Has anyone heard back from public jobs?

Are any campaigns moving at this point?! Not sure why they keep running them at more senior levels.

Noone off the PO panel for ages, nothing to see here either. And an AP panel about to be formed....

Not good practice to be waisting people's time or giving false hope. They're are vacancies and mobility opportunities, just seems like public jobs are not actively recruiting

I agree. My life is on hold at the moment. I have not booked any holidays for June July or August in case I am shortlisted. They are not flexible for the interview dates.

It just feels very wasteful of everyone's time, effort, money.

I wouldn't be surprised at how much pressure it's putting on standalone vacancies at PO as well.

I see a lot of internal hires, lateral movement etc.

My public jobs account has been updated, looks like shortlisting is happening next week

For what it's worth, I've sent an update request through the portal on my puoc jobs account. I think it's over two months since the closing date now, which is a bit ridiculous.

'puoc'? Obviously I meant public jobs!!

Just got a response - basically they are still shortlisting, and they'll let us know when they're finished! Not super-informative, but there you go.
