Duplotastic: Anyone know if the gravel situation up around the Sally Gap has improved? Wondering in advance of W100 this weekend.

I’d be very interested to know this too? Or any comments on the rest of the 200 route? Looks like it’s going to be windy…

Galway Croi cycle is on this weekend as well.

Any update on the gaps? Was shocking a couple of weeks ago, but can't imagine the event organisers haven't been out inspecting the route and working with council?

Or am I giving them too much credit?

Weather not looking great but this is the only sportive I've signed up for this year.

I haven't done it since they stopped looping the lake but tomorrow should be a tough spin considering the conditions forecast!

I did the Sally Gap last week and it's fine, certainly coming up from Manor Kilbride as we'll be doing tomorrow. My club did the Shay Elliot today and nothing to report.

In the end the W100 route was grand. A few little gravel patches but nothing approaching the horror stories I'd heard a week or 10 days back.

And the rain even held off. Score!

Really liked the route. Hadn't done this sportive in a while as the old route from Bray didn't float my boat, but this version is miles better.

Really liked the three peaks challenge route, beautiful. Unfortunately got caught up in a group crash in the first 20k or so, first experience of crashing on a road bike wouldn't be in a rush to try it again 🤣

Yeah thank god, no damage to myself or bike (Garmin mount got broken). Group crashes are terrifying as there's nothing you can really do, couldn't go left or right or I'd take someone else out of it so had to go straight into the guy in front who had gone into those in front of him. I hope no one was seriously hurt. Give me a MTB crash any day of the week.

Some jackass was shouting abuse at people after (while said people where trying to help those still on the ground)

    Any idea what caused it?

    Glad to hear you're ok.

Not 100%, we where in the lead group that started at the official start time and had caught a smaller slower moving group that took off earlier. My take is that someone moved out to avoid the slower group and clipped a wheel behind leading to Domino's.

Nasty. Haven't seen this happened in a sportive yet in my experience - touch wood.

At the moment, I'm on the fence for this one @Wishbone Ash as I've had a foot injury for the past few weeks, apparently with rheumatoid arthritis being the underlying driver. Is sign on available in the morning should I reckon im up to it?

Yes, you can sign on in the morning. We don't generally advertise it to encourage advance registration. Be great to see you there. Thanks.

Did the Tour de Burren 160km yesterday. Could not recommend it enough. Fantastic marshaling and great food stops. The views were to die for and the weather was the cherry on top. Tan lines can only be described as crisp!

Did the Mondello 24 hour this weekend and really enjoyed the time there. Our club entered an 8 person team, but we started with 7 and ended with 6, but had a good time and finished 3rd in the mixed category and 8th overall.

Really enjoyable (and tiring) weekend on the bike at a well ran event. Weather was an added bonus too!
