Jesus they’ve done themselves no favours tonight. That’s inexcusable after you’ve just scored

I had forgotten how dislikable that Glasgow crowd is.

    Criminal lapse from O'brien.

far too many unforced errors from Connacht. Two of the softest tries imaginable while a man up.

Balls. All from a dropped kickoff. That's so unfortunate.

Complete air catch from O'Brien however he managed it. Lancaster not amused.

Connacht have improved a bunch but ultimately just a level below at the moment.

Good effort but Glasgow always seem to have a response, like any good side does.

    That’s that unfortunately.

Feel sorry for O’Brien, actually thought he’d been carrying well but that was such a huge error at a critical time.

Some of Glasgow’s strike plays are excellent. Get Nigel Carolan back into Irish rugby.

Injuries have cost Connacht tonight as well. Just had a rake of them. And that was even before losing Jansen during the week.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 9,579 ✭✭✭fitz

Eh, I thought if you had an available uninjured prop you could bring them back on without losing another player??

Glasgow TH going right to his belly there.

What’s the AR looking at there? Their THP is fully down on the engage.

Only needed a very small few things to go another way and Connacht could have won this. Not catching that restart was a disaster. The scrum penalties have been complete guesses.

Injuries and some strange referee decisions has cost Connacht here. They have not been helped by some silly mistakes and while the referee has not helped them, good team overcome that. Take this last scrum, Glasgow 3 over-extended and referee did not see it so did not give it. Next scrum he gives the penalty when he did not see it.

It is what it is, but it doesn't mean it is not frustrating.

Think Connacht have gotten a rough enough ride from the officials tonight. Glasgow have gotten away with a lot that Connacht were pinged for.

That missed opportunity from the Ioane break proving costly. End of the day, Connacht were just far too sloppy at key times, in a game they absolutely could've won.

Kyle Steyn full value for MotM. Two tries and a brilliant effort to get back and tackle Josh Ioane after the break in the first half. He’s one of those players who works hard and does all the basics so well.

No shame tonight for Connacht - Glasgow are a good side with some dangerous backs. The injuries hurt Connacht a lot, but it’s a really young side and lots to be optimistic about.

Referee warning Aki for shouting at a turnover and just letting it go when Glasgow does it…but finish top 4 and you can play at home to try and get those decisions in your favour.

The Oguntibejeu try was such a huge moment. There was still plenty of time in the game there (12 mins or so left), Connacht had an extra man and it was a one score game.

There is no world where he wasn’t part of that ruck and should not have been allowed to lift that ball. It was an enormous decision.

real frustrating lack of replays of key incidents. I give the ref the benefit of the doubt, but it's very annoying

Going back to the Ioane penalty, IIRC the TMO called that it was a penalty for head contact, and also decided it was penalty only.

Afaik it is not within the remit of the TMO to decide on that, only to refer it to the referee?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,459 ✭✭✭FtD v2

I feel like this blew up into something bigger; I’m not saying I think the ref did a terrible job or anything; just think in a couple of the biggest moments he got swayed by the crowd, but that’s part of home advantage I guess.

Glasgow were the better side over the 80 mins; they just seemed to be able to get their scores a little bit easier. Cracking game of rugby even it if was a disappointing result.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,988 ✭✭✭For Petes Sake

Referees should be taking it upon themselves to say ‘I want to have a look for myself’ anyway, imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,188 ✭✭✭Digifriendly

The try was perfectly legitimate. There were no complaints from Connacht players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,812 ✭✭✭StevenToast

The referee was absolutely fine. No issues with him.....as a Connacht man I actually thought he was very fair....

Glasgow were the superior side, more powerful scrum and maul...always looked dangerous in attack....

Overall, a very good season for Connacht...i hope Frawley is ok playing 15 next season...because based on the last few months and especially tonight - Ioane would start 10!

What’s that got to do with anything?

Was that a ruck? Yes, very obviously.

Was he the last man in that ruck? Absolutely, clearly, 100% not.

The law is crystal clear on this - a player is prohibited from handling a ball after the ruck forms.

Sam Talakai is standing in the scrum half’s position at the back of that ruck; he could have picked the ball up, but it should have been a penalty to Connacht when Oguntibejeu picked the ball up.

I still don't think they are actually allowed to make on field decisions though. It was the same with the pick up off the back of the ruck, the TMO decided that one too.
