    Hi Lads,

Would you be able to recommend a specific TV model thats allows you to scan for both DVB-T (Soarview) and DVB-T2(Freeview) and keep them in a single easy to use EPG ?

My mum has a freesat box but cant work it so i am looking for something simplier that can plug directly into the tv for her.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Offerinshops.

    Thanks for the post.
In theory you are not supposed to be able to receive both at the same time as one is a UK broadcast and the other a ROI broadcast.l

Freeview is NOT transmitted in the ROI unfortunately.

However there are some areas in both NI and ROI that can receive both Soarview and Freesat and the stations will then be in the same EPG but I can not guarantee this unfortunately and as I mentioned Freeview is not suppose to be broadcast in the ROI.

Here in NI if you can pick up Saorview it adds it onto the end of the Freeview EPG but the stations are all mixed up.
Again it will be mostly likely that you will NOT be able to get Freeview in your area in the ROI.

    just to Bump this thread

UK freeview via an aerial is most definitely receivable alongside saorview in many parts of RoI along the East and southeast from wales if you have the right aerial gear

    (And in border counties)

I’ve a tv from yourselves where I receive both in Wicklow and simply re ordered the channels so the first 20 on the epg are the most watched saorview and freeview hd digital terrestrial channels

I’m in the market now for a good Sony that can do this, max budget about €400 and no bigger than a 40 or 43 inch screen if you can recommend? Thank you

    It’s for a bedroom

P.s my late father watched the coronation of the Late Queen Elizabeth here in Wicklow from Wales back in the early 1950s with a lot of his neighbours,at a time when many parts of NI had no BBC tv reception !

    Thanks for the post pureza.

From my own understanding - all of the TVs we sell will operate with Saorview in ROI with a terrestrial aerial signal. If you want to get UK channels you can get a TV with Freesat built in and use a UK postcode (the LG TVs have both Saorview and Freeview tuners) but I can't guarantee any of our TVs getting UK channels via terrestrial signal unfortunately and I'm not too au fait with specific aerial equipment!

Would you be looking for a TV with both Saorview and Freesat which can guarantee the UK channels? The Sonys will have a satellite input but not a Freesat tuner (ie no ordered channels or EPG). LG would be the only manufacturer who offer both EPGs.

    Kind regards

    David

    Ho David,

I’d be looking for a tv preferably Sony that does UK freeview hd terrestrial as I’ve perfect reception of it from wales in Wicklow and obviously saorview

    I love the Sonys’s

    I don’t need freesat

Any current TV should pick up both Saorview and the UK Freeview so it all depends on your budget and screen size preferences

    Hi Pizzahead77.

While that is correct, most TV's can pick up Saorview and Freeview but it depends on your location.

Freeview is officially not available in the South Of Ireland as it is a UK based service.

While some areas in the ROI may be able to pick it up, form a sales point of view we must tell customers that freeview is not available in the South as to not miss sell any of our products.
