A day at the races.

Been a while since I was at an outing, was away in April. Have played very limited golf this year (5 counting rounds total). Woke at 0545 – and with the heat and light – there was no going back to sleep. Felt I had loads of time and did , but between one thing and another – ended up almost late for my tee time. Some preparation. Then my cart was not working. Didn’t seem like it was going to be my day on track. But – then a few of the usual heads around and a nice gift of a book from Benny – words of encouragement from Roadrunner . Got head in the game.

Crossing a race track is a very odd first hole experience – and the course never feels like it is going to be a proper course – but even the holes on the inside – have used very clever greens and bunkers to make them proper tests and golf holes. I was lucky to have 3 lads I know very well – all well seasoned golfers and well able to play. All 3 like the banter – but take their golf seriously – maybe more serious than myself.

When I have played golf – have for the first time in my life, had shanks – and even had a round of over 100 strokes for the first time in definitely 5 years plus anyway. A few physical reasons for this – but still was like an outer body experience.

I was playing with Benny, Break 80 and Space – I was delighted to see how well they were all swinging – and for the first time in Ireland in a long time – you could see real speed off the faces for all 3 of them . Whilst I tend to be negative enough about my own game , I was very positive for the 3 lads. Solid shots – going for greens and flags.

Was delighted to see Ken hit such great drives – great irons – something not just right with short game just yet – but it is only a matter of time now till he has another big score. In fact it is necessary at this stage now. He is just that 10 to 15 % short of getting to them mid 80s and lower.

Kieran has definitely found power and better ball striking – he was very seriously punished for his bad shots today – and unusually for him his wedge play was not up to his usual standard. But good signs there for the season ahead.

I don’t play with Em much these days ( a good friend of mine in the real world) – but not only did he look the part , you could not fault any part of his game really – another one for Em where the scoring did not match the quality of his all round game.

We had a bit of banter -but we were taking the game serious enough , we had a few holes where things went a tad a miss for us all – but overall we were happy with how we navigated the tight course.

The course is unusual – lacks a tad bit of conditioning – but it is a great course and makes demands of you off the tee. The holes inside the race track in theory should not work – but they have done well maintaining great green complexes that turn on the face of it, simple holes into interesting challenges.

Myself and ken considered a race up the last furlong for a bet (handicapped of course) – but with not enough drink and too much age – the idea went to a place all them ideas end up , in the back of my head somewhere . To be resurrected at some point in this life or next.

My own game – there was signs of hope there , broke 80 , always a joy , but it was more a case of it was breaking 80 at a canter . Not a gallop. Was a great feeling to be back in the mix in a few of the competitions – and even the long drive for the older lad.

We hit the clubhouse or grandstand – Tiger and Seve did a great job getting everyone on the road after a long day. Tiger ( very thoughtfully) said a few words for our great and much enjoyed member Bobster.

I know it is too easy to use the old horse racing analogies (but that never stopped me before) – but you never know what is around the next bend – the final fence or furlong – you don’t know when the going is good - or when it will be yielding – you sometimes got to take the reins – or pass over the reins. But I know – we will all be together again soon, chomping at the bit – on the first tee stalls.

Thanks again lads – enjoyed that one , was much needed.

Winner alright, winner alright!

SP: 10/1, 7/2, 6/4f

🥇 @Snackbox20– 41 pts
🥈 @Ciano35 – 36 pts better back nine
🥉 @FixdePitchmark -36pts

Back Nine: @Concerned2
Longest & Most Accurate Drive (6th): @Alanm
Longest Drive (18th): Fixdepitchmark
Twos: @FixdePitchmark and @Sorbet

No nearest-the-pin thanks to some joker (non-Boards member!) writing down an unbeatable shot. 😁

And unfortunately, no "Most Golf" prize today... captain's privilege! 😎

Thanks for all the help as usual, lads. Especially @Seve OB and @spuddy4711

Well done @Snackbox20 great score

It turned out to be a great day for golf. Lovely temperature, the odd sprinkle of rain, plenty of sunshine, and the course was in excellent condition.

My own game started well with three solid bogeys, which probably should have been pars if the putter had cooperated. I was swinging it nicely and thought I was in for an unexpectedly good day until we reached the 4th, index 2. What a beautiful hole, but it fully justifies its ranking. Tight drives, well-placed trees and a bit of pressure saw my game collapse like a stack of cards. To be fair, I was running on fumes after a busy couple of days, so I wasn't entirely surprised.

