If Barca won’t pay the 30m and he wont move elsewhere i’d have no problem sticking him in the reserves for the year. Is it self defeating considering we’d be paying him a fortune but **** it.

Im not sure money would be the sole motivation. He's in his prime now and he should be thinking of titles and legacy. His next move will likely be his last and it wouldn't suit him to come back here to sulk for the money. Barca are **** him around too; he spent a season proving his worth, why would he accept another loan, when his asking is only 30m and he's agreed a paycut? If he has any pride in himself he'll go to where he's valued and has opportunities to win titles.

That seems to be some insane bad luck that everytime you watched Atalanta they seemed to lose. If I was an Atalanta fan I'd be begging you to stop watching.

Anyway all the below is based on FotMob ratings and stats

Ederson only played 17 mins vs Cagaliri on 27/4/26. 13/12/25 Atalanta beat Cagaliri 2-1 and he got a 7.7 rating.

He played the full 90 in a 1 nil loss to Bologna but was Atalantas best rated player. 7/1/26 Atalanta beat Bologna 2 nil but Ederson only got a 6.5 rating and was subbed off after 77 mins.

Vs Napoli he didnt play in the most recent game but in a 3 1 loss earlier this season he got a respectable 7.1 rating and seemingly it was the defense that let Atalanta down that day.

Vs Juventus this season in a 1 nil loss on 11/4/26 he played 90 mins and was Atalantas second highest rated player. In a 3 nil Coppa Italia win on 5/2/26 he got a 7.3 rating, same as 2 of the other 3 midfielders for Atalanta in the game. And in the game early in the season he didnt play.

Vs Bayern he didnt play in the first leg 6-1 loss. In the second leg 4-1 loss he played 57 mins and got a 6.4 rating. Not great but Bayern were far superior to that whole Atalanta team.

Can't find his stats for games against Liverpool. Overall his Serie A stats for season 25/26 are :

Played 30 games, started 26 of them. 2,235 minutes played, 2 goals & 1 assist for an average rating of 7.14

Coppa Italia stats : 2 games played, started both for a total of 210 minutes played. 0 goals and assists and an average rating of 7.29

Champions League stats : 9 matches played and started all 9 for a total of 724 minutes. 1 goal and 1 assist and an average rating of 7.21

Season 24/25 in Serie A he played 37 games for 2,888 minutes and an average rating of 7.28. CL was 9 games, 739 minutes and a rating of 7.20

Season 23/24 in Serie A he played 36 games, 2,873 minutes for a rating of 7.22. In the Europa League it was 12 matches, 919 minutes and a rating of 7.36.

Seems overall hes a dependable, always available, 7/10 midfielder and you were unlucky to see him in games that he played like Ugarte.

Anka mentioned on TOTD yesterday that he has watched a couple of hours of him so far and has more to watch for form a full opinion, but based on what he has seen he described him as 'Good Fred'.

Fair play lad if you base your views on Fotmob or whatever pop up game ratings you follow. I'll go with what I've seen of him. Hopefully I'll be the one back here this time next year saying I was completely wrong on him and he has been an excellent transfer.

Aparently Spurs want Baleba, makes sense with De Zerbi, could force United's hand….Wouldn't surprise me if he signed right after Ederson

they are also after getting senesi. do we ever exploit the free transfer market? eriksen and a few past their best strikers in the last 10 years is all i can think of.

for me senesi makes sense on a free given the 3 injury concerns (maguire has missed an average of 17 games per season in the last 3). the other 2 are kids.

I'm not basing my opinion off Fotmob ratings, like I said previously I've a friend who's opinion I'd trust above most others, who has seen Ederson in the flesh more times than most of us have seen him on tv, as well as being a regular Serie A watcher and he thinks we are getting a great deal. I was using the Fotmob data to counter your opinion of him being an Ugarte clone. I'll hold my hands up and say I've seen very little of him outside of the EL final vs Leverkusen, which by the way he was class in. I know you aren't going to change your opinion, same way I won't change mine. I was just giving the rest of the posters some additional info is all.

I know Yoro's only 20 but next season will be his 3rd at the club. He has quite a bit of PL experience now, I really want to see him improve to the point where he starts to nail down his starting place during next season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,697 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

I'm ok with the CB options to be honest, even if Martinez has injury concerns and De Light is missing for a while, because I'd like to see both Yoro and Heaven become regulars next season. I think they have the potential, they are the future so lets get them playing and developing.

Do we buy another senior CB, Maguire and Martinez stay fit and stay the regular partnership, and we end up with the two young lads scratching on the bench all year?

In general it should be one of them alongside Maguire or Martinez, I don't see the need to spend money on getting another CB there, unless its a Johnny Evans style cheap backup option.

I think he had that "2nd season syndrome" a lot of young players get.

we need feed him 50 eggs and 10 steaks a day and have him lifting weights all day and night, we must turn him into a muscle machine….

I wouldn't mind having Rashford back. Those who give credence to social media posts are as bad as those posting them. Just couldn't give a sh*t to be honest.

He did great under Carrick before until the Ronaldo signing. Think he would do great in this team and would add to squad depth without having to fork out a big fee.

