Pre 97 if Limerick or Clare/Waterford/Tipp caught a good Cork in the Munster quarter/semi there would have been no second chance. The old Cork teams you are mentioning are from a very small window - I would say 2003 - 2006. Again a very small time frame in the past 30 years.

Do you realise also, that when Cork won munster last year a large number of Limerick people were saying Cork didn't win it "really"? It's why they were such large celebrations at winning yesterday's game also, there was a feeling of being hard done by. Planting flags in the middle of the pitch and so on, there was real pain there last year. Lots of complaining (STILL) about the added time last year. Lots of complaining (STILL) about how James Owens always favours every team against Limerick etc.

Nah, it's just Cork people though

Galway could beat us yep. They were phenomenal against Cork in the first half of the league. They switched off in the second half and I wonder if there was an element of "keeping powder dry" about it. I know league isn't championship but still, they are very capable.

Offaly first though, and you'd have to wonder if BoC can get the focus right for that. Offaly are young but they're good. Potential ambush.

My point was about analysis and disrespect imo about last years tipp team from cork pundits and people. I didn't hear anything from limerick about how poor winners tipp were, if anything they said nothing which is perfectly fine.

I said here before what a gentleman pat ryan was and I would have had no issue with Cork winning in the past.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,183 ✭✭✭hans aus dtschl

But why would you have heard anything from Limerick about Tipp? Tipp beat Cork, it's the Cork fans that would be sore. What you're saying isn't being objective, you're a Tipp fan sensitive to unfair criticism and you're seeing some sore losers complaining about being beaten.

A shame Pat Ryan moved on but we'll see now what BoC brings. I liked all his talk during the league of essentially being responsible for your own results. I'm not a fan of him discussing specific mad ref decisions, particularly when there were so many mad ref decisions on-show yesterday!

As an outsider; why is Deccie Dalton completely dropped? And if he's not Ben's cup of tea, why not replaced with a long range shooter similar to himself and Byrnes? Ignoring the free at the end yesterday which I think he would have had this distance for. Cork don't have a reliable shooter from distance to force opposing defenders out the field. Surely there's a place on the bench for such a player if the opposing team starts clogging up their half with 12 players.

    Ankle injury

Also, wind was really heavy, some puckouts weren't getting to the half way line. It was a very streetwise foul in terms of where it was committed, it effectively guaranteed no score. Lucky to not get the red card though - classic James Owens stuff there in fairness :D

He was in the squad for the last game but apparently picked up a calf injury last Tuesday and Mullins replaced him in the squad.

I presume Ben does not think he can cover the ground and put in the work like the others and that is the kind of player he clearly wants. Harnedy has only seen 10 minutes of play this year as he too cannot cover the ground like the others but has more credit in hte bank than Dalton. Ben is all about pace, the ability to turn and get away from your man is essential to him. Conditions made that a bit harder yesterday but it won't alway be like that. Those players prefer a dry sod to really utilise their pace and run at defenders, all 6 forwards have that pace and can beat their man. I don't think they got the opportunity enough to do that yesterday. The ball into them at times was truly awful aswell which certainly didn't help.

It’s the unjustified arrogance and cockiness.

It’s the level of complacency consistently displayed by many of the Cork fans.

Patrick Horgan coming out at the start of 2024 declaring "We have two players for every position. It’s perfect"

Anthony Nash at the start of 2025 stating that he can see no other team other than Cork and Limerick coming close to the All-Ireland final.

Do you watch the dire tripe that supposed Cork journalists such as Dan Casey, come out with ?

Alan Connolly "We want to win the league. We want to win Munster. We want to win the All-Ireland. And that’s what we are going to do!"

Alan Connolly trying to score a goal from a 21-yard free when 15 points up against Clare at the end of the game.

You may say that all counties act the same or think the same. No other county acts like that. If other counties think like that, they aren't so disrespectful to say it nationally. They keep it to themselves.

The booing and vitriol coming from Cork fans. Yesterday Donal Og even referenced the many Cork fans who, in his words, "know nothing about hurling".

If other counties dislike Cork, it’s not irrational, there is a reason for it.

