I got this email today from Decathlon.

From 23rd May to 6th September, we're making it easier than ever to camp consciously and help end tent waste.

Buy any Decathlon tent this summer, use it for your adventures and simply bring it back to us by 6th September to receive the full value back as a Decathlon gift card or 50% back via bank transfer!

    T&Cs apply.

Do you have a link to the T&Cs in the mail? I don’t see anything about this in their app or website

Decathlon’s ‘No Tent Left Behind’ Pledge

Focused on the tents most commonly abandoned:
As part of the pilot programme, the initiative will apply only to a strictly limited selection of entry-level festival tents that are most commonly abandoned at outdoor events*.

”Purchase any eligible core festival range tent (MH100 2 / 3 man or any Pop-Up tent) online or in-store between May 23rd and September 6th, 2026. Then, head out and enjoy your summer adventures!”

A good initiative in fairness to them

Aldi/Lidl have cheaper just as good tents for half that, and you get to keep it

I think what Decathlon are trying to do is encourage people to bring them back from festivals and get their money back. If they buy them they won’t bother as is evident from the amount of tents left behind, nothing to stop you keeping these ones either

I think this is a great initiative. I'm real 'old school'. I told my kids I'd disown them if they just 'dumped' a tent after attending a festival.

It's a good initiative alright, however the people who leave them behind don't care about spending €100 on a tent and leaving it there, they're not going to go to the effort of bringing it back for the sake of €50.

2 of our group got up early (to get a lift home) left their brand new tent €140, new camping chairs, sleeping bags and double air bed all because it was raining and didn't want to pack it up.

I packed it all up and sold it all on Adverts as a package a week before Electric Picnic the next year.
