Dermot Whelan looks back on the lives of some famous people, starting with Brian Dobson.

    Sunday after Fair City.

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

Is that not just Keys To My Life with a slightly different tack?

Or "this is your life" with a slightly different tack 😂 😂 😂

The trailer gives the impression that it's "main character" lead. So whoever is featured has picked out objects significant to them.

As with all these shows I think it will be interesting if you know/like the person featured. Or even if you don't know the person but they articulate well.

However if the person is "look how amazing I am" it will get boring quick.

Apart from Bryan Dobson, the others are Mary McEvoy, Pat Shortt, Maia Dunphy, Emma Doran, and Steve Garrigan.

Was going to try not to be negative but when are they going to let go of Emma Doran. Who's Maia Dunphy and Steve Garrigan?

I don’t know who Emma Doran and Steve Garrigan are. The only thing notable about Maia Dunphy is that she was the former Mrs Johnny Vegas and I’d much rather see her on Tommy Tiernan so he could ask her what attracted her to overweight, heavy drinking Johnny and how it ended. For the record I like herself and also Johnny Vegas but I’d never have put the two of them together.

So Maia was married to a comedian.

McEvoy has done nothing much since Glenroe, and I am sure she and Shortt have been on Key's to My Life.

Southpark had the story that every time they would think of something someone would say "The Simpsons have already done that".

Yeah it seems like lazy creativity really. Slap a new label on an old formula and bobs your uncle.

Steve Garrigan is the lead singer of Kodaline.

Maia Dunphy has worked with all the greats… Zig & Zag, Dustin the Turkey, My Tayto, Ryan Tubridy!

They repeat Keys to My Life an hour before the new show!

Who came up with the idea for this programme.

No offence to Maia Dunphy, but she's not all that well known to have a show on her life.

She could have been replace by anyone.

There are plenty of women that have have stories about their mother and grandmother that they could tell, perhaps 30minutes is not enough to tell the story, but as other parts of her life such as books and her son's shoes took up much of time, followed by the big reveal the more interesting story of her grandmother got drowned out.

It is the very type of show that Dermot Whelan would take the piss out of on Republic of Telly. He might have said: -

"What could be more interesting than that ring… right? … They cleaned it up .. they have had experts shine it up … surely behind that purple sheet …. [cut to the reveal of the cook book] … no its a cook book in a display unit … printed by moonpig for a euro … "