Are you a long time sufferer of Cork derrangment syndrome?

Dan Casey… it's like Cork people getting their backs up over the premier view podcast. We just don't bother. People love to hate Cork, it doesn't really bother most of us.

In the middle of a heated conversation in the bar yesterday during the match, a Cork supporter and a Limerick supporter decided to relax tensions with a bit of comedy

    "why isn't that a free?"

"because there was no foul committed"

"yeah but this ref doesn't care, he just hands them out like sweets on Halloween"

    "hmm fair point"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,183 ✭✭✭hans aus dtschl

    No other county.

No other county has fans who go to the dedicated threads of other counties to twist the knife after every game about how they're chokers, how they deserve to lose, how the refs always favour them, how the manager is unsporting, how the players are unsporting, how the past players are unsporting, how the pundits from that county are unsporting etc.

It's just Cork people. They're the worst in general.

I mean, it's logical, right? It's such a different place than anywhere else.

You will find the 6 in a row Dublin football team had a wide geographical hate club from around Ireland. I think playing to to the old urban rural divide. Undoubtedly Dublin have the serious advantage of playing numbers but there was alot of vitriol there for them. Depends on who who shout for, any team that could routinely best Kerry got alot of Limerick support.

Yep you're not wrong. We even had years of "split Dublin in two"!

There is a cohort of fans that damage goodwill from neutrals towards Cork.

Two wins away from getting back to where we want to be. Oh and it's sad from what i see on my Facebook feed that Anthony Daly just does rage bait articles for Cork supporters now, but of course Dalo did work with Limerick hurling before with their underage squads. So of course he wouldn't be the most impartial of observers here.

I'm not worried about anything Ben O'Connor says or how folk in other counties perceive him as such, but for the first time this year it's fair to say that management had a very bad day at the office yesterday. They were way too slow in making the required changes but it's all about getting it right for the end of July now.

We should beat Offaly but Galway could be a potential banana skin for us, although it's about time we beat them in a championship game again.

Some of your own fans yesterday were attacking the stewards to get onto the pitch. We had grown men in their 40's giving the middle finger to the Cork supporters on the terrace as well. So let's not frame this as a Cork only problem. I agree that Galway could be a tricky game, but i also think there's a big game in Clare presuming they do beat Dublin.

Whilst Limerick are a fine team on the pitch at least, i still stand over my claim that some Limerick fans are a bunch of self entitled nouveau riche upstarts.😁

Shefflin is one good reason not to like Kilkenny.

Anthony Daly is one good reason not to like Clare.

    Davy Fitz is......

    Great insight.

You are coming across like Jack O Connor calling Tyrone nouveau riche in his book about Tyrone 2003-2008. I think Jack is an ignorant petty man. Look at him shaking Jim McGuinnes hand after football league final, he couldnt look at him straight. I lenjoy about 95% of your posts which in fairness covers hurling football camogie and ladies GF which are informative and high light your earnest interest in all things Cork GAA. I think you are poorly generalising the Limerick fan base. We all have a few fools,so at times you have to ignore them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,787 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

It's only a small minority of Limerick fans now. There's an element of the Limerick support who seem to prefer trying to enrage Cork supporters than enjoy their teams success, but there's people like that amongst the Cork support as well. Again congrats on the win yesterday, and hopefully we might see you again in July and hopefully reverse the result.

My post was aimed at the people who like to come on here with their rage bait posts trying to provoke Cork fans into anger. The last thing i would do is go on the Limerick thread or any other counties thread for that matter, and go on some self righteous and sanctimonious spiel attacking that counties supporters.

Tipperary and Kilkenny for me are still our ultimate rivals at the end of the day, but Limerick are our biggest modern-day rivals. It's a bit like the great Cork and Waterford rivalry in the 2000's, although so far Cork are the Waterford in this dynamic unfortunately!

It'll be interesting to see how many Cork fans travel to Thurles. I would have expected train tickets to vanish straight away but that's not the case. Going up is busy Sun morning (maybe due to concerts in Cork) but plenty availability post match

Rightly or wrongly many will believe its a foregone conclusion and wait for the Galway game.
