The Rotunda being a posh hospital is news to me. You are running the gauntlet between the unwells to get in the door.

Fintan has been invited on, according to de promo.

This caller is not very typical of Liveline callers.

She knows that she is talking about, can speak very well and is quick to respond to questions posed to her by the host.

    This lady is 100% correct.

Private maternity care gives huge comfort after a miscarriage or difficult birth. If women want to pay for private maternity care then the option should be there.

I went private on my 3rd baby and the difference was amazing. I dont think I was cared for at all during my first 2 pregnancies.

Ah good, Chris, an American on the line to tell us how the Irish health service should be run.

I went private twice for continuity of care, I was terrified, seeing the same person each time really helped, gave me confidence and took away some of the fear.

What happened to Semi Private? Has it been dropped?

Mount Carmel was the private maternity hospital for Dublin. It got sold to a property developer, who went bust. The System bought it and now it is a stepdown hospital.

This lady will get a bad line or cut off soon, she's super!

Chris should come back on after he has given birth himself- until this happens his opinions are irrelevent 😁

    Get him off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,304 ✭✭✭✭zell12

Chris is making too much sense! In the greater scheme of things, we are a Republic where all citizens are equal, there should be no priority for those with money

Chris: "The ample surplus we have in the (health) system."

Right. The HSE has a deficit of a quarter of a billion Euros for the first quarter of this year. Around 900,000 people on waiting lists. But, sure, we have an ample surplus.

oh fook off Chris, the patronising tone off him, get in the bin

Did Jessica not say earlier that she and her husband are in well paid jobs? Now she says her salary is average.

In an ideal Ireland yes but our Healthcare system isnt ideal

I had a bad experience after the birth of my 2nd baby ( im lucky to be alive ) due to being ignored by staff and suffering brisk blood loss. I cant even walk back into that hospital now as that trauma comes back to me.

Went private on my next pregnancy due to what happened and I was looked after brilliantly. In private care I was listened to not ignored like the public system.

She said she worked 2 jobs to get the money for private care

Bet if something was wrong with Chris's mickey he'd want to go private and have the choice, but sure what do women know!

Maybe they are comparing themselves to Kiki's salary. He started to go on about the consultant salary at the start of the show, but then seemed to realize that his is on around the same amount.

Another sensible caller, this is great! Kiki will be in shock.

a doctor on line 1! who had a babby in de Rotunda!

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 14,685 Mod ✭✭✭✭pc7

That's great it all went well for you caller, but the point is its down to choice, you choose to go public, some of us choose to go private. Now the choice is being taken away when it isn't for other medical services.

Have a look at de wans hanging around the entrance to de Rotunda puffing away, in their PJs and dressing gowns.