@RoadRunner was absolutely striping it on the tree-lined holes and hit some tremendous drives , but was just shy of @Alanm on the 6th .

It wasn't @paulos53 day from the word go . He must have got out of the wrong side of the bed 😎. Some very uncharacteristic shots early on, although he finished strongly and nearly claimed the longest drive on 18, ending up just a yard short of fixdepitchmark.

@Sorbet was slow out of the stalls but came alive on the back nine , including a great two on the 10th. Even though @roadrunner denied him the honour on the next hole the par 3 11th 😁, it didn't stop him nearly making a hole-in-one.

Apart from my own golf, it was a very enjoyable day. The course overall was in great nick with some beautiful holes I'd forgotten about. I'm looking forward to returning in the near future with my A-game.

Next up is the first Signature Event of the year 😉 — Rathsallagh. There may even be a few bonus points on offer for this one... 😂

Well, try as I might, the hat-trick was never really on the cards.

Would have needed to shoot a 74 to match @Snackbox20 great score.

Got off to a solid start and was only +1 through the first 6 holes. But 2 pieces of bad luck in a row on 7 and 8 set me back.

On the tight 7th I hit a nice 3w down the right side of the fairway. Left a 9i in which hit the right side of the green and jumped right and nestled at the base of a tree in heavy rough. Could only nudge it out unfortunately and couldn't get up and down from a shortsided bare lie.

On 8th, the shorter par 5, hit a decent enough drive which left the green reachable. Hit a 7w and hit it too well. Through the back of the green and found it, but buried again, against a tree, this time unplayable, so had to take a drop.

Made a great up & down from a shortsided bunker positivn on the NTP 9th for par, to turn with 18 points. Was playing well and could have been much better without a couple of nasty results from good swings.

Couldn't get things going on the back 9. A lost ball off the tee on 11 meant a scratch as I had no shot on the hole.

Played the harder holes well, and the easier ones poorly.

Overall felt I played really nice golf but the scoring didn't match the play.

A perfect catch up with 3 mates, @FixdePitchmark @Break80 and @benny79

I hope I can hit the ball as well as Break80 does when I catch up on him with age. Strikes it great, especially the 3w. And is a super lag-putter. Not much dropped on the day, but he never leaves himself any trouble with his second putts.

A couple of big misses left him in trouble unfortunately and put paid to his hopes.

Benny has come on massively as a golfer in the last year or so in terms of swing and technique. He does most things well, has to be just a matter of time before he drops significantly. He's his own harshest critic and probably needs some better perspective as he can beat himself up over actual good shots at times.

Fix has had his issues in recent times with injuries that have impacted on his game, so it was a joy to see him hitting it well yesterday. I was faster out of the gates, but he finished the front 9 really strong with back to back birdies for a super front 9 score.

Lost his way for maybe 3 holes in the middle of the back 9. And Gowran is a course that will punish you for losing your way. On another course you'd probably get away with a couple of those shots but he hit is poor shots on the wrong holes.

Still to see him shaping the ball and adjusting flight was super. To me, the shot of the day was his shot on the par 3 13th. He hit a terrible tee shot, like high shank over the trees right, on to the far hole. Went for a look and found it. He had a "gap" (generous description) and took it on. I had a direct view of it. The strike was perfect, so was the flight and the line.

Strange to think of a shot through trees as the best shot of the day, and I think he even may have still scratched the hole, but the execution was perfect.

Loved Gowran. Yes theres wear and tear, yes its rough around the edges, but its a cracking course, with holes that wouldn't be out of place on top championship courses.

A great day out with boards, the weather mostly held up, so we were lucky in the greater scheme of things.

See ye all soon

Another very enjoyable day out with the Boards crew yesterday. I had the pleasure of playing with @weapon of grass destruction who thankfully this time managed to stay on his 2 feet for the whole round, @bakerbhoy @ciano15 .

Ciano played very well and was quite solid the whole way around, but a few silly mistakes probably cost him the win. Bakerbhoy was as steady as he always is. Weapons was his usual joyful self, good stories and great craic.

My game has been trending well, but for some reason I turn up at boards events this year and it's been muck. Wasn't feeling great for a few days and to be honest when I woke yesterday, heading out to play golf was the last thing I fancied, but I hate missing a boards outing. I don't even think I had a highlight but there were a few good shots hit.

