Still on my original delivery date of the 10th/11th June. Getting Obsidian. The black one looks to be the most in demand. No surprise there, I suppose.

Same, dhl are useless for that. Scanned in Dublin 9.30am, says all day it’s due today (still does) but clearly was never put on a van.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 10,322 ✭✭✭✭mik_da_man

At least yours' made it to Dublin, mine is still traveling around Europe..

Looking at a similar situation for me today. Scanned at Shannon at 8am this morning and 'out with the courier'. I'd imagine tomorrow is a more realistic date. I've had that a few times with DHL. It's a wonder they don't fix it, as people probably have them damned looking for information, expecting a parcel that day.

usual out with courier means it’s on the van, mine was updated to that this morning at 9.30, but has yet to arrive. Usually DHL come by now, so not hopeful.

How has all the tracking been so far? Seems a bit hit and miss for some

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,363 ✭✭✭Barr

I'm mainly using it for sleep and seems fine . Use a smart watch during the day .What are the misses I wonder ?

Arrive early today. Just setting up and took the 3-month trial for the coach. Absolutely zero intention of holding on to it, but just wanted a look. The app is very bare bones at the moment, and I look forward to that improving soon. Very comfortable to wear and looking forward to getting a few different bands for it. Will definitely work for sleep tracking in my current setup in combination with my Apple Watch during the day. Also look forward to wearing normal watches as well now.

have seen a fair few pictures of people wearing it as a normal watch strap with the Fitbit air on the underside of the wrist also. Interesting idea.

currently testing stats etc v Apple Watch. Seems roughly comparable. Sleep actual stats very similar although Apple scores very high for same sleep 96 v 85. Resting heart rate a few beats higher on fit bit air but again I think it averages over waking hours not sleep. All in all seems solid so far.

Does that defeat the purpose entirely? I thought people were wearing this so they can essentially leave it on near 24/7 and not have it really be noticeable, but if it's attached to a large bulky traditional watch, you may as well just go the whole hog and get a full fledged smart watch and get much more features and capabilities for both watch and tracker.

The sensors that these devices (fitbits, apple watch etc.) use are designed to be work on top of the wrist. From everything I read the data and results from wearing on the underside of a wrist will be less accurate and unreliable, kinda defeating the purpose of tracking the stats.

You are meant to wear these trackers below the wrist bone, on the opposite side of your hand, and on the outside of the arm. That's how these are all designed to get the most reliable readings.

a lot of people seem to like the idea of wearing a traditional watch and either the Fitbit on the other wrist or the fit bit under it. Specifically to avoid the look of a smart watch.

Appears to be little impact on the tracked stats from the various anecdotal evidence from the Fitbit air forums. I don’t see why there would be when there are armbands in the works also and people wearing them on ankles etc.

I guess not everyone is the same?!

Personally I can see a fair number of occasions where I would wear a traditional watch instead of Apple Watch, most likely with the Fitbit on the other wrist. especially now if I don’t lose out on a days tracking.

That's exactly my use case, I just wish it would arrive 🤣😭

yeah likewise, I wear a Garmin every day, and I want to get a Bicep strap for this when it is available. The only thing I'll miss is the ability to set timers quickly rather than having to use a phone

It's more to do with the location of arteries and veins in the body it measures off. Upper bicep facing in aligns with the bicep's brachial artery and has a lower chance of movement. But they're all close enough so go with what's comfortable. I just happen to find there the most comfortable too

Mind blown , took me a while to figure that setup…. sure makes efficient use of wrist real estate if it works 😁

Positioning: Wear it on the top of your wrist, about one finger-width above your wrist bone (away from your hand

At €100 this is of great interest to me but is the charging cable extra?

Or for the €100 do i get a complete package of unit, band & cable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,879 ✭✭✭caviardreams

You get a charging cable just not a wall adapter plug thing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,121 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

    large bulky traditional watch..

It’s just a watch but agree it defeats the purpose

That all comes in the box but no wall plug - I have the cable plugged into a laptop and it works fine

happy with how it’s working so we’ve used the credit towards a second one for the household.

Is there some minimum age limit for it . I have a 15 year old who has the google health app but can't connect to the fitbit air . It brings up a few kids devices ... he wasn't impressed 😁
