When will we hear about GFA? I applied, but the process is quite opaque.

    From the Dublin Marathon website

'' all Good For Age applicants will be notified of a decision via email by Tuesday, June 2nd.''

You'll definitely get an entry. See the DCM website for transfer dates, etc. There will be plenty of them. Train as if you have one, like me!

I've literally never heard anybody who wanted to get an entry not getting one.

Well done on the sub 4 in Helsinki. Runners tend to be always happy to listen to somebody else's story!

Thanks Fazy.. appreciate the reply and cheers for the congrats!. I’d literally talk to anyone and everyone about running 😂💪🏻👍👍

Just got my GFA acceptance email, had a buffer of 3 minutes 55 seconds from last year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 161 ✭✭MrMan

Just got mine as well, buffer was 5 mins 3 sec.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47 Jahoby

Got in on GFA too, buffer was just slightly under 5 mins in the Men's senior cat for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,771 ✭✭✭sk8board

    got in as well 👍.

I’d be surprised if there are many who didn’t - ie was there any cut off time on the quali times?

I got a GFA spot just now. I’d 23 mins under the standard for my age category.

got a place 28mins under the M45 cutoff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,771 ✭✭✭sk8board

this is the lowest buffer so far - I assume they applied a flat cutoff across all categories, if they needed one.

ran Boston a few years ago and made the cut-off by a few seconds :)👌

I haven't received any emails yet.

I suspect my buffer is too tight. Im a minute under the qualifying time.

Maybe the accepted emails go out prior to the unsuccessful emails. Although, my eventmaster says status "complete" but that could have been like that from the moment I applied.

Either way, well done to all who got in on the GFA.

    Got in.

I had 15' to spare for M55 (but only 8' to spare for M50 when I ran quali time)

Got an email to say I didn't get in. Had a 6 min 18 sec buffer for m40-44

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25 evvyd1888

^^^^ same. Had a 8 min 56 secs buffer for M40-44 but got knocked back. I guess a lot of fast kids in their early 40's these days!

Sorry to hear that for you. It does make me feel a bit better that I missed it by a good bit though.

    I was unsuccessful.

Not surprised as I was very tight to the qualifying time (54 seconds).

Napkin math model of what the potential cut offs might be here based solely on Dublin 2025 results and what's been posted here, assuming applicants were sorted within each age category and around the top 65% of GFA runners were accepted. Sub-2:20 finishers removed as elite outliers.

I got in m45 group with 10 minutes buffer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 161 ✭✭MrMan

Thankfully, the napkin maths are wrong for the M60, I got in with a 5min 3sec buffer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1 fraser_eraser

M45 rejected with a 23 min buffer (2:53), emailed them to ask why, I'm guessing a mistake by me on the entry, a mistake by them or they went with a lottery instead of fastest first

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,771 ✭✭✭sk8board

Very odd alright. You’d like to think they wouldn’t have turned a performance-based entry into mini lotteries by age category.

The Boston-style single cutoff system is brutal but very fair.

Got acceptance for M35 with 7 minute buffer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,470 ✭✭✭crisco10

M40 accepted with 13 minute buffer. (presuming its age on race day, not qualifying day)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,118 ✭✭✭Trampas

Some races it’s the age you ran qualifying time on and not the age you will be on race day

Yeah I would suspect its wonky for the older ages, seems to be somewhat accurate so far for the age groups with the most gfa times (M45, M40, MS)