Just a bit of reintegration and positive spin and fans would very quickly come onboard. We all know that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 687 ✭✭✭kyleman

Hopefully he will improve again this season but I think we are a few years away from his best football yet.
He is only 20 and If we have patience with him and Heaven we have 2 great talents as part of the squad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,528 ✭✭✭NITRO95

Online fans might welcome him back but he lost the OT crowd even before he left and all his snarky posts since won't be forgotten quickly. I'd be very surprised if he got welcomed back at OT

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,697 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

The very second he doesn't track back or does his little walking around schtick in a match, then the crowd will be on his back and that situation immediately gets toxic again. The first time he posts on social media it gets toxic again. Score a goal and make some silly "told you so" gesture, it gets toxic again.

The whole act of him being there would be a media circus to begin with, and the circus only gets worse unless he is perfectly perfect in every way.

When you get out of a circus the best advice is to stay the **** out of the circus. We have just appointed a manager largely because he has brought a low drama environment, it would be an insane decision to bring a circus back into the club again.

    Agree with all of this.

But also, your apparent hatred of Circuses "the best advice is to stay the **** out of the circus." is amusing.

Storms out of the room when The Greatest Showman comes on
Turns off the TV when Dumbo comes on
Incredulous with the life decisions of Nelly the Elephant

Rashford, Sancho and Onana shouldn't be allowed in Old Trafford or Carrington ever again.

Thankfully Sancho will be released soon. Interested to see what happens next with him. Might fall into irrelevance like Dele Alli

He's another Martial. Earned a kings ransom with us, utterly failed as a professional (other than the aforementioned kings ransom) and he will fade into obscurity and end up playing in Greece or Turkey.

He played more games in the PL this in this season tbf so it wasn't too bad. I think he has great attributes, I just want to see him kick on now and put the talk of missing out on Senesi to bed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,831 ✭✭✭kowloonkev

Maybe he has done some stupid things, but I don't think it's all of his own making. I think he was fighting against the bad culture at the club for a long time but eventually got sick of it - mainly because as the most important player for a period he ended up getting the most stick. I think he lost belief that the club knew what it was doing. I think the way he fought against the government also didn't help him with the media in the end.

Has he ever caused any problems in other teams? I think some folks comparing him to Sancho is way OTT.

Yeah it'd probably be better for all involved if he does find a new permanent club, but I wouldn't be horrified by any stretch if he came back in, especially if he admitted his own wrongs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,781 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

It's not the appearances it's the performances, I've seen it mentioned numerous times over the years, something to do with the expectation to improve puts pressure on them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,837 ✭✭✭scottser

Totally agree - you won't get all that toothpaste back in the tube.

I said above that Barca are screwing him around by pushing for another loan. He shouldn't have to prove himself to anyone and there will be plenty of opportunities somewhere like Germany or Italy where he could smash in 25 goals a season for the next few years. He's already a multimillionaire, let him take a paycut and go and win some titles for himself in his last few years as a player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 211 ✭✭Anything4883

Should have definitely had a look at Sensini on a free ? Martinez and DeLigt are just too injury prone. Maguire; another year older and slower. With more games next year- A premier league proven player- That was an obvious signing to explore i would have thought.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,697 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

The bad culture in the playing squad came from players like him, but I doubt he would ever acknowledge that.

It doesn't matter anyway, whether it was his fault or not, whats done is done and Rashford needs to be done at United.

Has he caused problems elsewhere? Maybe not, but I know that the two clubs he was on loan at didn't want to keep him permanently. Is that just because of the wages? Maybe, but then what does it say that he can't agree a fair and reasonable wage with any of these clubs? That neither of them made him first choice and neither of them want to push the boat out to keep him? (Im assuming Barca aren't keeping him)

It may be his god given right to pick up his contracted wages for the term of the contract, but playing it that way still says something about where his attitude and priorities are. And if thats the case, then its still the same attitude that caused the trouble in the first place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,098 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Senesi would be a great signing. But chances are he's choosing Spurs because they're guaranteeing him first team football with a decent wage increase. Uniteds pitch might be join us because we need the depth but you could end up as our first choice because of injuries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,697 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

Is Sensini coming to be first choice then? I'd never heard of him not so long ago, is he good enough to compete for titles and CL?

What happens if Martinez and De Ligt do fully return from their injuries, which is very possible? Are they dropped for Sensini? Would we really want to exchange a fit Martinez for Sensini, is that actually an upgrade?

Maguire has been consistent this year and as a backup will have a reduced load, but is he dropped for Sensini? What is Sensini expecting?

And what about Yorro and Heaven? What if they have 4 senior defenders available ahead of them?

I think it is very plausible that we sign Sensini and then don't need him at all. And yes, maybe we get to December and have to play Ugarte at CB. Who knows. But I can totally see why the management might decide to go with what they already have.

Nellie the Elephant packed her trunk and said goodbye to the circus.

    Be more like Nellie.

Back surgery for De Ligt - Id be worried if he will ever be the same player again tbh.

Another bad year for Martinez injury wise and his contract is up in 2027. This is potentially his last season coming.

Senesi as an established Center half on a free - would have been good business. Either Yoro or Heaven still need that bit of experience beside them imo.

I think Utd will be in the market for a central defender so that was an obvious one, for me.
