@sryanbruen a lot of rain forecast aswell in coming week here in Dublin anyway so looks like a very wet start for first 2 weeks of June.

    The 2015 similarities again…

Hadn't looked at the sea surface temp anomalies in ages and that's a huge area of cold anomalies in the North Atlantic. Gives back nightmares of 2015 which was also the last super El Niño as mentioned previously. 2015 was such a crap year, I also arrived on the scene that year so even worse 🤨

@sryanbruen we must be down on sunshine hours aswell in Dublin.

This morning was first sunny morning since start of June.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,656 ✭✭✭✭sryanbruen

Yeah only 23 hours for the first 7 days. We'd expect around 42 hrs after 7 days into June on average so nearly half what you'd expect.

The cloudiest opening to June since 2012 which had 21.1 hrs. 2019 wasn't much better at 24.3 hrs.

Brutual night last night to land in Dublin Airport. Plenty pools water on back roads too. A gorgeous day in Yorkshire and landing to awful conditions around 10pm

Jeez it feels cold here in Meath today. Layers on & showers since midday.

Sports day here too on Thursday @appledrop let's see 😬

    14⁰ Meath

June has been a stuffed pig so far but this weekend is looking promising but it only last for a few days.

Gonzo as this stage I'd be happy if it just stopped raining!

I wouldn't write june off entirely but maybe the last ⅓ will be warmer if not we have July and August to go anyway and if all else fails I'll be going away in September then but maybe spain in in August to see the total solar eclipse that's August 12th , I know we will see 95% sorry it this is off topic mods

Mostly miserable here today. Have had the heating on in the evening the past few days. Found it cold, even during the day.

Really hoping for a long spell of warm weather before the end of the summer.

Just listened to the weather on rte after the news.

Tonight in the NW the possibility of hail and thunder.

    Hail? It's June FFS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,756 ✭✭✭esposito

We can get hail at any time of the year from thunderstorms.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,656 ✭✭✭✭sryanbruen

Summer months are actually some of the most common to see hail due to thunderstorms as mentioned above. August 2000 was notorious for hailstorms and it was a warm month.

Showery in north Longford. A cool feeling 10c in a brisk westerly breeze. Lots of sunny spells so far between the showers, but I think the day is to go downhill with heavier showers and longer spells of rain to come. Tough weather for June in fairness.

Very cold cycling to work in Dublin this morning, a hat or gloves would not have gone amiss this morning which is quite depressing for June. Hopefully the improvement in our weather will come to pass this weekend, and it might actually last longer than a few days.

First noctilucent clouds of the season spotted this morning over Dublin.

48 hour window of normal summer weather this weekend, unless your in the west, northwest, which will be covered in pig gloom with mist drizzle and outbreaks of light rain with a stiff breeze just strong enough to make it unpleasant enough not to be able to be outdoors and the standard 17 degrees , then back to standard trash for everyone with deluges of rain and surpressed temperatures. The summer pattern is really starting to bed in now. You can essentially put June in the trash now along with May, that’s 2 months of the summer down the drain. The atrocious temperatures and biting cold wind with heavy deluges of rain…absolute abomination of pig muck.

global warming and a historically strong El Niño , nope, the pratai people have to suffer on , froze to death in middle of meteorological summer, going around in hats, gloves and thermal jackets while the rest of the northern hemispheres is baked in heat. Gas.

Very cold on bike this morning and don't get me started on that crazy wind. Ugh.

Really cold and very windy…I know a few people who are still giving their heating a blast which is mad for June.

yep cold, rain, wind miserable near Trim…we've had nice weather in December. At least the weekend will be nice. anything but this poxy rain, and wind!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 171 ✭✭Needmoretea

It's the wind that's so annoying! It's hard to enjoy outdoor activities! This morning there's a cool blustery wind in Dublin 9 but the sun is out for now. If you find a little spot sheltered from the wind but directly in the sun, it's actually not so bad 🙂

weekend is looking decent for a change but it's a short respite, back to normal service next week from the looks of things. I'm going to spend as much time outside this weekend as I can to make the most of it. There is scoop in the model output to have another possible short spell of good weather into the final week of June.
