Unfortunate that you can't condemn terrorist organisations.

    Take her handy mate.

Not being rude mate, but please see my reply to Strazdas, that's my opinion of the matter and how I hope it's resolved.

    Thanks

Do you actually believe what you are saying? RTÉ as the "political wing" of Hamas? Do you really believe that if Hamas just disappeared tomorrow the Zionists would just give up on their expansionism?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 112 ✭✭Benihunter

    Perfect, thank you.

As far as I'm aware Hamas is an islamic terrorist organisation set up to resist Israeli occupation of Palestine.

I read their 1988 charter about 10 or so years ago and it made for grim reading. I won't quote it because it's been too long but I'd recommend it as a read for anyone trying further their knowledge of Hamas.

Ps, seperately, I should note as a courtesy, this will be my last message today.

Genuinely, all the best everyone, we may not always agree, but I enjoy respectful dialogue.

But you are being rude. You are asking people who are against the warcrimes and genocide of civilians that we see happening every day on the news etc, to condemn a terrorist group - you are linking both things as though they are in any way related. You did the same shtick with RTE / Eurovision commentary - a Hamas mouthpiece, are you for real? It makes no logical sense.

Being opposed to mass warcrimes against civilians doesn't mean you support f*ckin terrorists or support Islamic groups who also commit warcrimes against civilians, or have to "condemn them". It's a bizarre way to try to paint things. You are trying to link a a most basic humanitarian view of this conflict to extremism/terrorism, to delegitimize it. But don't worry we are all well used to seeing these head the ball posts here.

Was it your inability to answer or refusal to answer my 3 word question? I answered yours. Bad faith posting isn't a virtue. It shows a lack of character.

    Q. What caused Hamas?

    (5th attempt)

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Im Against the free for all open borders. I never said I was against all Immigration. Apologies if that wasn't clear.

If Palestine cannot afford its own citizens some basic human rights then im not going to advocate for them to have their human rights respected. You may not like that, thats fine. Thats life.

HAMAS exists because there isn't a "peaceful society".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭Paddy_Mag

That doesn't give them the right to do some of the things they have done though surely?

There seems to be a fair amount of Islamophobia around too.

The last flotilla was really successful. It highlighted Israeli thuggery and brutality. Everywhere I read that people were saying that if the Israelis would do that to Europeans, Australians and others what are they doing to the Palestinians detained in their prisons. That is great to read because it keeps it all relevant and in the news. But best of all was Ben Gvir;s video. It was brilliant and generated great outrage all around the world. One of the best own goals ever.

The IDF clearly stated in 2025 that Hamas were defeated. Then they implemented their starvation tactics.

Israel uses Hamas as the boogeyman. Anyone in Gaza with a pulse and is able to crawl/walk is Hamas. 12 year old boys are Hamas. 80 year old women are Hamas.

No-one supports terrorists, least of all those actively carrying out terrorism - the IDF and Settlers.

Your principle is absolutely correct but the situation is way more complex than just "get rid of Hamas" - that is not what Israel wants. Complete eradication of Palestinians is what they want - they've even admitted it. Multiple times.

Oh my, is this about a flotilla? Well they knew fairly well what's gonna come, it did come, and now they crying over it? And making a news. Job well done, achieved nothing. Reality.

Hit the switch to keep the lights on.

Islamophobia as i've often said here. That's all it is.

RTE at this point might as well be the political wing of Hamas because they have a perverse obsession with vilifying Israel.

I really don't think that's fair. RTÉ have reported fairly and impartially in my opinion. They have called on Israeli spokespeople to explain what is going on in Gaza and allowed them airtime to discuss events. That the Israelis came on air and simply spouted the Hasbara and "Hamas" was telling. But by way of balance, they have interviewed other Israelis who have given their opinions - all have been negative and critical.

But here's the thing, how do you think a news outlet can report on what Israel has done without that language being strong?

"IDF confirmed that 65 Gazans were killed today by a combination of Merkava Battle tanks, and 2000lb bombs and a squad of snipers. 4 of the dead were confirmed Hamas terrorists.

It is believed by some that the IDF really are quite naughty."

    ICC Arrest Warrant incoming….

I wonder if alleged war criminal #1 (at large) will condemn Ben-Gvir again?

    Haaretz headline:
Far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called for Israel to expand its occupation in Lebanon as far as the Zahrani River – roughly four times beyond the IDF's latest reported advances.

