yep, I honestly don’t see the fascination with Conference League qualification. Drains the team, and its worth bugger all in terms of revenue. I think its 11% of the 3 european trophies value to the winner. Long slogs, Thursday-Sunday matches. Villa have been about the best performing and that was the League. They get around 30% of the UEFA pot if i remember correctly.

As nice as European football would be after where we were for the last 20 odd years we're a few years away from being able to compete on two fronts. I said it this morning but I'll take 14th for the next 2/3 years to establish ourselves and then with a redeveloped Elland Road we can push on from there. I think the fact we had safety wrapped up before the end of the season gives us a head start on transfers but we can worry about that tomorrow. Enjoy the sunshine lads and a summer off before the dread of August! MOT

Yes I agree, also Gnonto, James and Gruev in the tighter games have been a let down because of their wayward passing.

Gnonto could improve his passing with practice. It could turn him into a world class player if he was more accurate. Not entirely giving up on Gnonto yet.

James wastes more than he hits with his passing and crossing. I'd sell him.

One thing for sure is Aaronson is too easily bullied off the ball and that was his biggest criticism 4 years ago. Very little improvement. He lacks that little dink to get away from a player. He never had it.

I am also on the fence with Jayden Bogle. His final ball lets him down regularly.

Look at his heat map for the match yesterday and its easy to see why Farke loves him. The ground he covers is extraordinary. Fluffed his lines on the big chance he had.

Yeah, no denying he covers ground but I think theres an efficiency problem there. If hes covering all that then hes left a gap somewhere else. When he wins the ball i dont see him being able consistently create a quick attack from the turn over to expose the opposition.

Seems physically weak in a few key areas, 1v1 both attack and defence, slow to release the ball in attack, weak efforts when the space opens up on goal.

What he does do really well is wriggle his way out of a press on the touchline. After that I dont know.

    Open to correction as always.

For me Aaronson has done much (much) better this season than I expected from him. There's no way I thought he would play as much as he has. Credit to the lad, he makes the very most of his talent through hard work and great attitude. But (you knew there would be a but!), I still don't think he has enough quality on the ball to improve us as a team. His kicking is very poor, he doesn't protect the ball enough and whilst he is decent at dribbling, I'm never fully convinced that he has it under control. He's definitely in the team for his workrate and effort and in fairness he does win a lot of possession through turnovers, but if we want to push on I think we do need an improvement in his position.

Given the season is over it's time to talk about possible signings and, whilst it would be unlikely that he would be obtainable, Harvey Elliot would be a great signing in that position. He ticks a lot of boxes, hard work, quality on the ball, can dribble, great attitude, seems like a really good character to have in the squad and given the way he was treated by both Villa and Liverpool, would really have something to prove wherever he goes next.

Not sure if it was discussed back in January when the film was first shown in the IFI ( memory fades as you get older and can't be arsed looking back ) 😁 but Paris '75 is on again this Sunday at 1.45.

I went in January, the day before we drew with them who can't be named at home, but since it's 51 years and a day since that travesty I might go again.

Worth a look if you've not seen it.

    I used to be paranoid…………

Going by that list together with the shenanigans with all those Arsenal corners (they got away with murder in the box compared to other teams) can only lead to one conclusion. They wanted Arsenal to win the Prem.

And they wanted Leeds to go down.

Drone footage of the demo work at Elland Road. Will be nice to keep an eye on it.

New kit launched. That white zip-top is stunning.

……………..and Ampadu signs on for 4 more years.

I think this is massive. You'd have to think that with his profile now that there were other clubs sniffing around so you'd imagine he got some reassurances from the hierarchy that the club's ambition matches his own.

    That video is sensational.

I saw it early this morning, but I only just noticed the badge !!!

    Flashbacks to Lee Chapman

You tend to associate certain shirts to certain players

Not been a kit buyer since I was about 14 but I'd definitely pick the away if I was to buy one …if this is right, lines on a shirt always look tacky to me

would have preferred they were vertical like this one

had the Navy away one as well but we always seemed to get hammered in it so I swapped at the CL final.

I'm seeing Matt Kilgallon in that, dark days 😄

I had the No.4 on the navy one but there was no way I was getting Jody Morris on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 830 ✭✭✭Jimmy Two Times

Snap, I've that one too, not got the navy one but have a lighter blue Diadora with the Whyte and Mackay sponsor.

Also have a framed Net Flights.com blue and navy vertical striped jersey from 2009/10 signed by all the squad with the exception of Beckford unfortunately.

I'm in the middle of moving house at the minute so found a load of my old stuff. I found my old soccer gear buried under The stairs (I retired about 15 years ago) and found these also.

Forest away to start. Initial thought is that the run in looks a lot tougher next season.

Midweek fixtures for both H & A matches with Man City and Hull. Not bad for supporters for travelling. You always expect stupid midweek nights to the south coast

Important to get a good start from those 1st 5 games

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,925 ✭✭✭sonofenoch

Those double headers against Arsenal/Scum twice is a bit of pisser with Liverpool 3 from 4 on the 2nd one, tho we faired ok last season in these ….Arsenal aside, can we at least give them a game next time round 🤨

Heard on talksport Fulham have triple blocks against the promoted sides twice, that's the luck of the draw

Our players are being well rested at the WC.

Handy option to sync the fixtures with your calendar here. As far as I know this will automatically update when fixtures change.
