The fact people are saying Shaw is great because he finished a season with the least amount of games played by us is mad.

Shoulda been out the door ages ago.

Massive wages with no reliability as a starter in the amount years at utd.

I do think he shouldn’t be here 11 years later. That’s on the club and not him.

I don’t think anyone here turns down playing for their country at a major tournament, if offered the opportunity. It’s been a series of unfortunate events for Shaw, I don’t hold any grudges against him personally.

For a second I thought you meant the 2036/37 season :) We can dream :)

I think Bruno has also grown into a great captain and matured into a leader and team builder, beyond the ability to lead through his quality on the pitch he always had

I'm hyped for silly season now 😅

If fairness, I think the original post was congratulating him for being only the 5th Man United player in the PL era to start every single game of a PL season. If only 5 players have managed it, it is something above the minimum expected.

It's highly ironic that Shaw is on that list given his injury record over his career but its still something he has done this season. Shaw will be let go next summer and that will be the end of it.

Really a LB should be brought in to bench Shaw. Nothing against Shaw and it's great to see him putting in such a run of games injury free. But he doesn't really offer anything in attack. I think he has a role to play but it mostly should be from the bench.

FB is such a vital position in football I think we need to spend good money buying a decent LB. Though is there any decent LBs around worth buying. There's young lads with good potential but any decent FBs around the mid 20s.

Would like someone with a bit of experience given the young players we have in defence and Doegu (only listing him because he has played there) but maybe try to take advantage of West Ham going down to also sign Diouf. If there's no experienced options worth buying and you have to look at young players with good potential.

*Can even include MF. If Fernandes is bought himself and Mainoo are young lads too. So would be great to add some quality experience to the starting XI.

The fact that Spurs stayed up will probably cement Senesi moving there.

Was excellent again today for Bournemouth and imo he’s well worth throwing a small kitchen sink at to boost our defence with strength, guile and calmness.

Would be a great player for likes of Heaven and Yoro to learn from for a few Seasons.

Think he would pick us if we were interested. Unless the missus wants london

It's very interesting that I was in a small minority here last summer saying we shouldn't sell Bruno. Yet a lot of those saying take the money are running the show like they know something.

If any of us knew anything we wouldn’t be posting on boards.

(and I say that as someone who absolutely didn’t want Bruno sold last summer)

Tbf while I was not as outspoken as many, I was in the if the price is right I be open to selling camp.

Delighted to be proven wrong. Dont care about my opinion once United win or do well.

Now that the football is finally over transfer season can get started.

Looking forward to seeing how Wilcox and Vivel perform over the next few months. they had a rocky start but showed some promise previously. Had a rotten january imo but fingers crossed that was just a blip and they refind some form. That Kyle Macaully could be the guy that really unlocks their potential.

Lowkey I also think its an important season for Hargreaves. We've heard great things about his skills arount the negotiating table but we really need to see him make a big impression - might be time to move him on if he can't show he can hang at this elite level.

Just a shame the season is broken up so badly by International Football. Hopefully it doesn't disrupt their rythm too much.

3 new midfielders would be dreamland stuff but I think Tchouameni would be very costly and would want monstrous wages.

Pffft, new head scout signing. Highly rated signing with some good history at Brighton and Chelsea. He may or may not have been hired in November.

If we had beaten Leeds at home as expected (when Maguire got sent off), Newcastle away when they were down to 10 men, and Everton at home when they were down to 10 men; beaten Wolves and West Ham at home instead of drawing (which we should have done); and drawn with Arsenal in the first game at home instead of losing (we deserved a draw), we'd now be Champions. So nine more goals at the right time would have won us the title. Ha!

I was one of those who said we should have taken the 100 mill. That was based on the money on offer and the fact that he didn't fit into Amorim's system. If Amorim was still here Bruno wouldn't had anywhere near the season he's ended up having.

But in fairness to Carrick he's got the best out of him and also Mainoo. He has structured the team adound the players that are at his disposal. I am not convinced about Ederson though. Really think he's a very average player. Hopefully we make a move for M Fernandes soon. I would take Baleba over Ederson

Agreed on Tchouameni. On the assumption Ugarte leaves, I really think 3 is the absolute bare minimum and probably still leaves us lighter than most for the base 2.

You can’t seriously have less than 4 players for 2 positions as a CL club. 5 is probably more reasonable. So it’s min 3 unless they see Martinez filling in or think one of the academy can step up.

City - Rodri, Kovacic, Reijnders, Gonzalez (B.Silva done a job too)

Arsenal - Rice, Zubimendi, Merino, Noorgard (MLS at times)

Liverpool - Gravenberch, McAllister, Jones, Endo, Szobozlai

Villa - Tielemens, Kamara, Onana, Bogarde, Luiz

Spurs - Bentancur, Pahlihna, Gallagher, Sarr, Gray, Bergvall, Bissouma

United - Mainoo…..Bruno at a push but hopefully Carrick doesn’t waste him like Amorim did. Mount really not a DM (as we’ve seen) and never fit.

We were comically light in midfield this year playing 40 odd games. We’re likely losing 2 (Ugarte + Case). I genuinely can’t see how we don’t sign 3. Fully expect we will.

Agreed. And therefore I'm not in the habit of judging opinions of other posters but when they make a personal attack of sorts some home truths need to be made clear.

I think we've looked a real soft touch with Casemiro from beginning to end, as if we should be delighted just to have him at the club. That's not to say I don't like him as a player or a person, because I do.

If its a choice of just Anderson for 100m or Ederson and Baleba for 100m we'd be idiots to pick the Anderson option.

With Case leaving we have 1 playable midfielder (Mainoo) and an Ugarte. Anderson and Mainoo backed up by Ugarte and the Fletchers as emergencies would be a grim 40 game season no matter how good Anderson is.

If we kept Case maybe we could pray Mainoo/Anderson backed up by Case with Ugarte for emergency MIGHT just scrape a season if all go uninjured.

But thats not an option, we badly need bodies in midfield now and if that means sacrificing one world class player for two rotation level players then thats what we'll have to do.

I think Fernandes would also be a smart buy instead of Anderson. Forest want triple the money they spent on him after two seasons. Fernandes is two years younger and I think is someone you can develop into a very good player.

Madman Marinakis wants £115m for Anderson.

    Tier 1.

Article is about Forest's season, Part around Anderson:

Forest will now prepare for the summer, and are determined to retain the core of their squad. That is a stance supported by Marinakis and Pereira.

There is an acceptance that Elliot Anderson will be in high demand and may be sold. Manchester City and Manchester United are both very interested and a decent World Cup for the midfielder could bring other heavyweights to the table. Yet Forest will only sell him at market value and Marinakis is using the £115m sale of Moisés Caicedo from Brighton to Chelsea in August 2023 as the benchmark. It means Anderson is likely to eclipse the transfer record for an English player set by Declan Rice (£105m) almost three years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49,513 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

He's better, imo, than caicedo was. But also Chelsea and Liverpool went insane bidding up for him.

I do think it would be surprising if he went for less than 100. But I also can't see city going over that. And with forest.... They may simply not sell at 100. They should... But will they?

It will depend on Anderson really. There is already a narrative that he is destined for City, which means clubs not bothering to bid against City, and so City will probably sit quietly and say nothing until Forest finally accept a bid that is less than they might want.

But thats if Anderson genuinely does want City, and if other teams know it after an approach.

The fact United are already looking elsewhere tells me that they know it and quite rightly aren't bothering with the bidding war.
