Above purchased new in April and from day 1 idles at ~ 1000 RPM even when fully up to temperature. Just now, after a 15 km trip, VCDS shows a idling speed of 996/1002 RPM, coolant temperature 92C, (Tacho display shows ~ 1100 RPM), all auxiliary electrical loads off including interior blower.

A 2019 65BHP TSI Polo in the family idles at ~ 760/780 RPM and only increases to ~ 1000 RPM when the clutch is pressed before moving off.

Is this high idling speed normal for a turbocharged TSI or should I get it checked out?

Just ring VW garage service and ask should you be worried, they know their cars better than boards.

They'll probably just want to book it in for a diagnostic at around €200 per hour.

1,000 RPM is definitely not a normal idle speed

as everyone said.. it’s 2 months old. Bring it back and don’t bother with boards

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

Thanks for all the comments, just would like to extend the +60 years without ever having to return for warranty work, if someone would care, on the same model, or a Fabia mark4 to just get the tacho displayed with the digital Kph in the center while idling then this will confirm if I need to do this. Just press the "View" button on the steering wheel to change the display, display can then be changed back to its original after noting the RPM.

Try turning off the air conditioning. Sometimes small engines have an "idle up" feature to boost the aircon.