I have played Gowran a few times, but I didn't really remember it. What I do remember was though, I always came away thinking it was a really lovely golf course and in fairness, it's hard to fault. A little rough around the edges and the fairways not what I'd be used to, but not bad condition. Greens were soft and fluffy, but even though they were slow, they rolled well for the most, I just struggled to get them.

thanks to @tigerwood1 for organising the day and for @bobster453 we missed ya, get well soon bud.

see you at the next one

Greens were soft to firm, going was good.

Horse racing and golf can have very similar outcomes, be an outside bet and save the bookies, romp home to win and victory leads to plaudits in the parade ring, have a round of golf like I did in my home course today and this donkey deserved to be escorted into the glue factory 😁

Round 4 of the Boards Golf Society brought us down south Leinster to Gowran Park race course. I last played here under @spacecoyote captaincy. I actually felt like a racecourse running for the winning post, as 3 minutes before we were first to tee off, I got some gems of Peter O' Sullivan from @charlieIRL as I had to run back to my car for my phone to declare my round on the GUI.

This was the second time racing on the section of the track as on the 10th I realised I dropped my glove after the 9th hole.

Travelling with my now regular co-pilot @get2thechoppa we grabbed a bit of pre-round sustenance in Paulstown. Arriving well ahead of time, I had the pleasure of playing in the first 4 ball again with both @charlieIRL , @spuddy , both who I had really enjoyable round above in Concra wood and this round was no different, with @get2thechoppa , it was a great round of some great shots and great chats during the round. Some of these "chats" proved inspirational to get2thechoppa as on the 6th hole which was the accurate drive hole, he piped a driver cutting the dogleg and leaving short of 40 yards to the green, this was the marker for most of the outing until an arrow from @Alanm took the spoils, great drive Sir!!!!! Choppa had mighty distance of the driver and was knocking in some great putts albeit some greenkeepers revenge on the pin placement.

Likewise @charlieIRL was also getting the driver dialled in and both he and choppa were setting the stall with the LD on the 18th, @charlieIRL hitting a near 296 yard drive to set the tone. @spuddy was nice and consistent around the course getting a lot of up and downs with his very clever short game. 3 great players for the round.

I wasn't sure how my game was going to go that morning, from my slight wayward drive on the first and making a 6 to start I got into my head quickly just play to your handicap and I was very happy with my tee shots and also my shot selections. Where I would have before tried the hero, I played the lay up and I could see a score starting to build as I came in on the turn with 21 points

On the 10th a double from a sand escape and 2 putt didn't put me off and it was a reset for the 11th, got the same strategy in play and my game continued, my highlight of the round was a birdie on the index 1.

Going into the final hole, I had 38 points, had my driver just off fairway with 159 to flag, the 7 iron which did no wrong got my onto the left side of green with a very long putt for 🐦, but lagged a putt to within 1.5 ft and after a lot deliberation tapped it in for a 41.

Delighted to have come in with that score and to have a win after a long spell since my maiden in Arklow.

A great days golf with excellent company.

Congratulations and many thanks to Captain @tigerwood1 for organising along with the stalwarts of the society, the excellent committee a great days outing and for the prize. Thanks as always go to @Seve OB for the work on the cards and scorecards.

Well done also to the prizewinners on the day.

Looking forward to Rathsallagh in June for redemption 😁😁🏇🏇.

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend folks

Lovely day out with Boards on Saturday. Thanks a million as always @tigerwood1 for all the organising - proving to be a brilliant captain with some great course picks - this one was one to remember even if my own golf was largely forgettable.

First of all huge congratulations to @Snackbox20 on the really impressive win - not an easy course at all with a lot of danger for any wayward shot at times so 41 points and 5 points clear was a great result. Particularly delighted for @Snackbox20 as in my short three years with the society I don't think there is anyone who loves it more - I know a Jug spot is treasured by all the members but no one would begrudge him pushing on and claiming a spot in the big show this year 👏.

I had the genuine pleasure of playing with @paulos53, @RoadRunner and Captain @tigerwood1 in the final group. Although I don't think any of us lit the course up with our golf we all had our moments and @RoadRunner by the end had put together a decent round - some of his drives on the back nine were a sight to behold and set him up for some great holes. He was sick though to be pipped on the 6th by @Alanm after an incredible drive.

