I don’t think they’ll sign him now - they’ve got Raphinha and now Gordon for that left side and other forward options.

€30m for Rashford isn’t bad, but on his wages - he isn’t worth it. Not happening if they sign AG imo.

Gordon must be doing something right to have Bayern and Barca after him. If Newcastle are looking for an experienced PL forward who's also an England international to replace Gordon there's one going cheap they can buy. They can have Rashford plus cash for Tonali or Hall. Maybe throw Ugarte in to help sweeten the deal.

Newcastle should replace Gordon with Rashford.....

We should go for Enzo, and just aim to get a team of Fernandesesesss

i think carrick will think he can re-integrate him - especially given we are looking at LW to buy this summer.

hopefully the brains trust will tell him no - too much **** has happened. even his post a few days ago.

I think he will end up at Newcastle if Gordon goes to Barca..part of a swap deal with Hall.

Really think we are getting our Pants pulled down again by Atalanta for Ederson. £38 - 40 mill for a very average 27 year old with one year on his contract, they must be having a right laugh at us

Barcelona really are a cnut of a club.

Thats exactly what I thought. I dont think the fans would have it to be honest. I couldn't bear it Carrick thought he could re-integrate him. He has done everything he can to piss everyone off. ( Tongue fimly in cheek here before anyone kicks off….) Sure he might as well bring Greenwood back while he's at it.

If Ederson is not the real No.6 signing this summer…..who do we think the club will sign? Elliot Anderson seems fairly unlikely.

Is Tonali the more realistic Casemiro replacement?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,440 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Im in the minority here but Anderson at 100m is a no brainer red flag pass.

Depends how many midfielders we go for. If its 3 midfielders then Wharton, Tonali, Ederson. Would be picks. Think good rotation with Mainoo.

All 4 could rotate for a solid cm partnership.

I don't think there is a Casemiro replacement. Everyone seems to think there's gonna be a like for like replacement, I dont. I think Carrick played the way he did to best accommodate Casemiro & Mainoo. I think the plan is much more likely to be a pairing of two 8s like Mainoo & Ederson or Mainoo & Tonali. I don't think we will see us sign a traditional number 6, holding midfielder. With the responsibility on those guys to work as a pair and never both get caught beyond the ball. Similar to what we saw with Mount & Mainoo vs Brighton.

Tchouameni and Fernandes would be the two players I would go for. We need a middle of the park player that's strong in the air for PL...not as important for CL. Tchouameni fits the bill perfectly as the Casemiro replacement. Fernandes could also play any of the middle of the park positions or Brunos role.

Ederson is a bit of all but not really good at any of them

You wont like it....Baleba then a younger CM on the cheap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49,513 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

    Ederson, fernandes, baleba

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,383 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Depends how cheap is cheap for Baleba. Wouldn't go over 40m

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,186 ✭✭✭✭Zeek12

True. I'm not sold on Baleba.😄 And definitely not at the prices being quoted for him. He has had a fairly disappointing season indeed.

Fernandes at West Ham looks a better prospect

Ederson, Fernandes and a 3rd cheaper option would be decent CM recruitment imo

    Don't want Baleba though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,781 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

I think it was here I was told this but Fernandes isn't a Casemiro DM type player, we should still go for him anyway.

I'd say Fernandes and a cheap CM. I'd say Baleba's form dipping after last summer will have cooled interest in him. They'll sniff around but I think the club won't push ahead because of the cost.

Hes found form recently and looked good on Sunday, if its cheap enough go for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,769 ✭✭✭kerplun k

highly doubtful, but we should try sell Amad, and try get that lad Toni Fernández from Barca.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,200 ✭✭✭Robson99

Won't be near good enough. Baleba is a much better option than Ederson. Baleba, Fernandes and Ederson as our 4th choice middle of the park player would be decent but not top level

What basis are you saying Baleba is a much better option.

He has been in and out of the Brighton team and been benched for a fella in his forties many times this season.

I would imagine bar a few YouTube videos you have seen very little of Ederson.

Give us a summary of why he is a much better option.

To note that I haven't seen much of Ederson.

Gordon confirmed to Barca must guarantee that Rashford is back to being a problem to solve.

I would be disappointed to see him back in the squad.

I would consider Baleba a much better option despite his poor season this season. It's generally accepted that the poor season was due to us "turning his head" last summer. Now, that in itself is a concern, if he can't focus on the job at hand at Brighton, then can he deal with the pressure of playing with United.

All that said, he's a much better player if he performs to his best imo Despite the poor season, he has been impressive in his appearances lately. He, at 22, has a much higher ceiling than Ederson, we have one very strong season from him in the PL (would be better if it was more) and we also have some comfort in the previous work of Brighton's scouts (United fans always raving about them)... Ederson is nearly 27, and is probably near his peak, he only has 3 international caps and not really tested in a league like the PL.

I would see him as a very similar signing to Fred. I liked Fred, but he really should have been what I hope Ederson is, that being a back up/squad player.

i dont know where he goes now.

villa i'd say was doable for him cos it was a 6 month loan to get of utd.

would he move there permanently, or newcastle? i reckon he see's himself above those clubs.

    bayern, real, psg - no.

atleti or maybe one of the italian clubs i can see. we might even get more than the €30m barce were offering though he would need to take a hit on his wages.

chelsea with alonso is prob a no as well. limited options.

I'd say he's livid alright, just having won La Liga and likely to start for England in the WC with a genuine chance of winning it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,697 ✭✭✭✭bucketybuck

I know he must a legendary agent but I don't think he is in the England squad.

I think the issue will be price. Brighton will drive a hard negotiation to squeeze every penny and then some out of us. I like the look of Fernandes. A bit of an all rounder in midfield. It would be perfect if both were willing to join with Mainoo already here. I think prices could be the issue.
