    I’m sure the process will be investigated, there are already politicians stating concerns.

    That said, given that that company is the only one thus far which the Ukrainian military has accepted for trial use of humanoid robots in their war, they arrived three months ago, it is also possible that they have a genuine product worthy of support for further developmentment. Certainly the Ukrainians seem to think so, unless you want to suggest that they are also in on the cronyism.

    The trumps invested in the company knowing they would get large contracts from the military. It could also be that they strong armed the company into selling them part of their company with the threat of exclusion from government contracts.

    That is definitely not procurement reform.

    We have ample proof from failed projects and wasted money that the previous process didn't work well. As one general observed at an industry conference last summer (I actually go to these things, believe it or not) , if industry came to him and said "General, we have solved gravity. We can make a 400 ton flying tank" the response is going to be "We don't have a program requirement for that. We should be able to plug it into the FY29 allocations."

    I have also linked to multiple industry media who probably know what they are talking about explaining why the acquisition reforms put out are a good thing.

    Now, either give me a rational, evidentiary, objective reason why this reform is not a positive action, or admit that your dislike for the administration is so strong that you will oppose any action by pure association as opposed to its individual merits.

    That can be true, but you do happen to have the worst possible administration changing the process for the worst possible reasons. Their incompetence at everything they do will ensure it ends up costing even more than the previous procurement processes.

    Remember:

    Everything they say is a lie for self-aggrandisement.

    Everything they do is to enrich themselves at the cost of others.

    Some end up with a crisis of conscience and end up leaving, some get pushed out when the incompetence is made too obvious.

    Right now, all you can do is keep your head down, follow orders and try and veer the worst of it into something slightly better and make sure you don't end up one the wrong persons radar for doing it. Good luck with that for another 2.5 years.

    We have seen time and again that this Administration is placing personal profits ahead of soldier's needs. As you pointed out, there have been failed acquisition program after failed acquisition program over the last 2 decades, and even the ones that have gone into production are riven with issues and cost overruns. The memo reads wonderfully, but does little to address one of the fundamental issues with procurement programs, which is the cozy relationship and revolving door between the military decision makers and the defense companies. This new approach is more than likely going to make it that much easier for companies to sell the military more useless kit. It drastic lowers the threshold required for these companies to sell their stuff.

    Yes, I have an inimical distrust for this administration, well earned. The corruption is the goal, and no one better to get their hands dirty than Trump and co.

    You said you believe the reform being put forward by Hegesth are to be welcomed.

    I'd like to ask you why you assume anything this government is doing is in good faith, when there is such ample and readily available information to anyone that cares to see it, they are inherently corrupt and self serving in every single way, failing which, I will assume that you don't really care about what this administration does, so long as it aligns with your own personal views.

    anyone else think that the American political system is crazy and needs reforming. So much power devolved into one person and it’s fine when the person is fundamentally sane but when it’s a complete moron like we have today then you have to question it…..🤷 don’t know enough about the ins and outs of it to be able to recommend changes but for those that so…..what changes could be made to safe-guard a nation from ever again having such an utter excuse of a human (Second only to Putin) as a president.

    It is meant to draw reference to the thread and make comparison between an incredibly similar deflection tactic used by Trump and his supporters. It amuses me how much those who wish to defend Platner can't or won't notice the Trumpian tactics they employ.

    Also the story never completely died out because his explanation was laughable. But some people are just desperate to support the guy who has a new red flag brought up every few weeks.

    That's the problem though. He says something absurd and then someone factchecks him. By the time they're done, he's verbally vomited out hundreds of other things. On top of this, MAGA doesn't care.

    I remember getting exhausted with the levels of ignorance in the UK on display during the Brexit years. I can only imagine how numb the average, non/anti-MAGA American must be by now.
