You don't have an entitlement for information to be released about an incident that may still be under investigation.

Ah but shure don't mind that or any of those other countries - that's just far-right propaganda!

It'll be grand here in Ireland because shure doesn't everyone love the Irish and Guinness!

OK now you're really reaching to justify your position!

Descriptions of suspects are given out all the time including in this case - the difference is that because the alleged perpetrator in this case isn't white, the media and information issued is desperately trying to avoid saying this.

Again it's as obvious as your post but no-one is fooled!

I would say the problem of late with pressures from things like manipulated social media etc is any middle ground is getting squeezed and increasingly the extreme is becoming the middle. Those who make bank from online discourse copped on long ago that many, even a majority of people like echo chambers, they like their already held positions to be proven right. It's one reason why forums as a medium died off. It's harder to avoid contrary views.

Many don't want other arguments. Most people are too busy to have to think too hard about stuff, so they outsource their thinking and feel better surrounded by their tribe that reinforces the credo of the tribe. Human nature. Newspapers knew this from early on in the printing revolution, pamphleteers even more so. The early days of the internet wasn't unlike the early days of printing. It was geeky, even elitist to a degree and required more knowledge to engage. As it got much cheaper, more accessible and reduced to byte sized chunks in your pocket it didn't and needed to sell what sold and tribalism sells. We're in the hapenny pamphlet stage. Commercial Radio and TV followed a similar trajectory. Outlets like CNN/Fox/GB News were inevitable. Only nowadays it's all so much more directed and adaptable because of the tech.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

You're saying that a description of the suspect was given in this case, then trying to claim that it's being suppressed. Which is it? Make up your mind.

You're well aware of what I'm saying but I'll spell it out again for you.

The description that's been issued in this case is so vague and generic that it's pointless. Why have we not been officially told his race/colour, eye colour, approximate height, any tattoos or distinguishing marks (he's already been charged with a prior serious attack so all of this is on file I'm sure), last known location, clothing he was wearing etc to assist with any sightings or additional witnesses that could help here.

If he was irish and white I'm sure we'd nearly have his home address and the pub he likes to drink in - and you know that too!

I've no interest in yet another bad faith poster though so I won't be reading or replying to any more of your posts.

The one account on twitter that keeps an eye on the number of work permits issued to non EU nationals is @nwl88444048. For May 2026 3316 were issued. That's an average of 3000 a month give or take, with approximately 30% of them being Indian. Like Kaiser said,if they're IT professionals we'd have to dig down deep into what roles these people are taking, and whether they could be filled by locals or other EU candidates. Go into any shop or garage and see how many Indians are working behind the counters and then think about the high rate of youth unemployment. This isn't a dig at the people who take those jobs, more at the system and the lack of enforcement.

Then think about housing and other infrastructure needed to accommodate them. Where is that coming from?

When most of us say "social justice" we mean equality under the law opposition to prejudice, discrimination and equal opportunities for all. When Social Justice Activists say "social justice" they mean an emphasis on group identity over the rights of the individual, a rejection of social liberalism, and the assumption that unequal outcomes are always evidence of structural inequalities.

Regarding IPAS. according to current figures there is a 20,000 backlog + backlog of asylum appeals, with 562 judicial review applications by failed asylum seekers. Unfortunately the maximum number of such judicial reviews completed has been 35 annually. So this will just continue on, until the bould Jim says we'll have to give a blanket amnesty.

But there is also another option, one the Irish Times mentioned this week, remigration.

EU has agreed a mechanism to allow member states send failed asylum seekers and others not entitled to be in the EU to asylum "hubs" outside the EU.

Under the Treaties we are allowed opt in or out but we have opted into the Migration Pact. The part on deportation to hubs outside the EU is for each country to decide.

How long before we get a “EU must hate brown people” type post

Being a bit facetious I’m afraid😄. Given our experience to-date I could imagine our crowd getting weak at the knees about offending the empty vessels constantly crying far right, racism, knuckle daggers, etc, etc. I could imagine Holly Cairns having a right meltdown in order to play to her crowd

Whatever about Cairns having a meltdown imagine what Coppinger, Murphy and Gannon will be like.

