Anyone recognise this drain style? It's in a slate shower tray. Can the grey rubber centre be removed to check for trapped hair without making a bigger problem?

can you get one of those long plastic 'barbed' tools down it to see if there is hair there to be pulled out?

Would you not try a bottle of drain unblocker, leave it overnight and see if that helps?

I regularly do my showers with one every few months when they begin to slow down.

    Plunger will often clear them.

Consider using a drain strainer to stop it clogging.

I have a similar, but not identical, shower drain and the centre can be pulled up. It has a rubber o-ring so can need a good tug.

P.S. there is a dedicated plumbing and heating section.

i'd be wary about being too violent with it. it looks like it'd lock the pod bay doors on you in retaliation.

I also had issues with shower pooling and getting bigger and as having issues bending down and bought this big brute . It did take time to clear it and i like how wide it is sucking and pushing and got it flowing and now kept beside the shower for when needed.

I have that exact same drain. The grey plastic part is meant to be pulled out for cleaning and you should have got a little metal hook tool to do that but you can also pull it out with your fingers if they're small enough.

The part that comes out breaks down into two parts for cleaning, just rejoin them and push down into the drain once you've cleaned it.

If you've never cleaned it out, then it's going to be pretty manky🤢
