Dublin felt so hot today. Wow Some heat and glorious sunshine at Merrion Square from 130 for the FTD brothers finish line

Spf and hat all the way no jumper etc. Took a spin on morning DART to Sandymount. The breeze there was well fresh by the sea and then so warm around Dublin 4 and Dublin 2 thereafter. 24⁰ City buzzing.

Back in Meath. Overcast and grey. There is a lively breeze; says it's 20⁰.

No like the thoughts of any delivery from the Atlantic. Hope it's miniscule.

Sunday doesn't look too bad on the forecast, obviously won't be a patch on some of the days during the week but could be quite pleasant for a large part of the country.

Wicklow mountains punching a hole in the clouds here in SW winds, breezy and likely to be quite warm today, grass starting to turn brown, great start to the bank holiday weekend.

The mean min here in Dublin for May 2026 is now not far off that of May 2024! May 2024 was notorious for its mild nights (record breaking so). Didn't have frost here but May 2026 started off with some pretty cold nights. Quite the flip.

The last time the temperature fell below 10C was the 18th May. Our average (1991-2020) May min temp is 6.6C, slightly milder later bearing in mind that May is a warming month.

That was a lovely spell of weather and a break from mostly crap weather that we've had most of this year so far. Hopefully we will get another spell around mid or end of June and hopefully here in the east the next one will be warmer and less of an influence from the cooling by the Irish sea. I would love to see the exact same setup as earlier in the week, play out mid or end of July and see could that 33C finally get smashed somewhere across the south-west of the country. I'm not sure it's possible to beat that temperature in Leinster as the cooling from the Irish sea just shaves off too much.

It really does just seem almost impossible to get a calm day in Dublin in the spring time, it was a lovely ~5 days but even at the height of it here there was still a chilly breeze. Yesterday and today we're back to full on unpleasant wind.

Clearing up after midday now for Sligo. Freezing so far though.

Mizzling and a very cold breeze still here in north Longford. Sky starting to brighten up now somewhat towards the southwest. Hopefully a clearance from the mizzle. The grass is still dry amazingly because of the breeze. Went to work and have been told im not needed today by family members, who have requested I go to cut their grass for the weekend🤨 So me and my 2417 are about to hit the road and do that.

Gorgeous morning here. Cool but not cold, cloudy but with the sun peeking through. Much more comfortable than the intense heat we had.

A summary of the maximum temps for all 25 Irish synoptic stations during the May 2026 warm spell.

18/25 stations broke their May records and 7 stations broke the previous national May record of 28.4C from 1997.

Bray head smouldering this morning (and yesterday). I hope they manage to get it under control. Rain on the way will help.

Grand sunny day in North Ros with temps into the high teens. A decent wind out but it wouldn’t cut you in two! Very useable weather

Great dataset to have. Some of those records were absolutely smashed. Usually when new records are set it's very small margins but many stations broke their May records by 2-3 degrees.

Nice sunny spells here today and quite warm.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Travelling Home for the weekend 🙌 lovely and warm here in Dublin 23c but heading back to 18c , I've really enjoyed this warm spell and it certainly has boosted my serotonin for sure, still along way to go in hospital 4 weeks in today 😀 I hope everyone has enjoyed this exceptional historical warm/hot spell hopefully we have more of that over summer , that in my opinion was a classic heat dome which we don't often get , I'm raging about the thunderstorm over howth the other night I would have seen it if I knew , enjoy your bank holiday weekend guys