I agree that works visas need to be examined and people should not be employed from abroad in lower paid jobs unless the employer can show that they tried to employ Irish people.

The problem is Irish people not taking up lower paid jobs . Incentives to make work pay need to be looked at and the DoSP should be more active in encouraging people to take up that work even part-time but not lose their benefits until employed full-time .

Youth unemployment is seasonal and many do not get enough on social welfare for it to make a difference if it is stopped if living at home . So no incentive .

DsP need to take a harder stance on non nationals who spend excessive time on social welfare.

The guardians Nasrine Malik spoke to

"Dr Ebun Joseph, special rapporteur on racial equality and racism in Ireland, about what is being called Ireland’s “George Floyd moment”."

    https://www.theguardian.com/news/2026/jun/03/yves-sakila-death-ireland-deeply-rooted-racism-problem

These **** stirrers are a danger to social cohesion in our homeland.

Dr Joseph is doing the rounds it seems. Obviously she has to justify the NGO funding. On LMFM today:

"A Dundalk man stabbed to death off Grafton Street in Dublin’s south inner city tried to flee from his killer but was pursued for a distance before being caught and wounded several times.

The man, named as Qayyum Balogun, collapsed on Clarendon Street and could not be revived, with his killer escaping before gardaí arrived.

We were joined on The Agenda this morning by CEO & Founder of the Institute of Antiracism and Black Studies, Dr Ebun Joseph, who told us about how shocked and heartbroken she was to learn of yet another black life gone on the streets of Dublin.

Dr Jospeh told us that there are too many black lives being lost and as a community we all need to address this.

A Dundalk man, did she mention the race of his killer? Or mention Alex Coughlans death? Is the good doctor only concerned with black lives matter?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,832 ✭✭✭Patrick2010

Just read the Guardian article, she regards Ireland as a racist country citing as proof we don’t have any issue with UK immigrants, maybe because they don’t arrive seeking asylum and looking to be looked after?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,579 ✭✭✭batman_oh

A hate filled idiot that gets paid out of Irish tax payers money to tell them that they are all filthy racists. The kind of turd that drives division by making everything about race and one side the perennial victim that can never be wrong and promoting the idea that everyone is racist against them

She comes from an affluent, politically connected family back in Nigeria.

Why is she even here if we are all racist?

There's no logical relation between the labour marker and work permits.

Between April 2025 and April 2026, the workforce employed in IT services, and Accommodation+ Food services fell by almost 40'000.

Employment Labour Force Survey Quarter 1 2026 - Central Statistics Office

Yet in this same period the state issued a combined 7500 work permits for non-EU workers for those 2 sectors.

Employment Permit Statistics 2025 - DETE

The line we're always told is that the booming economy is creating jobs faster than we can fill them, so if we don't bring in tens of thousands of immigrants the economy will grind to a halt. But how can they justify dishing out so many permits for sectors where employment is shrinking?

Did 47500 Irish workers from IT and the food sector retire in one year alone? Or did they all switch careers to become carpenters and teachers instead?

I was trying to Google on what grounds she got to Ireland. She could be a legal immigrant but I can't find anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 249 ✭✭Resplendent Moose

Did anybody say "we are all racist"?

Or is the messaging more like that there is a minority racist component who are disproportionately stinking up any discussion with their bullshit?

It seems to me that the only source of the "we are all racist" claim is racists themselves, and they've been using it as a DARVO tactic.

If somebody doesn't like being told they're engaging in racism there's a simple technique that they can do from the comfort of their own home - stop being a racist.

How many are not in IPAS anymore but are now in houses or apartments all on the tax payers bill?

Or how many came here as an EU citizen but have never worked a day. That Romanian guy with the wheelchair being a recent one. The Puska family. The Roma mobs.

The DSP numbers indicate 33% of SW recipients are non nationals yet make up 23-24% of the population. I presume that doesn't include IPAS population?

If there is significant EU natives on long term SW then they should be deported.