He also urged Netanyahu to resume full-scale war in Lebanon without waiting for Trump's approval. "We need to cut off the electricity in Lebanon, occupy the Zahrani and return to a fierce war," Ben-Gvir said.

These papal disputes with President Trump could end very badly for Christians if a new Bored of Peace was established to give the Jewish faith joint ownership of the Vatican!

    The Genocide continues:

    Haaretz strapline (free by email)

Aid organizations operating in Gaza are warning of a deteriorating humanitarian situation amid stalled implementation of the cease-fire agreement that formally took effect last October.

The groups report a renewed rise in malnutrition among children, deaths linked to delays in medical evacuations, collapsing sewage infrastructure, growing pest infestations and severe shortages of medical equipment.

Because the cease-fire plan for Gaza has not progressed to its second phase, almost no reconstruction work has been carried out, and roughly 1.4 million Gazans are still considered displaced, with approximately 800,000 of them still living in tents.

Twice now Paddy you’ve refused to answer my questions.

Care to directly answer them or do you just want to “virtue signal from your ivory tower” on behalf of Danish women?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,809 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

Any other country doing this and they would have been stopped long ago. But Israel is allowed to starve children because of their special status and stopping their crimes is anti-semitic. Malnutrition impacts children for their entire lives. Only muslims though.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,579 ✭✭✭Miniegg

I'm fine with you believing whatever you like. But that isn't what you are doing is it? You are trying to descredit and undermine anybody that has what the most basic level of pity or mercy for the few million men, women and children coralled behind massive fences, being butchered and starved by an infinitely more powerful neighbor, who has no problem attacking our countries good name either I might add.

That is far from a neutral position to take as much as you like to play the moderate. The only common thread between your takes on FAI jobs, Danish women and virtue signalling sneers is that you don't like Palestinians, anyone saying they shouldn't be butchered, or that Israel should face repurcussions for what they are doing.

I don't understand why you wouldn't be concerned something like this is being allowed to happen given our history and the fact you have kids of your own, and I definitely don't understand you sneering those who do. But as you said that's life, some people think the way you do, and that's the way it is.

    Oh there's that too.

Some people don't mind an auld slaughter, so long as it's a certain type of people that are being slaughtered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,579 ✭✭✭Miniegg

Half the people posting in this thread in a nutshell.

They know they haven't a leg to stand on with that psycho stuff, the only way they can defend it is to paint people who challenge their sh*te as [insert terror supporter/ jihadi supporter/ antisemetic/ virtue signaller/ leftist] as necessary.

There were always that type of nasty people around, just sad that now they are open and proud of it.

And by supporting the breakdown of international law, all they are doing is selling Irelands security and future down the river (hint, we will be eaten alive in a world where might is right).

Bad stuff happens every day all around the world. For me, I focus on my own little part of the world, my family, my circle of friends.

I dont pick one cause which i have no control over to support over another outside of that. I campaigned for marriage equality as I saw the anguish my brother went through for simply socialising as a gay man, i convinced a good few people in my extended family and friends to vote in favour. I also campaigned for abortion because I want my kids to have control of their own lives in the future. I dont ever want them to suffer the same fate that the Indian (?) Woman called Savita did.

My parents are hugely religious practicing catholics but they, in their 70s, voted in favour on both. At the start they were very undecided. Likewise numerous aunts and uncles.

My POV in the Ireland v Israel thread is based mainly off the reality that I dont believe a boycott of two football games will do anything so long as everyone else in the football world just carries on. If anything is to change in the middle east, it will take a lot more then the FAI committing financial suicide to make a difference. Ive friends who work in the football industry in this country who fear for their futures if the FAI do boycott the games and the potential consequences thereafter.

Kosovo wont rock the boat as they owe their independence to the UN/USA and Austria are hugely pro-israel

People may not agree, but I think its easy for some to demand a boycott while they continue to buy and use products which are sourced in part or full from Israel. They want the FAI to make that stand, when it doesn't impact on them while the people calling for a boycott continue to enjoy the nicer/convenient things in life while they, by default, are funding Israel.

Its been levelled at me that by going to the game i condone genocide. Yet the same people who make that claim will continue to use goods or services which sees some of their money filtered back to the Israel state.

If they/you want a boycott, Then go all in on it. There is a reason why the OTB probably wont become law in this country and thats because of the American MNC in this country have massive set ups in Israel. The jobs linked into this are probably in the tens of thousands. The money the irish State takes in is enormous. And the Americans wont like it. Who are Israels biggest political ally?
