Same thing happens in every Cork game. Collins tries to be tactical with puck outs, puts a few wide and then fumbles a few short ones. As soon as that happens he shts the bed and starts lumping them in and Corks game falls apart.

The only fans that are booing free takers now are Cork

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,903 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

They seem to believe there is a conspiracy where every free taker against them is time wasting.

Ben is turning into another Davy 😀

don’t want to bring soccer in to it. But if injury time is up and the team has a corner. The ref will allow the corner to be taken. However if you lump your corner back to the keeper on the half way line the ref would blow it up.

Or like half time in the Champions League final when the ref got sick of Arsenal's time wasting and blew before the corner was even taken.

It was a brain fart and trying to claim anything else or blame anyone else is ridiculous. Even if he did play on Limerick had possession anyway.

And it's even sweeter because O'Connor is a big Arsenal fan and was talking about them midweek in the lead up to the match.

The only difference is Davy actually won an all Ireland

Nothing to Do with the Match , just thought it was cool .

My time coming down was tight but as I arrived the stadium just before thrown in , I saw a cork supporter Running at pace away from the stadium with his phone in his had . Another Supporter from Limerick on is way in , (Headphone Guy) saw him running away from the stadium and asked him what was wrong, Cork Supporters Ticketmaster wouldn't load and he couldn't pull down his ticket , Headphone Guy confirmed he was heading into the Terrace and pulled out a spare ticket to which I am pretty sure was handing it to him for free . Nice job guys . Nice job.

November weather in June good to actually get a win down there .

Limerick could easily have won that by 6-7 points. Wouldn't be too harsh on the wides as the weather looked shocking on telly. Gillane I thought wasn't too bad in general play, just the shooting which on another day most of them could have gone over - as long as he keeps getting on ball and creating opportunities it'll be ok. The multiple missed goal opportunities I thought were going to haunt us in the end - it's almost funny at this stage how the greatest group of hurlers ever to come out of Limerick are by the standard they do everything else, really poor at converting goal chances. I'm a bit surprised by BOC attitude as the year has gone on - I thought he was going to instil some sort of toughness and there'd be no feeling sorry for themselves, just get on with it, take the belts and give the belts but he's hard to make out. I think the Limerick reaction was as much about the closeness of the game rather than the result itself - if we'd won by 6-7 and it was looking likely with 10 mins to go, we wouldn't have seen that emotion but the tension, even watching on the telly was unreal, especially when GH hit the post with a 'simple' tapover was at a level we haven't experienced for a few years. Great for players to be able celebrate that win for a couple of days now and slowly prepare for war again in 4 weeks. To 'lose' only 1 Munster final in 8 years considering the standard of the teams they have faced is astonishing tbf.

I didn't think Gillane looked right tbh, I was actually more worried as a Cork fan about him being subbed and Adam English coming on. Just an off day and it was the right call to sub him. You'd have to say Kiely got the substitutions spot on in general, the Limerick forwards as a unit really opened up in that last 15-20 mins.

    They were booing Owens.

He was abysmal yesterday again. It's the inconsistency that drives people mad - every county's fans think he's favouring the opposition.

There was plenty of room where I was and I had kids with me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,903 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

They definitely didn't let too many in. Those days are gone.

WWas comfortable where I was but we did have to go low into the corner to find something. People bunch into certain areas and also crowd the spots by the steps so looks busier than it is.

Class stadium in regards to vantage points. I've never not had a perfect view no matter where I've been.

Corner spots are better imo. You get a better view compared to being directly behind the goals.

In the middle of a heated conversation in the bar yesterday during the match, a Cork supporter and a Limerick supporter decided to relax tensions with a bit of comedy

    "why isn't that a free?"

"because there was no foul committed"

"yeah but this ref doesn't care, he just hands them out like sweets on Halloween"

    "hmm fair point"

Anyone there could hear Cork fans booing freetakers from first free so it wasnt Owens. Irony was AOC doesnt take any longer than Corks own freetakers. Its just really bad sportsmanship from Cork fans that they have persisted with for a few years now.

Hamstring. Kiely hopeful he will be back for semi final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,048 ✭✭✭C4000

O Connor attempts more difficult frees from a range that Gillane doesnt go to, so youd have to give him more leeway on misses.

I did think he looked a bit unsure on them yesterday though. There was one free from a central position on the half way line, with the wind behind him, and he ended up tapping it short to Byrnes who was in a more difficult position to shoot.

Gillane very rarely missed an important free that I can remember.

I don't agree. You'll always get idiots who try to upset the opposition but I could only hear significant booing whenever one of the weird frees was given. Same for Shane Barrett's non-free Limerick people didn't boo Connolly taking the shot, they were booing the fact that another strange free was given. As I said, the inconsistency of Owens drives people mad and they do jeer accordingly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,079 ✭✭✭slegs

There was booing of Owens by both sides later in the game….but Cork fans booed both AOC and to a lesser extent Diarmuid Byrnes standing over frees where it was nothing to do with decisions. I know what I heard.

I’d say get the hearing checked, spec savers do hearing tests too if you’re near one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,186 ✭✭✭hans aus dtschl

I didn't hear what you heard. I heard people jeering for uncharacteristic missed frees. But I can't speak for you. I definitely heard many people jeering for a ref constantly trying to level the game though. It can be infuriating to see soft frees then no free for the same thing two seconds later. I forget which Limerick player got a free for dropping the hurley while grabbing the Cork player's arm, it was just unpredictable. And people will boo that.

I don't know why people would boo a free-taker - I've never heard anyone complain about a free-taker. Or about the time they're taking. Especially when their team is leading, why would you complain about the time taken over a free? It's illogical.

I'm not saying "nobody boos a free-taker". Because obviously plenty of people in any crowd are idiots. But this idea of "cork fans always boo" and "cork fans are the only ones who boo this much" seems….strange…to me. Why would that be the case? What would they be hoping to achieve? Surely the booing is for the decision, not the free-taker himself?

He's right though. Watch back the highlights - it was very obvious that Cork fans were booing the free taker. They've been doing it a lot this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,186 ✭✭✭hans aus dtschl

Baffling. I'll take your word for it but that's absolutely baffling to me.

I'll be honest I've only had tickets for a few games this year and maybe it's happened in the games I wasn't at. It doesn't make any sense to me, jeering at a free-taker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,186 ✭✭✭hans aus dtschl

I was surprised he stayed on for a few seconds to try and see if he could "walk it off". Hopefully I'm wrong (maybe he was just being super careful of himself) but I don't see how he goes down like that and doesn't need more than 4 weeks unfortunately. I always underestimate how tough these lads are though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,048 ✭✭✭C4000

If its a grade 1 he could be ok. Kiely said he needs 10 days rest and could then start back building it up.

Do Limerick fans not boo too? Genuine question . Not saying all obviously but definitely a minority
