I see 2 MY LR RWD inventory stock for 48k, brand new. On the pictures is the standard one. How come these are 3k cheaper? Are these from before the new standard spec was brought in?

I have been pondering about the acceleration boost: Does it affect the throttle mapping? I drove a 3 AWD and a Perf too the other day and I miss the snappier throttle I remember they had. The 3 was always ready to proceed with minimum fuss whereas the Y seems a bit sedate at low pedal inputs.

MY AB gives the Y that little bit it’s lacking!

Why they charge extra for the "boost" is such a sad state of affairs.

It impacts range and is harsher on the motors, so they set it at a standard output and if you want more oomph and want to keep that warranty, you're sure as hell going to pay for it. Better to have the ability for the manufacturer to offer it as a standard enhancement than having to go get it tuned. It was done while my car sat in the garden.

I would never have paid full price. I got mine for €800 from a lad of FB. I'd say €1k is the max I would pay.

The LR cars you see on inventory are the discontinued Standard LR. They weren't available for long to order, I would say not many were ordered. The price was too close to the Premium LR which was much better equipped.

    BMW do same.
    Polestar do same.
    it’s a performance add on.

    Could have been me 😂

I “sold” about 6 of them on the FB Group. Was great while it lasted. Both parties benefited.

Is it too late for these AB sales.?

May have a dual motor later this month.

Yeah I was getting €900 each.
I held onto credits for as long as I could incase I got into another Tesla.

Definitely recommend AB for the AWD after driving it for a few hunreds of km over the weekend. With it the car feels way more responsive at the part "throttle" and have that effortless nature it was missing a bit.

    Getting close.
    The credits expire.
And the credit system has been gone for a while now.

I mentioned it before here, but the AB got me out of being side swiped by some absolute góbshite. She was overtaking me but for some reason didn’t complete the overtake and started to enter my lane. The only way out for me was to hit the pedal and burst through, because braking wouldn’t have prevented a collision. Our mirrors made contact and I thought there was contact either at the kerb or my quarter panel. Thankfully there wasn’t.

I ended up reporting the driver because she ignored me when I tried to have her pull over. She aggressively weaved through traffic and turned off at a roundabout. Garda reckoned she tried to ram me off the road based on the footage.

So yeah, the AB paid for itself very soon after I bought it. 🙂

Have anybody noticed that the autosteer has gotten much better recently (2026.14.6) and I was also able to drive yesterday from Kilcock to Enfield, about 10km on the old N4, with just holding the hands near the steering wheel without actually touching the wheel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,062 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Must try it again later. I dismissed it as a bit of a novelty before 14.6 - the nagging grew tiresome pretty quickly.

I tried it this morning and seems to be improved alright. It nags unless it looks like hands are touching wheel. It’s a bit smoother too.

I noticed some weeks ago that the AS steers much better, and then I read online that it sometimes works now without actually applying any force.

The hands position is crucial for it to work "hands free", i.e. the interior camera has to think you're holding the wheel with your right hand and your eyes have to be on the road. It's very gimmiky but the car did faultless job following the curves of the N4 when I tested it.

Found the internal camera was a bit sketchy if you're wearing sunglasses, maybe that's why I was getting so many nags?

I thought I was imagining it, but from the sounds of things, I'm not alone. I was wondering if they were doing some stealth FSD testing, as it felt like the car was actually driving along now, and not just keeping me in the lane (if that makes sense). I'm on fairly rural roads (with lines) and it was doing great with it. Still loses its mind when the lines all vanish on the last 5km up to my house.

Also got a fright yesterday, obviously very hot and we were parked for an hour with the AC on. I got out and there was a pool of water under the car. Took me a moment to figure out it was most likely condensation. I'd just never seen it before, but then again it's not been that hot since i bought it.

Anything happening if you indicate to change lane while using AS?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 378 ✭✭evftw

I purchased the FSD so yes in my case. You can now rent "FSD" (=Enhanced AS + 'navigate' on AS, or whatever it's called now") for €99 (not 9.99 obviously) a month if you want to test it. It's pretty handy on long motorway drives but otherwise not so useful.

I haven't actually tested recently on properly twisty roads on how the AS copes under those conditions these days. It used to be very blind to any corners until the last minute.

Edit: A keen aviation friend of mine compared the Enhanced AP a couple of months ago to the steer by wire avionics of the Russian IL-96 passenger jet whose smoothness leaves lot to be desired according to him.

Oooh, wait, for some reason I thought you were in Ireland 🙈

What (EU) jurisdiction is FSD for sale and actually operational - still just NLD?

I am waiting patiently for it. The Juniper demo cars at Tesla Dublin all had EAP enabled - sneaky!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 378 ✭✭evftw

No I'm in Ireland, I decided to keep this car forever so bought the addon when it was still possible. NL and LV have it now.

Tried Auto-Steer again this evening - no change, still nagged me to death every 10 seconds or so.

It's virtually useless in its current guise. I'm on 14.6

Are you not holding the wheel? Use AP everyday and rarely get any nags

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 815 ✭✭✭This is it

I was using it today and very little "nagging". Over the course of a 15 minute drive I think it asked me twice to apply pressure, my hands were on my lap under the steering wheel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,573 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

I did a test on the drive home around arm position.

Hands on lap - nags after 20 seconds

Holding my hands in the air like Frankenstein but still 4 inches from the steering wheel - got to 5 mins without a nag. Actually ran out of road and had to knock it off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,930 ✭✭✭eagerv

Yea I tried it also today, vast improvement on pre update, very little nagging if your hands are close or touching wheel.

I have turned it back to standard adaptive cruise though, prefer the car not being in the middle of the lane on wide N roads.

Pity you have to have the car in P to change between auto steer and standard cruise.

Good video here about the 8L battery pack that comes now with the premium LR RWD. Synopsis: It's not too bad actually.
