Wow, yeah, if Nebel was open to it, that'd be a big get. Our likely involvement in the next Euros as hosts is a nice incentive to point towards too.

I don't know man. I don't really have a vested interest to be honest. I find it more amusing than anything. The players could sue Southampton, Hull could sue because they think they should go straight up instead of playing Middlesbourgh. Oxford might sue because Southampton spied on them and they got relegated. Southampton fans could sue the club because they've paid for transport/ hotels etc. Maybe this incident needs it's own thread. Whatever happens I can see a Netflix documentary coming down the line and I'll enjoy the laughs from it.

"If things don’t work out with the DFB at some point, then I’ll have to think about it, because Ireland is also in my heart."

He's still only 23 though and the next Euros he'll only be 25. I can't see some point being before his mid 20s.

HH will surely have spoken with him already and should get back onto him again this summer to get any potential switch done before qualifying begins. Though if Vale applied for a switch as soon as he got his passport he was waiting a year for his switch to be confirmed so he might get everything sorted by the time the Euros rolls around.

Dawson Devoy won't be joining up with the Ireland squad until after the Shams and Bohs match so will miss the Qatar game.

Said earlier that Molumby was likely kept around for that reason as he's not travelling to Canada with the team. No word on whether Adam Brennan and Ed McGinty will be available for Canada.

I'd assume Rovers won't release their first choice keeper to warm the bench for Ireland but surely Bradley has no issue with Brennan going since he was so vocal about Victor Ozhianvuna being called up for Grenada.

John Egan will be playing PL football again next season as Hull win the playoff final. Some season for Hull who 12 months ago survived relegation on the final day of the season on goal difference and this season were only allowed sign players on loan or free agents.

    Squad update:

Injuries have ruled out Middlesbrough duo Alan Browne & Alex Gilbert, while Southampton pair Finn Azaz & Ryan Manning have also been forced to withdraw. Strasbourg defender Andrew Omobamidele will also miss the window through injury

To manage the squad across the two fixtures in Dublin & Montreal, several players have been added to the group with specific availability:

Qatar only: Defender Dara O’Shea & midfielder Jack Moylan return to the squad for the home fixture only. Caoimhín Kelleher will also be available for the Qatar match only

Canada only: Charlton Athletic midfielder Conor Coventry & Bohemians’ Dawson Devoy will link up with the squad later this week specifically for the trip to Canada

Both Fixtures: Hibernian midfielder Jamie McGrath and St. Mirren’s Killian Phillips have been called up for the duration of the international window

Hibernian striker Owen Elding will also remain with the squad for training purposes throughout the window. Elding will integrate with the senior environment while the final stages of his citizenship process is completed

Bit odd all these lads now suddenly getting injured after their seasons had finished up. Gilbert must have picked up a knock on the team bus home from Wembley after not playing a single minute of football in a month but still being fit to be on the bench 4 times since. I call bullsh!t.

A lot of players carry injuries throughout the season. Good time to rest.

    Theyre not cancelling their hollybops.

The selection of Harvey Vale over Jamie McGrath for Prague has not aged well given our elimination on penalties, his lack of any significant contribution in that game and now his withdrawal from these three games.

Vale did volunteer for a pen alright though (was on Second Captains recently talking about it), I think he was put down as 6th. Had McGrath been there he'd likely have been in the same spot.

McGrath would have been 4th unless we were absolutely stupid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,527 ✭✭✭NITRO95

You have absolutely no idea whether McGrath would have taken a penalty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,381 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Amazing how you have such insight with such a variety of players as required. Quite a scoop for Jamie to personally tell you this!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

McGrath has probably got the best record of any Irish player taking penalties. Would have been foolish to not have him taking a penalty as one of the first 5 if called up in March.

I presume people arguing aren’t aware hes a reliable penalty taker

Lucky we didn't qualify for the world cup with all these sudden injuries eh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Whatever about Gilbert there's no reason for Azaz, Browne, or Manning to be called up. You don't get many proper friendlies to test new/squad players in anymore.

Didn't see an email but are there loyalty points for attending game tomorrow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,526 ✭✭✭Guffy

Can some explain to me like I'm a five year old how the recording of these points work.

Are they just linked to my season ticket or do I have to set up a separate account where I can view how many I have?

Do I get points if I can't attend a game but transfer to someone to use the ticket?

Anybody know the story with how long they leave gates open for games ? I could be very late for tonight’s game.

Bit strange for the FAI to organise friendlies the week of the champions league final. What if a lot of our squad was involved?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,130 ✭✭✭adaminho

And if we were in the World cup people would complain that we didn't have enough build up or training before it started.

We barely have any players playing in PL never mind playing in CL. We were safe enough.

Then we'd be off to Mexico in a couple of weeks.

    Good questions, I've no idea

Nice evening and all as it is, motivation to go to this is low. Feel sorry for the players tbh having to fulfill these fixtures. And presumably will not know a single opposition player this evening. It should count for 10 loyalty points if that's possible...!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Says Ireland was the reason for him leaving Everton to prolong his career. It's gonna be interesting to see where he goes this summer.

Was also asked about the games against Israel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,815 ✭✭✭tigger123

I think it's unfair for the media to continue to ask the players about the match against Israel. It's putting them in the firing line for decisions other people are making.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,533 ✭✭✭Dogsdodogsstuff

If you are going and have more then one ticket, can you just scan them all ?

I’m late to this story but what genius within the F.A.I decided it would be a good idea to play Israel.

From a pure footballing perspective it’s not like they are a strong side who would really test the ability of an experimental Irish side. You could choose 10+ decent teams within Europe that are available as not going to WC.

From a moral or political standpoint,it’s a terrible thing to be accommodating such a reprehensible regime.

Rant over!……would be interested in others thoughts on this choice of opposition.