It's the hope that kills you.jpg

"It's the hope that kills you"

Wasn't to be.jpg

"Is it closest to the green that win's?"

I find @paulos53 is an encyclopedia of knowledge on the game and was counting this round as his 11th counting round of the month of May - impressive in it's own right but event more impressive when you heard that was in 11 different courses! Maybe it was one too many in the month so no win but some fine moments - in particular his attempt at longest drive on the 18th where he was a short roll away from winning.

@tigerwood1 by his own admission didn't have his best round and he began the race for most golf about halfway round - he and @paulos53 battling for it for a few holes before Captain's perogative wisely called it off! Still some of his irons have amazing contact and he played some lovely holes amongst them.

Tigerwood1.jpg

For my own round - I think @tigerwood1 put it best on the first tee, he was surprised when he was doing the handicaps to still see me where I've been for a while and not pushing on. I've been playing a reasonable amount at the weekends but I haven't really made a concerted effort to practice and improve. As a result I had some lovely holes and then some not so lovely holes. My highlights were on the 9th and 10th par 3's. Hit a six iron (I'm a short hitter!) onto the front of the 9th green only to sink the putt for my first two with the society since my very first day out with Boards in Corballis a few years ago - good to be getting a return on all that 2's money I've donated in the intervening years! My real nearly highlight though was on the next hole where I hit a lovely shot that was all over the pin and genuinely I thought I might have my first hole in one. Wasn't to be just ran by but I'll remember the shot. Overall though despite not scoring well still enough good stuff in there to suggest if I finally put a bit of effort in there's improvement to be had.

Great fun, conversation and mood in the group and despite my poor shots from time to time I was reminded how lucky we are to be out there enjoying it while some would love to be there with us - hope to see you back soon @bobster453.

The course was the real star - it may be a cliche but this one really is a diamond in the rough. With a little more TLC people would be raving about this place. I was expecting the holes outside the track would be great and the inside ones would be poor and was surprised at how good some of the internal ones were too.

Really enjoyed the day - sorry I had to run off afterwards but had to be back in Dublin early - thanks again to @tigerwood1 @Seve OB and all the organisers and well done to all the prize winners. I'm hoping to be able to make Rathsallagh but a few things to organise so if I don't see you all there will see you soon.

Well done snackbox, delighted to see you finding a bit of form on Saturday

Kept your cool for the entire round and it really showed. Yardages were so good and those last 3 holes, hybrid to the long par 3 16th, and those two iron shots into 17 and 18 were just sublime. 17th from the right rough into the tucked in pin and you could not have placed it any better, 20 feet under the pin. Keep her lit for the rest of the year and thanks to the captain and all involved for what was an enjoyable day

My first time playing Gowran Park and I found it enjoyable. The juxtaposition of the holes inside the race track versus the holes in the forest is really interesting because it feels like two entirely different courses. In the race track you can be fairly wild off the tee, in the forest you need to be hitting it straight or you're in big trouble.

I found the greens soft and slow, the total opposite to what I'm used to. That said, they were in good condition! The fairways were a little hairy, they could do with a trim.

I started the round well enough with bogey and then par, but I followed this up with an inexcusable scratch on the 3rd. Green side in 2 and I bladed two chips across the green.

Unfortunately I was battling with the driver for most of day on Saturday and this cost me as soon as we went into the forest. I struggled to find a fairway. I finished the front 9 with 16 points but it was a battle to get them.

The back 9 the wheels fell off. A poor bogey on 10 after a poor tee shot and a poor chip. And then I scratched 11, 12 thanks to some wild tee shots, and I scratched 13 thanks to again a poor chip putting me off the back of the green.

I managed to get the driver under control on the 15th, to come in with 12 points on the back 9 for a 28 overall.

Went round with @Alanm , @Macker1 and @Concerned2 , three gents. @Alanm I think I've played with 3 or 4 times but not for a while and he has gained some serious distance off the tee with the driver! A cracking 77 on the card and probably left another few out there. On the par 5 8th I think he hit driver 6 iron to within about 4 feet for a cracking eagle. @Macker1 had a day like myself, hit and miss, but great craic to play with as always. @Concerned2 is very steady, just a few wayward shots cost him an even better score.

Well done to @Snackbox20 , great score, and all the other winners!

Thanks again to captain @tigerwood1 and all the other folks in the background who contributed to yet another smooth outing.

