I said they should face man slaughter charges. You are right saying murder is OTT.

Both incidents are technically man slaughter.

How the fuuuck is kicking the shiite out of Alex Coughlan until he's dead and arresting a shoplifter the same.

The left will tell lies and hide facts to sell their beliefs

    Look at this

    My “narrative” is simple.

I support immigration but would impost some limits. I support multiculturalism, it’s our future. That doesn’t mean giving up our culture, it means making space for other cultures and embracing them.

I’d deport any asylum seekers committing crime, but they are here legally until their cases are decided

There’s no place in a modern society for racists or those that spread hate.

    That’s it. Simple as.

Your post about the tragic death in Grafton Street sounds alot more then just supporting multiculture .

You called it murder which is fueling a sense of racist injustice among Africian community in Ireland

If it was a whiteman ,i doubt you have called the secutity guards murderers.

10 years ago I would have been in 5 groups that would have shared the video.

Glad I am in none now that had it.

Ray Burke is the first name that comes to mind!

Did you read the whole article? He dropped his complaint. I'm not sure how any of that relates to two tragic deaths. Im pretty sure it's a general thing when any serious crime gets recorded that gardai would always discourage people from sharing it. In both cases, once a crime is proven or disproven, people will face consequences. I haven't seen either video, I have no intention of watching either video. People that do likely have an agenda of some kind to push on others.

Same as I’d call the lads who killed the man in Blanchardstown murderers, yes that’s what I consider them and I already said they should be locked away for a very long time to make an example of them - was that not enough for you??

Actually I think the whole man slaughter thing is overplayed. Many of the cases of man slaughter convictions were much closer to murder than anything accidental killing someone.

I don’t disproportionately support any race or colour over another. Thankfully I grew up in a family where we were always told and educated that colour/race/religion means nothing and multicultural society’s are good.

I’ve experienced bigotry myself personally so I speak from a position of experience. We were called “mix breeds” in public by my grandparents and my granny told my mother not to bring us back to the house as it upset my grandfather looking at us. It was over religion not colour but same hurt.

A diverse multicultural society is where we are heading no matter if people like it or not, and it can be good for Ireland if done right.

Like i said you are fueling the racial hatred yourself as much as anyone with mad claims .

You would be well met with the loonies outside Arnotts with the last few days.

Have the post-mortem results been made public.

It says they were inconclusive, waiting on toxicology reports

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20,064 ✭✭✭✭_Brian

I’m actually balanced in my opinions so can’t see how that spreads hate.

it might upset racists and bigots when I say people of colour and immigrants should be welcomed, but that’s not the same as spreading hate. racism isn’t a valid opinion so I don’t care too much upsetting them.

There are two recent cases of private security restraining people by kneeling on their necks, both subsequently died. The result was totally disproportionate to any possible misdemeanour. At this stage anyone should know you don't restrain by kneeling on a person's neck.

This man, doesn't matter where he was from or his skin colour. Has been in jail numerous times, had shoplifted from the same shop many times. Never worked a day and is being seen as some sort of hero. I dont think he was murdered. There is no deterrent to stop people reoffending. On another note local lad who was murdered had his killers conviction quashed during the week. God love his family

It’s all a bit smoke and mirrors lads & lassies. The tragic killing of Alex Coughlan was reported by every major media outlet in the country. It was and is big news. In fact, traditional media seemed far more focused on urging people not to share the videos filmed by the scumbags involved than social media was in relation to the footage of Salika’s death which was shared widely.

Just to show how perspective can get warped online, I was on Henry Street yesterday changing a hoodie in Arnotts. There was a group of African protesters outside. Big crowd, men and women clapping, chanting and making short speeches. I walked past them, one of the lads said hello, I nodded back, smiles all round. Two Gardaí stood nearby observing from a distance. Completely calm atmosphere. This is Ireland, people have a right to protest peacefully.

Then I got home and saw some fella online claiming he was intimidated and blocked from entering Arnotts at around the exact same time I walked straight in without any issue (within minutes as I whatsapped my wife as I walked in).

Funny how different reality can look once it passes through social media.

Thats fair enough, but someone shouldn't be allowed to stand up on a platform and call that person who died after the Arnott's incident a hero.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 11,717 ✭✭✭✭John_Rambo

Agreed, I just thought there should be a bit of insight from the city centre, and you're right, there are no heroes when it comes to that incident.

Just a bit more perspective on Dublin. It’s not how some people are painting it. There aren’t gangs of immigrants hassling people around the city centre. I’m shocked and saddened by the death of Mr. Coughlan, and I hope the full extent of the law is brought down on his attackers to send a clear message to anyone else.

It reminds me of the killing of Lukasz Rzeszutko in Coolock. I used to work for Kish Fish... Similar circumstances, a hard working man killed by scumbags.

I told our usual courier to keep a stick in the van for protection against dogs, he has found it a great help, it has given him the confidence to get out of the van.

When I was cycling I'd often get a dog chasing and I'd just swing the pump at him, no one carries pumps now just litttle battery compressors. OH never gets punctures , there's goo in the tyre and they seal themselves fairly quick

Don’t know his status in the country but if he wasn’t a citizen he sounds like he should have been deported by what you are saying, this isn’t the sort of immigration profile we need. Yes we need immigration but not criminal.

Yet still, causing his death wasn’t justified if that’s what happened, and it certainly seems they contributed at least.

The knee on the neck is extremely painful and dangerous. I think that lad should be in more trouble than the rest of them he knew what he was at.
Hard to believe anyone in professional security wouldn’t know the danger of holding someone face down for that length of time.

@John_Rambo Social media will be what this version of society dies from

Rome had laziness wealth and the dependency on foreign army's

    The Byzantine Empire had plauge

Tec nerds will be our downfall

Yes, the lad that was killed was a year ahead of my eldest lad in our secondary school.

No mention of the dangers of being pulled to the ground, when it was our own brave boys in blue doing it to the young fella in the tractor

He didn't die though did he? Will you stop with the blatant whataboutism. You keep trying to compare events that are not remotely comparable. Security guards and gardai are not the same why do you keep comparing apples and oranges?

I'm 100% and genuinely unaware of what you're talking about, was there a similar tactic or something that led to a death?
