Surely Cork v Offaly would sell Thurles out on its own? Then put Clare v Dublin in maybe Portlaoise.

Quarter finals generally don't sell out, I can see a good few not travelling and aiming for Dublin for the semis instead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 728 ✭✭✭Pablo Escobar

They don’t, but Cork haven’t been in a quarter final since 2024 right at a time when the support exploded. I do think if this goes on general sale from the off it’ll sell out.

Winning Munster would've been nice but it's not the end of the world. The way i see it we were missing Darragh Fitz and they had the wind at their backs in that second half and still only beat us by a point.

Congrats to Limerick anyway but for us it's all about getting back to another all Ireland final and Offaly and then Galway stand in our way. Of course our record against Galway in the Championship in recent years is very poor, but sure if we slip up against either of these teams then we quite obviously are aren't good enough this year.

Beating Limerick three times in the one Championship campaign would've been a huge ask, but there's no guarantees that either a Cork an Offaly or a Galway will be playing them in the final.

The way i see it Clare have hardly done any hurling yet and they're still in the Championship, and they have players with all Ireland medals themselves. Still though we're most likely looking at a Cork and Limerick all Ireland final with Galway and Clare being the more underdog option final pairing as such.

Was Ben the only one in the stadium that didn't realise time was up?! C'mon now like we were a minute over the alloted time, did he want salt and pepper aswell....

Brilliant coach but this one was not the refs fault

Agreed I’m a bit surprised he went so hard on it. Time was 2 mins over when the free was taken - you have to take a shot first time there and if it doesnt make it then at least it falls in the mixer

Ball winning capability or lack of in the half forward line is still an issue i feel. It's been an issue for the last two decades at this stage.

His eyes look so intense in the interview,, would he drink a case of redbull matchday or is that his everyday demeanor.

Not sure, was proposed when they changed the format alright but didn't happen for some reason.

There will be no all Ireland won until we start winning more puckouts in the opposition 65. This has been an issue for 15+ years in Cork hurling.

We still havent found someone like Niall McCarthy and Timmy McCarthy for that job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,373 ✭✭✭thefa

Definitely. Could you even argue that the best half forward at winning puck outs is still Harnedy? I don’t rate our ability in general to win high ball or dirty ball.

Think neither team was fully on it today and limerick probably deserved to edge it. I think the loss would’ve hit more if we’d lost Munster last year.

Didn't hurt Tipp last year - they have had issues in that dept for 20 years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,005 ✭✭✭almostover

Their half back line cleaned us out completely in the 2nd half of the final last year.

Clare did the same in the final the year previous.

And Limerick did the same today.

We're winning nothing until that changes.

Look, if we can't beat Offaly and Galway we aren't good enough to win the AI anyway.

He reminds me of Mike's Arteta and not in a good way.

It seems people outside the county bounds have an issue with Ben O'Connor's personality, but then again the last manager we had Pat Ryan was an absolute gentleman and people still seemed to have it in for Cork regardless.

Personally myself i won't be complaining too much if he gets us over the line. Ger Loughnane and Brian Cody could be abrasive enough personalities at times as well, and yes i'm aware that Ben hasn't had the same success as a manager as those two yet.

I can understand why but I remember people saying they didnt like Pat Ryan either for some reason that escapes me.. it also got agreement from more than couple posters too. I even remember JBM was not liked by people on boards here years ago.

We are just not liked. So a manager who bit forward is the perfect excuse.

Dont have issues with that. Each to their own. Thats way it is with many things.

'The ref told William O'Donoghue it was the last puck' - Ben - 'nice of him to tell Willaim but not us' I got a chuckle off that.

Cork players should have asked to be fair, but a ref normally instructs you it's the last puck, but he didn't say that to the Cork players, a tad strange but we weren't scoring from it directly anyway so it wouldn't have made any differene.

I like Ben, I like how he has gotten under the skin of a lot of folks in such a short time. He calls it as he sees it.

Offaly in 2 weeks and probably Galway 2 weeks later. Get over them and see Limerick in Corker.

If that happens, I reckon the players would relish playing Limerick again. Plenty of players can play so much better than today, we only lost by a point.

was in terrace yesterday and both sets of fans were shocked Collins didn't go long at the end ….and they're no gripes from Cork fans around us the the final whistle was blown. In fairness even the third touch went short.

Ben O Connor is going on like Davy Fitzgerald at this stage , it’s always the refs fault . Cork fans booing all the time is also turning off the neutrals big time , all counties have a few fools behind the goals but seeing middle aged men and women in the stands booing doesn’t happen with other counties in football or hurling , never happened in cork until recently. I loved watching Charlie McCarthy, Get Cunningham , John Fenton , Brian Corcoran, Joe Deane etc when there was none of that carry on .
Cork will beat Offaly handy but Galway could be tricky.

Pat Ryan was hugely popular outside of Cork Jimmy Barry Murphy was a legend to people all over Ireland , Ben O connor was a legend as a player but is becoming painful to listen to after matchs like Davy Fitzgerald.

Got a good old laugh out of limerick thread where Tipp lads were thrilled, only for limerick lad to unintentionally take piss out one of their games.

The old cork teams would come back and demolish limerick but I have no faith in this cork team at all. I think Galway could beat us too.

What post was that taking the piss out of tipp? The disrespect mostly from cork folk over last years All Ireland win is a big reason why tipp lads don't want to see cork win. Up to last year i would have had no problem with cork winning but the rewriting of history by many cork people of how crap Tipp are and how in gods name did they beat us, horgans comments about getting caught by tipp etc. Not 1 limerick pundit and not much on here by limerick lads either btw about tipp being poorest team to win all ireland or any crappy comments in general about last year. Kiely even said he knew tipp were onto something last year as they limerick hit all there metrics against tipp and still didnt beat us.

Listen here, Bubbles and plenty of Tipp people like Babs and Lahy talked thrash about Cork in past too.

Its grand for ye to do it but ye sulk when somebody else does.

Ye deserved the all Ireland last year better team ye won it. Enjoy it ffs.

Don't recall any ex players saying they were caught after losing a game by 15 points to cork. Babs bit before my time tbf and is well off ignored, horgan and some cork pundits and cork posters here and on proc i am talking about. Not you in particular btw.

Again what limerick post was taking the piss out of tipp?

P.S we thoroughly enjoyed it last year. That's gone now though.

You do realise that Shane McGrath on RTE tips the opposing team against Cork every single time, right? Waterford, Limerick, Tipp, Clare…literally over the last two years he has tipped every single team against Cork every single time. It is very much standard for some ex tipp players to talk down Cork in the media. You can go on the RTE website and read his past articles and give yourself a chuckle.

When it's Clare we all hear "ah we'd love to see someone else win for a change, rather than Cork" when it's Limerick it's "Cork play a strange type of hurling and Limerick are such honest lads" etc, there's always some kind of reason put forward that it would be better if Cork don't win.

Today's thing I'm reading on the Limerick thread is "Cork fans are the only ones who boo" etc. Some people just don't like Cork, it's that simple, it doesn't really need to be a conspiracy.

But let's not pretend the thrash talking is all from one team please!

It is so repetitive it's actually funny. Then to read that it doesn't happen is truly comical.

It's just irrational dislike of a side. I disliked the Kk side of the 2000's irrationally myself. Didn't like their style of play, didn't like the manager blah blah blah.

"I'm a neutral and I was hoping Cork wouldn't win" is something I read online over and over. I've lived through eras of Cork hurling dominance and I understood people hating Cork then, but I don't understand what people have against the current Cork side tbh. They're bringing huge turnouts, it's great for the game. I really don't understand the so called "neutrals" on this one.
