Many players disappear off playing football / hurling / etc. the minute the rugby season is over. There would be very little appetite for this I'd say.

Theres fallow weeks in between the 18 rounds of regular season but that gives players/clubs a break/time for family etc and a 3-4 week break wouldnt happen it would require training etc still twice a week to get to know the players. i dont see it being popular. the junior interpro series works because these guys get recognised when they otherwise mightnt. no harm in that. AIL has an international team that recognises players, like versatile says maybe get a provincial AIL team to play their own provinces A team of academy/contracted players like munster did a few years ago but a full on series just isnt needed.

Do they?? Would a lot of lads from say 2A-1A move on and play CLUB GAA?

On reflection maybe an AIL combine v a Province A/Academy might be better. Give it a bit of promotion and could get a decent crowd etc

Several from my Club in Limerick do anyway. I'd imagine that's not unusual.

Obviously those on the fringes of academies etc. don't Im sure

I know it was a thing 12/13+ years ago AIL players would just go off play rugby league in summer specially limerick lads lemaki and mcclouskey the garryowen players amongst guifoyle and a few others from dublin club doubt its a big thing now days though.

Barely posted at all this year, first and foremost congrats (through smiling gritted teeth) to St Marys, and all the other clubs who won their leagues, great for the area to have two winners in four seasons from D6. Living abroad means harder to follow games but the social media for most clubs and the games streamed are a huge. Looking forward to see the new clubhouse open in Terenure too.

I assume it is silly season already for player transfers, love seeing the gossip here for it over the summer months.

Quiet up in Ulster on player movement.

Jack Stapley from Nottingham to Hinch is the most notable.

Assume there are other movements across the clubs but believe Sean French has joined Terenure for next season

    Dublin clubs splashing the cash???

I thought French was an excellent schoolboy with PBC, such a shame he never kicked on in the Pro game, Munster lack of ability in developing players impact French also??

A few coaching moves doing the rounds. Rhys Ruddock is in as Head Coach at Lansdowne, while Declan Fassbender and Richie Allen have moved across to Blackrock. Also hearing whispers that Andy Wood could be stepping down at Clontarf. Hugh Hogan taking over as Head Coach at Belvo and Mike Orchin-McKeever is in at Hinch.

Andy Wood has been stepping down at Clontarf for the last 5 years it feels.

If he was doing so, we’d have heard by now you’d think. Pre-season starts in a few weeks.
