What offences would you like him arrested for? Neither of the ones you mentioned even exist as offences.

The Gardai can't make up things to arrest people for. Being a cnut isn't illegal.

Is it though? Do they have any kind of even statistically noticeable following in the US. I'd rather not waste time looking into it but I imagine the idea that there is anything more than a handful of loons who have latched on is highly unlikely.

I'd well believe that. She comes across as very sincere and genuine. Terrible that she should have to face such intimidation when she is only doing her job.

It's clear to me that with Enoch out of the limelight, the Burkes are desperate to generate another incident leading to a court case and publicity. Desperately resorting to harrassing public figures as a result. Credit to Hildegardes minders for exercising restraint.

I suspect that now that they have kiboshed their own careers, the Burkes literally have nothing to lose. The kind of individuals that they are peddling to would welcome extremely repugnant behaviours. They are no longer trying to win over decent folk. If they escalated even further, their horrid supporters would be delighted .

The Gardai don't have to make up reasons to arrest someone intimidating a TD. That falls under Offences Against The State 1939 and you might be surprised at how wide-ranging and serious those charges can be, even for a non-violent offence.

7.—(1) Every person who prevents or obstructs, or attempts or is concerned in an attempt to prevent or obstruct, by force of arms or other violent means or by any form of intimidation the carrying on of the government of the State or any branch (whether legislative, judicial, or executive) of the government of the State or the exercise or performance by any member of the legislature, the judiciary, or the executive or by any officer or employee (whether civil (including police) or military) of the State of any of his functions, powers, or duties shall be guilty of felony and shall be liable on conviction thereof to suffer penal servitude for a term not exceeding seven years or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years.

    (2) Every person who aids or abets or conspires with another person to do any thing the doing of which is a felony under the foregoing sub-section of this section or advocates or encourages the doing of any such thing shall be guilty of a misdemeanour and shall be liable on conviction thereof to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years.

The politicians and Gardaí are probably giving the Burkes enough rope to hang themselves and to show everybody what they are really like. The Burkes thrive on victimhood. My only fear is that they are encouraging would-be Burkes to approach public figures in a highly inappropriate manner

Their behaviour is pretty much harassment at this point, surly something can be done about that.

It was telling when even the Westboro Baptist Church said the Burkes were too extreme for their liking.

    Wonder why....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 334 ✭✭goldsparkle

Because there's nothing to talk about. We heard all their crap before time and time and time again. Politicians too. Politicians are not responsible for the ignorance and hate that family has for everyone but themselves nor are they responsible for the mess EB made for himself. The man is unemployable now becaue of how he behaves. That's why he and his family are bullies towards his previous workplace. Bullying for his old job back because noone else will ever employ him.

Maybe they should try giving them the chance to get a word in!

Martina goes for him asking him where he stands on sodomy!

" Definitely not in front" would have been a fabulous response.

The irony is..if he got his old job back or indeed a new job, he'd probably find another 'cause' soon enough to jump on and cause a new drama.

I dont think it was a coincidence the Donegal incident with Naughton was on the same day as the Galway by-election. The Burkes were intent on recording another publicity stunt on their video camera for people who approve of their message. It gives the lie to some peoples inference that the Burke/Naughton incident was merely a constituent wanting to talk to their local TD on the same day as two local elections were being held here. It does show the Burkes knew a Dublin confrontation would not have been as "good" for them as one in Donegal.

What I find incredible is all the supportive comments on their YouTube - is it bots?

It'd be interesting if someone were to ask Martina for her thoughts on Gay Divorce, might make her head spin, as for poor Enoch, perhaps he's found his safe space in prison, secure away from his family, or perhaps he found love in Mountjoy, considering how quickly he always tried to get back in there, either after release or after transfer to Castlerea

As they are unemployable and probably dont want to apply for dole (right now), these publicity stunts are their only means of a hope for financial support from sponspors/donors home and abroad. They have the study grind gig to get by I suppose. But none of them will get credit or a mortgage on part time grinds, probably a lot of it paid in cash I imagine.

Imagine if they were on job seekers. I'd love to see those routine interviews with the dole office. 'Tell me Mr Burke / Ms Burke, how many interviews have you completed since you were in for your last interview?' 'And tell me, why do you think you are not even being considered for an interview?' But then again, I'd say the dole office would leave them alone, and keep paying dole like they do with our our 'ethnic minority' people.

When you see the comments on the likes of social media it is clear as day that the people who support them online have never done any kind of research into Enoch's actions or the history or actions of all the Burke's in the past. If the online comments are genuine that is.

You see people saying things like "the Burke's are a great Irish family". Well this great Irish family absolutely hate most fellow Irish people, do not pay any heed to the laws of Ireland, cost Irish taxpayers a fortune, would try to make a misery of an Irish person's life if they are someone who goes against them and thinks most Irish people are going to hell for a number of reasons.

If some of there supporters are religious, I don't think they even know that the Burke's aren't Catholic.

My son was in college at the same time as some of them, they were always handing out flyers for some sh1te he said. Nobody took them serious at all.

I read somewhere that you can recognise a bot by a name followed by a series of digits. I saw a YouTube post recently where every response met this criteria.

I know a few people in real life that support them because of the anti-trans stance. Convinced that he’s in jail because of that and either ignoring or refusing to believe what happened in between.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,290 ✭✭✭fish fingers

I saw one thread on reddit about him saying hes in jail for his religious beliefs. I wasnt long putting them straight on a few facts. I havent seen anything since then.

I’m not sure on the first part. I think in general the vocal supporters know exactly why he is in prison but it doesn’t help their own prejudices to admit that.

they are eventually going to stick that camera and shout in the wrong face and I’ll be hoping we get to see the footage.
