I've a few friends that say Marathon is great but none have stuck with it. Wary of trying it myself as Destiny just did not click with me and I felt my time with it was wasted.

I absolutely binged on Destiny 1 for about a month at release as the gameplay was just so good… but the formula quickly became very stale with so little content at launch, and mostly just playing for an hour doing small bounty stuff/daily challenges for points. Went back to it a few years later before Destiny 2 came out and played all the additional content which had been released and had a great time with it.

With Destiny 2, pretty much the same thing where I had a great time for about a month and it did feel like it had more content at launch than Destiny 1 had post-launch… but it was really just the exact same. It's something I've never gone back to because even though they release huge expansions for it every year, it just becomes that number thing of playing through it once then playing through it again and again to get weapons/armour with an ever so slightly bigger number attributed to it than the one you have.

They absolutely nailed the core gameplay both times, as it was a joy to actually play, but as ever with these live-service games with their "roadmaps", the majority of people will tap out of the game at some point and by that stage even with new content, it's so hard to get back into the rhythm of things and you've probably moved on to many different games by that point that they just don't bother.

It's incredibly impressive how Bungie have supported the games with all the content. Destiny 1 launched in 2013, so to get here 13 years later with only two main game releases is wild. But yeah I'd also hope they maybe pull back on the live service model and maybe just focus on a more complete "full game at release maybe with a DLC or two down the line".

Sadly huge layoffs are inevitable as it seems they're still deciding what to do and so would be a long way off from entering full production on whatever's next.

Today started just like a normal day, and now I just learned that this exists: purposely build and expensive hardware cheating devices that plug into PCI or NVME slots and do DMA to access game memory and enable autoaim or whatnot. And that Riot Games has been able to brick them with the latest update of their anticheat.

    Hey all,

Quick update on tradegame.ie, we've had a great start since launch with people signing up and adding games, but the more gamers that join, the better the matching gets for everyone.

If you've got PS5, PS4, Xbox, or Switch discs sitting on the shelf, give it a go. List what you have, what you want, and the site matches you with other gamers in Ireland for disc swaps. You can send trade offers (even 2-for-1), chat with traders, and there's a map showing gamers in your area.

No money involved, no fees, no ads. Just pure game trading.

Would love to keep growing the community so if you know anyone who'd be into it, share it around. And any feedback is welcome. What's missing, what's annoying, what would make you use it more?

    Cheers

you can build the trade offer and add on the message that you are willing to put cash on top or vice-versa, after the trade is accepted you can both exchange messages and negotiate

Thanks for that. Will have a proper look tomorrow and might give it ago if anything catches my eye. Good idea though.

We almost got a new game from the creator of Radiant Silvergun and other Treasure classics, but alas, it wasn't to be.

    America is so messed.

I can't image how infuriating it is to read that statement that makes it sound like getting absolute shafted is going to be better for them.

Funny enough Lex, who first made the story public, is Irish, so no surprise he called it out.

A number of upcoming games, including some unannounced games, have been rated in South Korea.

No doubt somebody will be thrilled with the fourth game on the list.

Fortnite Endgame... deceiving name, doubt its the end of it! They're also giving GotG another release? Or was never released in SK. Also didn't expect a Lego version of Cities Skylines, which I'm presuming it is.

007 First Light getting some cracking reviews.

Currently sitting on 88 on Metacritic with 90 average/100% recommendation on OpenCritic.

Getting spoiled this in the last week with Lego Batman and now this.

Guardians of the Galaxy - it's cut off in the screenshot, but it's a Switch 2 release. Assume it's the same game from 2021.

Ah, fair. Slight hope they had made a better one.

It's already confirmed for August and Namco are acting like they have a really special game on their hands so it's not new. It the release gets moved forward I'd be more excited.

So I take it that it is a day one preorder for you?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 55,155 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

I'll wait for reviews but I don't see how they are going to mess it up. And preordering digital games is nonsense. If it reviews well I'll be buying it day 1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,597 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Tell the truth. You've pre ordered the preorder just incase.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 55,155 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

I'd pre order if there was a risk steam would run out of 1s and 0s.

I also learned my lesson with Ace Combat 7 which had a midnight release date so I stayed up and it turned out to be midnight PST so was 7am...

Delighted for IO, there was a while there where it was touch and go whether they'd survive the break up with square enix.

An Irish guy is playing Bond in this game - Patrick Gibson. I think the game will do really well, it's Bond+Uncharted on all platforms.

Semi tempted by Bond, but barring a surprise critical drubbing for this week’s other big release, there’s a big ol’ Mina the Hollower sized shadow being cast over it at the moment.

He was excellent as young Dexter in the Dexter prequel season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,595 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

Plus last weeks games, Forza Horizon 6 for people who didn't buy the Premium Edition, and Lego Batman.

Should hopefully get my Kickstarter key for Mina the Hollower later in the week, I ended up choosing a Switch 2 key.

Seems to be a big game every month the last while. Hard to keep up! And that's not factoring in indie darlings.
