Better than Keane but it is kicking the can down the road again. The club had 6 months to sort out a new manager, did they even approach Askou? doubtful

MON is a legend of the club and of the options that were being mentioned, he's still the best.

But it shows an unbelievable lact of planning from the board. They had 6 months to find a manager.

This would be a great move if it was to stabilize the team while a restructuring of the club was taking place but I don't think anyone believes that's going to happen.

The big worry is that the club will decide because he's only here for a year, they won't invest money and rely on loans in the summer

We just have to hope that MON wouldn’t take it unless certain conditions were agreed on. There’s a massive job to do with top players like Maeda and Engels leaving and a load of dross to be removed from the squad before you get around to recruiting adequately. MON might be able to keep the club top in Scotland but we need rid of Desmond and co. to properly progress the club.

Dodged a bullet there with Robbie Keane. It would have been a disaster for him as well. Just shows the shocking lack of sound judgment that Desmond displays. The fans that helped prevent that disaster are to be applauded. They are the lifeblood of the club and the reason the club is what it is. Desmond will go at some stage. The sooner the better because the longer he stays the more he will sully his legacy.

As an outsider looking in i'm sure MON got some assurances from the club before signing on for another year. Last season was an emergency so he took it to help out but now he needs to be given the tools to succeed.

Getting assurances is the easy part, Rodgers no doubt got assurances that things had changed when he came back the second time. Keeping the board to their word is the hard part

The paucity of options for the position is a direct consequence of Desmond backstabbing Rodgers on the clubs own web site and that coming on the back of Lawwell/another director backstabbing Rodgers in the media. Desmond caused severe reputational damage to Celtic within the professional game and as a result there was zero chance of any established elite level manager coming to Celtic as a direct result of Desmond's behaviour.

TBH Martin been out the game for so long would he have targets in mind? do you think he is a bit far removed? he needs to bring in his own scouts he can trust.

The board need to look at themselves and the dirt they have signed since Ange, who clearly had his own list and the board were more than happy to oblidge as most of them were cheap and "On him" if they failed.

This transfer window needs to be right as the team needs a big shake up

He doesn't necessarily need specific targets - he just needs a list of what attributes he requires for players in specific positions, and the reassurance that Celtic's own scouting and analytics team will secure players to match those needs.

He does that and its game over….. "we can identify what you are looking for, for 9 million, but found the exact same player for 3 million………

So we will go with that instead"

He needs his own people in there to identify targets and those targets only, you give them clowns a bit of space to do it and its going backwards again

The rumours going around that we have low balled the contract offers to MON's back room team are worrying but not unexpected. Seems the board have learned nothing from last season.

Add to that Nicholson being appointed to the SPFL board which pretty much guarantees he's staying on as CEO and that there'll be no change in the structure of the club.

For me it's draining my interest, seeing the same lack of ambition or a plan from club

MON confirmed on 1 year deal with option for another year.

The best option available when the board have sat on their hands for 6 months.

No word on Maloney and Fozzy though.