Looking forward to Rathsallagh. I am due a decent score at a Boards outing, I don't think I've broke 30 points in ages!

Tough day at the races on Saturday. Thanks to captain @tigerwood1 for bringing us to Gowran. It was my first time there in about 10 years, but the round cemented my view that it is a real hidden gem. The initial holes on the course followed by the tree lined very picturesque ones make for a continually interesting challenge.

The 1st is a wide open drive, but i somehow managed to catch it off the toe, hit the road never again to be seen! Good start then. Left in the stalls.

Improved a bit from there but couldn't really get the speed of the greens. They looked fast but somehow I was always coming up short. The Par 3's saved my round. Parred all of the first 4 which gave me nice points but also some momentum at the various stages of the round. Nicest strike was a 7i down the hill on 10th to about 12 feet, no 2, but an easy par.

My back has been at me and I think this had an effect. My body seemed to not want me to interact with the ground and I hit some very strange irons and fairway woods which either went in an odd direction or I ended up walking after it. This was highlighted on 17th by pulling a 52° wedge into the furze bushes. Strange day all round. Parred 18 for 30 points which I was happy enough with under the circumstances. 4 lost balls and a few 3 putts, hey ho…

Played with @scotty_golf9, @Antokelly5 and @TrueDub. Really enjoyed the day, gentlemen all of them. Played with Scotty before and it is a pleasure to behold his drives. Didn't take enough off on the 6th and was just in the rough on 18. Best drive was 17 where he was about 50 short of the green. Not enough dropped for him top contend. Anto has had better days I would imagine. But with his injuries, he is probably happy just to be out and about. He has a massive drive as well and could launch a ball with huge height to stop easily. Truedub has a consistent game that will improve with some more short game practice. Strikes a lovely ball off the fairway and manages himself most of the time to not try to be a hero. Spoke about moving club to somewhere closer to home to gain more consistency and could see his HC plummeting at that stage.

Well done to @Snackbox20, delighted for you lad.

Thanks again to all the committee for the day. Hopefully, body willing, I'll see you in Rathsallagh.

Gowran has a great mix of holes, like said above, you can be wayward off the tee inside the racetrack but a few yards off line for the remainder of the holes and you are in trouble, and in trouble I was loads of times on Saturday. I actually sank some decent putts for a point early in the round but on a lot of holes, I just left myself too much to do to score. I was on some of the par 3’s with my tee shot only to 3 putt them, then my driver deserted me until the 17th. Still, it was a great day out with @Snackbox20, @spuddy4711 and first time to play a round with @get2thechoppa. Three gentlemen and lads I’d have no problem being part of a fourball with every weekend. I had the pleasure of marking @Snackbox20 card for the day, some very controlled and sensible golf was played. He drove the ball very well and you need to do that to score in Gowran. Fantastic score dude.
I didn’t mind the condition of the course, ok the greens were slower than what a lot of us are used to but the whole place was still in great condition.
Fair play to @Alanm for beating @get2thechoppa for most accurate drive and feck ya @FixdePitchmark for beating my longest drive, was one of the best drives I’ve hit in years!!!
Well done to all the winners on the day, I hope everyone enjoyed it. See ye all in a few weeks.
No need to post my photos as Snackbox put them up!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

A late account, and a short one.

A fun day out in Kilkenny, on a course I'm still not sure about. The variations from inside to outside the course made it difficult for me to settle into the round, and the tightness of the holes through the trees was a big ask for a high handicapper. It was certainly a pretty course, with some lovely designs & green complexes, and they made the most of the landscape features around.

I played with @Antokelly5 , @boccy23 and @scotty_golf9 , all gentlemen and great company around the course. Plenty of chat about sport (not just golf), work & life in general.

Congrats to @Snackbox20 on the win, and thanks to @tigerwood1 and all the committee for their hard work. Looking forward to Rathsallagh now!

Great post round reports guys.

Well done to @Snackbox20 and all the winners.League table starting to form nicely towards the squeaky bum time of the season.

Well done again to @tigerwood1 and all the hard working committee, your efforts are greatly appreciated by all.

For myself, I am hoping to be able to make Captains Day, thats my current target.

Keeping well, a slow process but effective.

Thanks for all the good wishes and keep posting.

What a great day golfing!

