I think some countries favour emigration of their people for purposes of getting remittances. I saw a documentary recently on the Franco regime, and they eventually started doing this, signing labour agreements with countries like Germany.

What the #### is wrong with this world? I don't EVER watch videos like what was described. But I watched it. The person recording it? She was no doubt afraid.

I'm not even remotely a violent person, but I'm telling you now, if I witnessed something like that, the perpetrator would be lucky to still have his head on his shoulders. I'd have been in there with the almightiest of kicks. Someone with a knife trying to decapitate another person? Sorry, but rules, laws and everything goes out the window seeing something like that. No reasoning with a mad man to save someone's life. He is evil $¢úm! I hope the victim survives.

I do wonder how RTE, and our media in general here will report this. I have no faith in them anymore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,177 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

The recorder was a woman and you don't expect her to have a go especially if he turns on her.

Edit: in hindsight I might have been too harsh on the man talking behind the video. I think he's elderly and helps when the other lads arrive.

Thank God the lad with the hurl did. Could have saved the mans life.

Fair warning to anyone who is thinking of watching the video. It's more of an attempted beheading and eye gouging then a stabbing.

They're economic migrants with no skills to offer our economy.

Walking around with knives in the jungle one minute and dropped off in Ireland the next with no integration.

How did anyone think this would possibly work?

Poisoning the country many worked hard and died for throughout history.

Those responsible, those beneficiaries should receive the same treatment that poor man got last night.

The country is safe...100% safe. I feel safe and all my family, friends and work colleagues feel safe (not).

Too many incidents recently. We have trouble ahead and lots of it.

Our **** government have done this to us. They didn't filter in only the good people enough.

I didn't watch a video, the still image I saw was horrific enough.

News coverage of this on main sites definitely minimising what happened, mention a stabbing not the eye gouging and attempted decapitation. BBC news was particularly bad. The story didn't merit a link on the main page (Yet Spencer Pratt not making it in the LA mayoral race did). I had to specifically go to the Northern Irish section of the news site to get to the (sanitised) story.

“Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”

Government down here may gear up for even more coming down from the north, as I don't think tonight is gonna be pretty in Belfast.

Sinn Feins refugees welcome stance hopefully will see them sliding down the polls up north also. Utter clowns and I'd be nationalist at heart.

No mention of it on the Irish times or on Newstalk this morning

RTE have reported it tbf, also as a “stabbing” albeit

I'm trying to buy a house at the moment and had a viewing yesterday. 4 other couples, 3 of them Indian, at it - 2 of which then also attended the second viewing I went to.

This is in the midlands incidentally, not Dublin. It certainly feels like there's a lot more in the country than the numbers would suggest.

The fault lies with the Government though. These people are just taking advantage of our ridiculously lax rules around immigration, job visas, and non-national property ownership.

Still, it's hard not to be resentful when this added pressure on the market makes even buying almost a lottery in the same way as the rental market has become.

Diversity incident in Belfast, just a minor stabbing. Let's get back to justice for Yves please!

Refugees and anyone bloody else welcome is their stance….dangerous shower!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,497 ✭✭✭Esse85

Seen a few comments online saying the victim was only 16.

Absolutely terrifying what's been allowed to happen on our streets day in and day out, caused by the people we pay to protect us.

I am sick to my stomach watching that, it was like one of those ISIS videos of beheadings years ago.

If anyone wants to deny the media downplay crimes by immigrants take a look at the reporting of this.

He literally sawed at his throat to decapitate him.

The media reported it as a stabbing.

What's that three beheadings in Ireland in the last few years.

Ah sure don't we have our own homegrown who go around doing that anyway.

The left were out over a scumbag dying with someone leaning on top of him.

I can't wait to see the protests over this innocent victim, with a fella leaning on top of him and trying to cut his head off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,597 ✭✭✭batman_oh

Also our own government and media are happy to tell people arriving from these places that we are all disgusting racists, but that wouldn't lead to any sort of extra resentment etc. No, that's how you promote everybody living in harmony!

I do wonder how the 'Progressive' Elite amongst the likes of the media class would change the tune about a United Ireland if Catholics and the existing Ulster Planters up North start coming together in opposition to all Non-EU immigration.

You sense many in the Elite only care about a UI as long as it serves the greater goal of 'progressivism'.

RTE really are pathetic. I said it last night that I've no faith in them, headlines like this are why.

    "Seriously injured"?

    "Stabbing"? SMH

And Mount Everest is a molehill. Way to understate everything.
