I've given up on the implementation of steps a long time ago, and hand passing has gone the same way!

Throwing the ball has replaced the traditional hand pass in hurling?

    Gillane is very poor today!

This is a free fest now. A lot of what's worst with modern hurling on view.

Another poor game, basically just fouls and throwing the ball.

Limerick are in trouble. Wides will cost them. Gillane gone off now.

LLimerick Are most definitely not the force of old... peak Limerick would not be dropping balls short into the Keeper

How many scores from play? Almost everything is a free

I'm not being provincial, anti Limerick or Cork but this is turning into a hard watch.

This is poor stuff. So many frees. In general hurling rules and equipment have to be looked at. Sliotar - weight and rim size.

Galway would beat the pick of the two of them

To be honest. This is the way it needs to be reffed. And as a Galway man I've no love of Owens. One thing he is strong on is the pulling and dragging of the free arm. If he matched it with steps and throws and his colleagues joined him for a season and "ruined" a lot of games, the referees could fix the game on their own. Players will continue to so something they are more often than not punished for.

I appreciate people will say "he has ruined the spectacle" so what. Its ruined because both teams are breaking the rules. He's implementing a lot of the rules correctly.

The "free flowing" merchants I'm sure will come out spitting fire but the game is how the players play it. Not how the ref refs it.

Limerick would be ahead had they not went for 50/50 goal shots

No he's reffing it as should be. And it's showing up how much our game has become pulling and dragging.

Barely 30 seconds goes by between frees. Stop start stop start. Is there any site that keeps track of stats? Would love to know how many frees there’s been so far and how long the ball has been in play.

You'd imagine Gillane would have scored them two missed frees

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 392 ✭✭Firstsub

Gillane hit 3 wides from play, don't think he scored today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,659 ✭✭✭Gael85

Cork more efficient team in front of post, only 2 wides.

Cork will win because they've a better free taker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,126 ✭✭✭FintanMcluskey

Hegarty needed to hit that into the ground

ref set it out early with the soft penalty to cork, he’s been consistent since then with the possible exception of the potential penalty for Limerick in the first half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 109 ✭✭Imeall an cearnóg

Limerick never not at it, Byrnes carrying the ball 5 yards past the line striking the 65

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,713 ✭✭✭giveitholly

It wasn't a soft penalty,it was a penalty,as it should of been for Limerick.

Why Cork didn’t take the handy points when they’re on offer is beyond me.

    Cork's puck outs been awful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,163 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

Should have been blown up a minute ago. Play for the draw typical GAA

Some of the worst puck-outs I've ever seen from Cork today. Just gave the ball back to Limerick constantly.
