Pity there was no hooter for minor matches. Our keeper never looked like saving one, was amazed no one rared up over the Kildare keeper coming off his line for the penos

Complete collapse in that second half. Woeful.

Dreadful shooting from everyone at the end, Aaron lynch at flashy crap instead of putting it over the bar. Extra man nowhere to be seen. Ugh

Good lord, saw the score at half time and thought we'd have enough. Got back to my car after 15 minutes of the second half and got the shock of my life when I heard we were 3 behind. That's two games against Cork where we've played more than 20 minutes against 14 men and have done absolutely nothing with the extra man. Cork outscored us with the extra man by the looks of it. Also, you'd have to wonder what exactly Aaron Kernan is doing as defensive coach given that this is two straight games where we've conceded 30 points.

Season is in danger of fizzling out now after a promising league which would be a massive shame. Likely need a decent draw to prolong our season.

If we draw any team from outside Leinster (bar Cavan) in round 2B I think it could be a short summer.

A lot of youthful inexperience imo. Winning by 8 and maybe thinking game is over. Plus looks like we have no plan as to how to play with an extra man.

Lots of potential but need to start learning these lessons soon.

We were absoloutely shocking that 2nd half. So poor. Kickouts poor, defending poor and giving away stupid scorable frees.Midfield out of it and forwards making poor decisions with passing and shot selection. Subs had very little impact. We weren't amazing in the first half either, cork could have easily had a couple of goals. Cork looked like the had the extra man at the end.

Whatever Kernan is doing isn't working so either change the plan or change the personnel at the back. Some very naive defending again ,anytime we lose a kickout the opposition team normally gets a score. We never seen to have a plan when we get a lead up.Cork were able to see out the game at the end a man down.

I think this is it. It was pretty clear early enough what the ref was blowing for frees but the lads persisted with the tackling. Three scores at least came off dissent making them easier. Then we had a breach right after Brennan kicks a two pointer. A bit of cop on and you win that game. Even things like Coffey going for goal right before half time and Morris went for goal earlier in the half off a tight angle out around the edge of the D. Taking points there would be huge.

Some terrible wides in second half, two singles would have done near the end, but persisted in trying to shoot two's.

There should have been a quicker change to try to curb sherlock also.

once the Leinster was gone it’s hard to know what you get out of the season maybe quarter final again makes up a bit. Need to be ready for league next year staying up in division 1 next year I’d take over quarter final this year if u had choice . We need to be a solid league team for a few years until we end up like mayo or Kerry or Galway , survive in division 1 while still tinkering with the team

So the potential opponents in round 2B are Kerry, Kildare, Dublin, Roscommon, Cavan, Monaghan and Derry. You'd say the only two teams out of those that we'd be favourites against would be Kildare and Cavan (and I wouldn't exactly be confident against either of them).

    Draw is Tuesday morning.

You could add Dublin to Kildare and Cavan and i would be very confident Meath would beat Dublin easily.

Another away game, against Derry. Not ideal. Winnable if we up our game but, the way we're playing, not confident at all.

yea as soon as they pulled Derry out I was saying not Meath, then of course its us! Dont mind the draw tbh just a pity we didnt get home game. I think Croker would've been great for us but anyway, to Derry we go!

Not a great draw for the fans ,another long away trip.

Think its a 50/50 game. Derry are hit and miss. Need to tighten up massively at the back though. Flynn back from the start will be a big help.

Away on holidays for this. Anyone ever been to Salou and watched games in any of the pubs there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 149 ✭✭Jamemid

Yeah was there a few year ago.Was in the Danny boy and they were showing matches.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 725 ✭✭✭PaddyCar

Hopefully its on the tv for you. I see only 5 out of the 8 games will be televised.

Derry City are playing a LOI game in Celtic park on the Friday night so likely the Meath game will be on Sunday to give them time to sort out the pitch

The Dubliner will have it on. Loads of places will. You won't be stuck.

Be sure to grab some knock off gear too. No better place than Salou for it!

i think meath v derry wont be televised , seems neither team is a media darling like some of them playing that weekend, dublin and cavan is two div 2 teams going at it but might think cavan could get a famous victory so they will show , louth media luvvies will definitley get put on as will cork v donegal, westmeath another media favourite will definietly be shown as well, id say kerry game and meath game wont get shown live

Cheers everyone. I am coming to the realisation that it likely won't be televised at all and I'll be holed up listening to LMFM.

Enjoy your last day out this year..Looking forward to seeing Derry put your booboys back in their place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭snowgal

Id be surprised if its not televised. Alot of podcasts/ posts saying its probably one of the more exciting games of the picks…We should know today I think?

I'm going to keep this here given that you thought a Dublin fan was a Meath fan. Good job!

Match on saturday at 7pm. Typical gaa,no taught of fans travelling to games.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 11,930 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Stupid time for anyone travelling up. 7-8 hour round trip with anyone travelling back on the Saturday likely not getting home till after midnight.

Will be on GAA+ so I'll be parking myself in a pub at that time! Thankfully no major World Cup game on at that time (Qatar v Switzerland) so hopefully it'll be easy to find.

Minors quarter final is this Saturday in Semple Stadium against Cork. Chance of a bit of redemption after the disappointment of the Leinster final shootout loss.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,249 ✭✭✭Dickie10

what did meath do to anyone exactly ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 506 ✭✭✭Greengrass53

Ystill got the gist of my message though so all's good . 😉

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 11,930 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Minors were well beaten by what seemed to be a very strong Cork side yesterday. McGuirk though chipped in with another 1-3. He's looked like a phenomenal player pretty much every game he's played.