I have to say although its been a while since I played Gowan what a real hidden gem it is! If they had the money to improve the conditioning it really would be a super Golf Course. I loved the 4th hole was it? that I was told is a replica of the famous hole in Augusta where Mcilroy drew it around the trees for the grand slam! and I had the pleasure of Parring it. Alla mini inner Mcilroy. Hit a great draw of the Tee with a baby draw and caught the speed bump.. I actually invisioned Mcilroy's draw standing on the tee.. with an 8 iron in hand with a 150+ yds to the pin, my baby draw deserted me and I hit a high push in the tees ffs 🙈 alla Mcilroy of old with wedge in his hand! lol.. Just give me a gap I taught come on.. and a gap I hand not a particular great one with the over hanging trees to go under, dyke to go over and a nearside pin. But I executed it perfectly to the edge of the green and sunk the putt on such a stand out hole! Thank you Dan Grieves. (If you know you know 😉) I played good golf all day but that was definitely my highlight.. Unfortunely unlike Mcilroy I didnt get the win. I flew a few well struck shots over some greens which mainly cost me. My distances have increased a lot this year. With some a 2 club distance so hard to trust at the moment. As I am in situations were I am hitting 9I and I used to hit 7i from same distance 😯

Congratulations @Snackbox20 on a brillant score and great win! Delighted for you buddy.. Keep it up that will go a long way for you on making the Jug team which I know you so deperately want.

I had the pleassure of playing with 3 great friends at this stage in @Break80 @spacecoyote & @FixdePitchmark so it was always going to be a good day. Even if the golf wasnt but in this case it was @spacecoyote was on fire and I really taught he had it in the bag! 1 or 2 holes cost him as he got my lies lol.. in the rough by real unlucky bounces you could not write it! (if it was me Id be use to it lol) just a little long and a terrible bounce but sometimes golf can be a cruel mistress and at his HC and level 1 or 2 bad holes costs him more than most..

@Break80 has unreal power of the tee for a Cork Langer still amazes me how far he gets it out there but unfortunely some great hits which were straight but in wrong direction lol. cost him a few lost balls but he kept the temper at bay lol.. Maybe because he bottled are usual bet 😉 as he seen how good I was playing on the first few holes. mental note make bet sooner! but like must Cork people they usually bottle it in the end… Ouch 😂

@FixdePitchmark The best I seen him play in a good while his game was like the Fix of old! and him too. Late to Teebox rushing as usual and having something malfunction lol.. Typical Fix.. The sly dog praised everyones game all day and complained about his 🧐 yet he was flying it 2 birdies in a row at one stage I think and still down playing it. He was like a good poke player! Came 3rd and had longest drive and if I am not misake walked away with a 3rd prize think is was the 2's. Yeah buddy @FixdePitchmark your game is sh!t 😂

But a brillant day was had with great company and usually great golf!

Thanks Captain @tigerwood1 at least you got one thing right this year! 😁

Now onto Rathsallagh golf Club.. Heard its the second best Course in Kildare 😉😂

Was great to get out at Gowran again. My second play, I think I played it in @charlieirl 's year? I really enjoyed it then. And 10 years later (probably?) I really enjoyed it again. Hope to not leave it another 10 years, it's a perfect society course and really nice mix of holes.

Busy week in work, so a bit late getting back and my memories are already starting to fade 🤣

Played with tiger, paulos, and sorbet. None of us really playing amazingly for the full 18. I opened with birdie having found fairway bunker with my drive. Hit nice 7 wood out of bunker, and pitch and putt. I started getting good vibes after a perfect drive down 2. That ended quickly after a bladed wedge to bunker green left on the 2nd, and a few too many more swings to get the ball in the hole from there. It went mostly downhill after, with an appalling sh4nk right on the 5th hole. Hit a good drive on 6, to find I was outdriven by @alanm who's game is looking truly unstoppable at all levels at the moment.

Best moment was sorbet's birdy on nine followed by an ACE on 10. Almost. Rolled right by the hole.

Great craic in the group, with captain tiger the centre of all the fun. He has taken the reins very well this year and has me already looking forward to the next outing.

Nearing the halfway point, I'm delighted to see the best golfer and also the most handsome one both very close to the top of the league. I'm hoping beyond hope that I can turn in a few more scores over the next few outings to lock in a place and take a run at the jug again after a year off! Really enjoying this year's society courses and craic have to say. And even though my golf is not amazing, I seem to be doing enough to return some consistent points.

See yous all in… [check notes]… the best course in the country next!
