Good to know, thanks. It wouldn't be unusual for them to update the app today, ahead of the launch of the Air tomorrow.

I searched for Google Health in the play store. There was an option to update there. It wasn't showing in my list of app updates though.

was hoping this would integrate in my fitness pal.. but it’s not available, unless they update their app to include it

Any other way people know that it may work with MFP?

    cheers

Pulled trigger on this last night, delivery not until 15-16 June….hopefully that may be amended! Be interesting to hear of people's experiences of it when they receive it.

I do recall Xiaomi released a similar product like this over 10 years ago! The Mi Band 1S if I recall, which is a bit interesting, it was clearly ahead of its time as I don't think they mad a second iteration.

Might pull the trigger on this, the credit deal sweetens it and will just get replacement bands on Ali once they start to appear.

    Mine just arrived :-)

The Mi Band is on it's 10th iteration now. They're fantastic devices if you have android and so so on IOS. The 1S was decent, i'd get 3 weeks battery out of it but it wasn't a patch on the 3 months of the 1 but then again that was really just a step counter.

The last Mi band I had was the 9 and battery life would be about 3 weeks. Great devices.

Oh they are great devices, what I meant was that the 1S was similar in the sense that it was a display-less pebble in a strap and only offered core functions, but obviously you'd imagine the tech in it is likely archaic compared to this strap by nwo.

No, but he did verify my name before handing over. I had something delivered recently from Google and they wont just leave it outside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,363 ✭✭✭Barr

Woohoo …..just got mine as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,923 ✭✭✭savemejebus

I get that, though in fairness I do believe it was only display less because of tech limitations for their price point (sub €20). The next iteration had a display and so on adding sensors etc and better screens now the trend is reversing and 'no-screen' bands are becoming fashionable. Like when they raced to make mobile phones tiny only for that to reverse into the giant mini tablets we have now.

I’m surprised that google are giving out the credit before delivery – you would think this would leave them open to some taking advantage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

so.. to answer my own question, it’s seems the Fitbit App that MFP does integrate with is changing to the Google Health App

So it seems a MFP will work with this

Does your phone need to be constantly connected to the device for it to get all the info or can you connect up and sync whenever your phone/data/Bluetooth is on?

I knock my phone off at night, would it still sync the next morning?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,363 ✭✭✭Barr

It syncs with your phone later - Im mainly going to use it for sleep tracking and its supposed to work without the phone

I'd imagine they'd just revoke it if you cancelled the order, Google aren't that dumb.

Is Amazon UK still offering a free band?

All I can see is100e price match and a single band, if so then Google store is much better due to the credit.

It looks like Amazon are either having difficulty getting the bands, or theres a quality control issue with them… Theres talk of allot of orders being delayed across Europe…

Mine arrived yesterday & so far I'm very impressed. I've got a bunch of data coming in from scales and blood pressure monitor. Coach helped me create a plan for for exercise and took into account an injury and some other perameters…

I ordered one a few days ago and just got the dispatch email. Had to go with the red one or else wait weeks for delivery. Anyone else tempted to hold off on using the credit until Black Friday? It say's it's valid for 12 months so wondering if there might be a discount to be got then. It would mean having only a red strap until then for me though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,363 ✭✭✭Barr

My credit doesn't expire till the 22/05/2027 so I'm in no rush. There is bound to be third partys selling straps within weeks on the likes of Amazon etc

concerned now that mine is still saying 10/11 June when it appears was quite an early order timestamped 9am on 12 May. Wonder was it just the wrong side of first batch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 214 ✭✭ACAandCTA

Thanks for this, it was a separate offer to click into. I went ahead and ordered from Amazon.

They will actually deliver the fitbit air by Thurs 28th, the additional band will follow as a separate dispatch when available, so a much quicker delivery time than the mid June from Google.

Also a reminder to people, you might be able to claim a contribution back from your health insurance provider (old link, but still applies https://www.irishlife.ie/blog/guide-to-buying-wearables/)

I ordered on the 10/05 and arrived yesterday - this was the second round of them . Wonder is it the colour maybe delaying it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,363 ✭✭✭Barr

Just a reminder the offer is only running till the 31/05 for anyone on the fence

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,144 ✭✭✭chases0102

Yeah I think it's the obsidian that most buy, and they're longer than others. Hopefully they can speed up deliveries, good first vibes from everyone. Looking forward to seeing what the 3 month Gemini Coach can do, and whether it is worth holding on to…(another subscribtion!)

This could be useful for those looking for Pixel buds and use up credit . These will work out very cheap - 35% - €45 credit

all the actual early reviews are out now since launch, consensus seems to be its solid alternative to whoop or Apple Watch for health tracking. Some heart rate wobbles in some of reviews but all in all as good as anything else wrist based pretty much.
