That sounds like "We can have a discussion/conversation about immigration but"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 255 ✭✭Resplendent Moose

That's because it is. "But without the racism" is the part you've left out. Your post on the other hand sounds like you want racist terms like "animals" to continue being used. I'm not how you can get past that, if so.

And that in itself is a myth saying employers can't recruit from abroad because of housing. Recruit for what jobs? When there is a lot of young people who can't get a job including minimum wage job s. We imported a lot of non EU to work in Supervalu or the likes while local kids can't get a job now. People finishing college sending hundreds of cvs out to get a job. I am curious what are these skills that cannot be found in Ireland? What IT... Oh ooppsie there has been lots of layoffs in that area. What kind of skills do we need to import from Congo or India that us with higher education as a country can't supply?

"So, it just so happens that the first person I've heard of killed by security guards for 'alleged shoplifting' is a black man." - Ruth Coppinger

What a mouthful of excrement Ruth Coppinger managed to fit into a single sentence. There was plenty more besides.

Why do you keep making assumptions about people? Is it you goal to be a WUM, get people banned or just have the thread closed?

Unfortunately to a full and frank discussion on immigration it will need to include everyone in it whether you like it or not. For me the margins of the left and the right are as bad as each other as we have seen with the behavior of public representatives like Coppinger and Murphy looking to spread hate as much as those on the right.

It's impossible to discuss immigration on this site. Any sensible post there's a pile on of people pretending to be ignorant of basic facts tying people up in knots page after page.

On another thread people are asking for evidence of a link between immigration from certain countries and crime in Ireland. People are pointing out the stats aren't collected in Ireland but every other country that collects the stats shows a link. Response? So you've no evidence then

It's a bit like saying why should I stop smoking? All those studies linking smoking & cancer weren't carried out on cohorts that included me so can't be applied to my situation

This tells you everything you need to know. Denmark government statistics.

And yet government allow them to claim social welfare. The issue is with the lax rules we have.

Interesting to see how often the poor downtrodden Palestinians show up in those stats. Great advertisment for their campaign for statehood.

Came across this on twitter. Have seen this myself with my nephew getting turned down On an affordable housing scheme and about half the residents in that new development are predominantly Indians.

What they say is partly true but it is very much from the point of view of their own interests. The employer may want, for example, to bring someone over from India to work in Dublin. But rents and prices are sky high here. The worker can go to some other country. Maybe make slightly less in salary but have a better quality of life and save more because they are paying less in accommodation and other prices. The employer then complains to the press that we haven't been building enough houses.

But if Ireland started producing more housing, more workers could be brought in and thus rents and prices driven up again. This is great for the employer but not for the local person trying to buy or rent as things never get solved.

Therefore a limit on migration based population growth needs to be put in place. Immigration needs to be focused on the needs of the country, not merely employers (though their views need to be heard and taken into account).

I agree with your main point. We do have these skills in Ireland, but we pander to employers who would rather recruit from the entire World with little or no restriction. This is not the normal way things are done internationally.

We the Irish people are at the expense of foreign people coming into the country now i.e. the example above.Second class citizens now we are with more to look forward too. This Government has sold us out to the highest bidder and people are rightly getting pissed off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,595 ✭✭✭Floppybits

Its not the fact that the skills aren't here they are, the problem is cost. Why hire an Irish person when you could hire 2 or 3 from other countries for the cost of an irish employee

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 132 ✭✭dp22250

When employers are given money to hire foreign staff and it’s all known what goes on behind closed doors to make sure they outsource to non Irish.

They are not Danish Government Statistics .

That is a graph made up by a Danish statistician who is known for right wing bias and his interest in eugenics .

You know if you manipulate statistics you can make up graphs like the one above .

Do you know enough about those statistics to argue the point or is this copied and pasted from elsewhere ?

It should be pointed out to them that we used to collect the stats and that was "racist" so we stopped collecting the stats.

At the time when there wasn't as many African men in Ireland, and back then they were 10 x times more likely to be accused of rape based on their proportion of population at the time.

    More of it !

The more accurate statement might read 1in 4 .

Because all the rest are UK nationals , and EU .

But its not dramatic enough .

That's not even remotely true. You can't seriously believe this.

My experience has been the opposite. The Indian hires we had were way more demanding on the wage front then the Irish people. For example Indian girl was promoted in my team, she was susported all along and given opportunities and received 11k as hike in her salary, minutes later she is demanding 22 k hike in her salary, totally out of touch with the market may I add.

My point is Indians are the main employees who want more and demand more in wages than any Irish person on the yearly performance time. Thankfully, we have got rid of couple of them. One went to another employer on less salary because she was told they pay 20% bonus, 🤣 since then I believe she got nada.

What I am saying is they don't seem to be cheaper than irish employees but more demanding, always an angle with them.

Remember the shills only get paid when you react to them.

You can go and have a look and the Government Data sets and just calculate for yourself, it’s very simple

I did a worked example here

It showed that Somalians had x10 the crime rate of Danes, mental

When the UK inevitably becomes majority Muslim, I doubt very much it will be Malaysia 2.0. The number of horrific attacks, prominent Jihadi's and Jihadist groups, rape gangs and parallel societies across England all suggest they are facing a whole different kettle of Islam. Bar a few platitudes in the aftermath of attacks, the moderates have never stood up to the extremists. Are we so naive as to think it will be different in Ireland, just a few nautical miles west??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 208 ✭✭Perfidious Cretin

Look at Lebanon as an example. 70% Christian in the 1940s to around 30% now. With the rate that Islam is growing in Europe and the UK I simply can't understand why people on the left are celebrating it. There's a reason there's no pride parades in Baghdad, Islamabad or Kabul..

Ireland will be Muslim conquered as quick as the uk. Cromwell must be delighted with the modern day plantation.

Oh sigh... what you basing this absolute drivel on ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,158 ✭✭✭Stephen_Maturin

No what’s gas is how incredibly blinkered you are

Literally show you evidence from official Danish government data, reality that you want to ignore because it negates your worldview.
Very immature behaviour that does nothing to advance your cause, just looks foolish honestly.

You didn’t even refute my point or explain why you think I’m wrong - just empty nothings, really convincing to everyone I’m sure!!

There’s no point in discussing anything with such an entrenched ideologue. You believe what you want to believe, evidence and facts don’t come into it.

    "Entrenched idealogue ' ?

    I don't think so .

Take a look in the mirror there , you are talking about yourself ..

I will address this post tomorrow.
